They’re similar, but the IIC+ sounds snappier and less fizzy/harsh, and maybe just ever so slightly livelier.

Is it just me or there's something different in the mids with the VII? Not like "more or less", but like in a different range / character, not a fan about this shift compared to the original! What do u think?

The mids definitely sit in a slightly different spot, and the GEQ on the VII has less range, to the extent that I don't believe you could get the mids sitting in exactly the same place. So the question is, which one sounds better in the mix?

@@TIGHTENmetal Yea that's what I thought, all in all, I'd say the C+, in the mix it depends on what you're after, the VII has a "lower" feel, a little like the IV differed from the IIc with the new pushed presence, it might sound like it has more girth but to some it might sound hollow, this one will really come down to taste because it's not a setting thing!

The iic+ sounds thicker and a bit looser than the VII. The mid emphasis is definitely also in a completely different spot.

Not digging the way either amp is dialed in to be honest. The IIC+ seems a bit honky while the VII seems a bit tubby, and I know both can be dialed in more to my liking.

Obviously Marks are very versatile & can be dialed to suit most guy's tonal needs so don't get hung up on knob turning. The idea is to focus on the things that are fundamentally different like gain structure, voicing, feel etc...

Original kills again. There’s something about the tone of the new VII that’s strange … a kind of slightly harsh and tinny overtone. The VII is testament to what we call over engineering. The originals excel at what they do because they do one thing and they do it amazingly !!

Did you have the EQ set the same? The pics u have in this video show the EQ settings are different. The VII C+ sounds like there's more mids (fuller sound) than the original IIC+.

The GEQ was set per the photos. The VII GEQ doesn’t have as much range as the C+ GEQ so setting them the same doesn’t work. Also, the mids in the VII sit in a slightly different place and it does not scoop as deep as the OG Marks can. At the end of the end of the day it’s about the differences that you can’t neutralize with knob changes… Clarity, gain structure, cut in the mix etc..

Yeah across these different models you have to change settings accordingly, they are different amps so they act differently.

The VII feels great honestly. It's the first Mark since the III to have the rawness & feels I personally want.

@@TIGHTENmetal oh that’s awesome, I get you I love my aggressive HG++. I only asked because when I A/B compared mine with my HG and DRG the VII was basically a slightly different DRG since the VII is simul too. Both absolutely crush though

Much prefer the OG, VII has that slight blanketed effect in comparison. In isolation I probably wouldn’t hear that though
