Merseyrail day out 29th April 2021

Another enjoyable day with Merseyrail on 29th April 2021. Getting into quite a routine with doing these now so apologies if its getting mundane but having travelled on these units for most of my life I've been incredibly lax at actually recording them! Now trying to rectify that before the inevitable happens and they do disappear for good. It'll be a poorer world when I can't hear that ticking noise emanating from under the seat!
CO-VID may well have extended their lives a little (that's an ironic sentance!) but the end is gonna come at some point so taking the opportunity while I can. Of course the staying local thing helps as well because, well they're local!
Anyway, enough downbeat stuff, plenty of wanderings here and there around Merseyside, including my fist visit up to Southport for probably about 5 years. A bit lengthy, but I've included the time stamps to jump to various bits. Units seen during the day are listed at the end.

0:05:49 508 131 Kirkdale-Sandhills
0:09:36 508 128 Sandhills-Southport
0:34:21 Southport station with comings and goings and plenty ticking :-)
0:37:11 507 026 departing Moorfields low level before we make our way down to the Wirral
0:37:38 508 114 Moorfields deep level-Bebington
0:49:35 508 130 Bebington-Green Lane
0:50:49 508 111 Green Lane-Hooton
1:00:55 Hooton arrivals and departures then onto 508 112 up to James Street
1:15:14 James Street comings and goings
1:18:27 508 125 Birkenhed North-Bidston
1:20:34 Bidston TFW 150 arrival and then on 508 103 to Moorfields deep level. Up to Low level to see a 6 car set depart for Kirkby
1:32:39 Formby arrivals and departures and onto 508 115 between Bank Hall and Moorfields
1:40:06 507 020/012 with some jointed track loveliness heading from Brunswick to Moorfields. (for more jointed track loveliness I've discovered southbound only from Formby to Hall Road also has quite a bit but the train I was on today was far too busy to record at that point!)

Sandhills used to be one of if not the most windswept, inhospitable, barren suburban stations ever. Eventually there were shelters put on the platform but my mother who grew up in Formby remembers changing at Sandhills and it being just a platform stuck up high and receiving the coastal wind and the relentless rain.

5:47 that was my train from bidston to lime street today I only intended to a masked one never mind ride on 2 I had 508 143 back to chester
