What a gem: + 2,000 years old tune. Legend is, a song in this style was sung for an angry Lord (god) Shiva by a goddess to calm him. This is the sweetest Malkauns I have heard. Ankita you are the princess of Mewati Gharana. A shinning star ! In 1970s I had the privilege of spending some time with Pandit Jasraj Ji when he had given a performance in Chandigarh and I was a student at Panjab University. I have been following him for decades and I have heard most of our senior Gurus of classical music. I am so glad to see that younger generation is stepping up to the plate to carry on the tradition. Well done. Thank you to MERU Concerts for putting on so many wonderful concerts and sharing with us.

Here is my favourite Raag again. I am reminded again and again of Fydor Dostoevsk's. "The Grand Inquisitor of Man". Whenever I hear this Raag, I stand helpless before God. Shamed and guilty, I start introspecting throughout the recitation of Malkauns. Sampoorna Malkauns is more introspection-inducing. However, it is the singer who makes a Raag memorable rather than vice-versa. . 9

Malkauns is one of very soulful Ragas. Deep and emotional. Ankita-ji has very deep and strong voice. Smooth moves from low-high-low pitch. This is the first time I listened to her rendition.Who is her Guru? I am sure, I will be listening her more. She is young. I wish she will soon be a star in Indian classical.God and her guru bless her
