@@jinabobinaaa That was part of it, but I was screaming for years about how bad our defense was and how we needed to get rid of Bob Sutton with his very broken, "bend, don't break" defense. I think Alex Smith might have actually made it to the Super Bowl himself, but there was no chance when you have a D that can't even stop a sneeze. He still returns to events in Lubbock, when his schedule allows, including this past October when he was inducted into the Texas Tech Hall of Fame and Ring of honor. He has been courtside at basketball games in the past few years. He still gives back to the Lubbock community. Every sporting good store in town has Texas Tech gear and Kansas City gear. Greatest touchdown ever, imo, at least in the regular season!

I am not given to hyperbole or recency bias. I don't automatically christen the latest thing as the best that ever was. But, I have never seen anyone play the quarterback position better than Patrick Mahomes... No one. Ever. Brady still wears the crown. Seven Super Bowl championships earn him that right. But, Mahomes is ahead of his pace in every measurable category. I don't think he'll catch Brady, simply because his career almost certainly won't last as long. But he'll get close with about five fewer seasons. In my book, that would put him in the conversation.

I don't think the question as to Mahomes being the greatest is whether he can get better, I think it's whether he can sustain his current level for another ten or fifteen years. Also one thing mentioned in the video a few times that I don't know if you understood was the concept of a "free play". Basically, when there's a penalty, the other team can choose to take the penalty or just keep the result of the play. So if the offense can snap the ball while the defense is offside, they know they've got at least five yards, so they just throw the ball deep. If it's incomplete or even intercepted, they just accept the penalty and the five yards, any interception basically gets wiped out. But if the pass is complete they can get a lot more than five yards, often a touchdown.
@slagwill5599 Жыл бұрын
Sustain? Only if he adjusts his game as he ages, unlike his fellow mobile-cannon, Favre. The thing about extreme brilliance is that it’s intensity cannot be sustained for prolonged intervals. However he’s adaptable and malleable - so we’ll see. I share the same sentiment as you do.

To answers your question: “as a Kansas City fan to watch this back?” Disbelief. Kansas City has been bad team/mediocre team since the early 90s, with only 1 playoff win since Montana left in 1993. We suffered, we sucked, but the stadium was also sold out. This city eats, drinks, and sleeps football. Mahomes is our Micheal Jordan, our Rocky Balboa, and he’s just a stand-up great fellow on top of it. If he continues on the path he is on he will easily be the GOAT over TB. He’s already better than Brady ever was as far as skill and athleticism. But people strongly believe that SB titles are the way to say you’re the GOAT so unfortunately, in a harder division than TB has ever played in, Mahomes will have to prove to the world how much better he is than TB via SB titles. Although I don’t think he needs many more to prove that. I pray I get to see him in action one day. NFL tickets are so expensive

Bu the way, the so-called Mahomes flop after he was hit out of bounds, wasn't for dramatic effect. It was because he didn't want to chance doing more damage to his ankle. The out of bounds hit was the right call and so was the hold in the Superbowl. And for everyone mad about those penalties... If the roles were reversed, you'd want those penalties called on your opponent. If they weren't, because the refs just "let them play" based on the "situation" you'd set the NFL on fire. A penalty is a penalty is a penalty no matter the "situation"

As a longtime (almost 40 years) Chiefs fan, I often thought of the Vikings as the NFC version of the Chiefs. It’s a franchise that is respected & has had some great players & success in their team’s history, but have had nothing really going on in the last 30 or so years (until Mahomes). Both teams have spent a lot of time with other team’s retread QB’s, usually guys on the downside of their careers, but good enough to get you to 9-7, 10-6 or even 11-5 every once in awhile. Of course, both teams would blow it in the playoffs, usually in the first game they’d play, lol. I’ve always had a lot of respect for the Vikings & I’d love to see you (and the Lions) find a great, young QB in the draft & pay back the Packers for the last 30 years of them having back to back HoF quarterbacks🤣

It’s a little weird to pitch QBs against each other in a game, saying the QB that wins is better. They are never on the field at the same time. Isn’t it that the Bengals defense was better than Mahomes or that Burrow was better than the Chiefs defense? The only way to head-to-head QBs is with stats and results. Burrow could literally win every game against the Chiefs and still not be the best QB. The best QB does not always win; the best team usually does.
