It’s hard to walk down any Australian street and not see the hand of Gough. I was born in the 90’s but his reforms influenced and continue to influence my life massively.. I wish I had the honour of meeting him before he passed. A giant like no other.

Whitlam for all his failures achieved far more success.

Having a laugh are you? Worst PM in Australia's history - makes Gillard look good, Rudd fabulous and Gorton amazing.

Kevin Knight worst PM in Australia’s history? Sure if you are a conservative who hates progress. Gough is the most reforming prime minister in history he did so much more for the country than any liberal government preceding and succeeding could do

@@nicko9799 Exactly. I can list at least 20 significant things he did in those 3 years. Let's start with the simplest - Advance Australia Fair. Whitlam was the 1st Pm to make this really the official 1. Before that it would alternate between GSTQ and AAF.. First became official for all Australian reps abroad at WC 1974. Let's give another - ending Australian involvement in Vietnam and conscription. It may not seem much now, but if you were a young man in 1974, this was a life and death decision. If our Mr Knight wants to persist, I can list many many more..

William Underwood Great 👍 we were 1 week away from bankruptcy by a Senate that had its composition changed not by democracy but by a Country Party leader Joh Bjelke-Petersen. To give those self righteous conservatives the numbers to block supply to force an election on false pretences. They just hated Whitlam and his reformist agenda. Yes he went too fast and didn’t need to go at a pace too ahead of his time. But they were trying this tactic in 1974. Because they believes they were born to rule. That attitude serves well currently with ScoMo shutting the economy down and it’s there right to destroy your ability to earn an income. Whitlam and even Fraser wouldn’t dare to have dreamt up such a policy.
