There is a loss in high end when you start using the attenuation but once you start going through the attenuation settings the tone stays similar throughout

it's not the attenuation that cuts off the top end but increasing the master volume.

Question for you: does the 'normal/bright/warm' switch work ONLY on the speaker through or the dry line level? Or both? Thanks!

Fryette PS 100…. Had the Cab Clone IR+ and the OxBox. For attenuation, the Fryette hit it out of the park. Plus the FX loop on the Fryette, I now bypass my amps’ fx loops unless they need an eq in their loop.

What improvement will you notice by adding an attenuator to your chain?

They are all very similar to my ear. I actually like it more with more attenuation as that high end fizziness disappears and the body of the tone comes through more. I think we are talking that nobody would be able to tell a difference in a mix in a big way with these attenuations. But which one feels best to play through?
@TIGHTENmetal Жыл бұрын
Honestly, at any decent volume, I prefer the feel & tone not attenuated. For my use the only reason to plug the attenuator in is if it really needs to be super quiet.

It's hard for me to tell with the guitar parts changing with the attenuation level. Reamping the same part might help with this kind of comparison. Sounds great, though :)

That's because there's no practical difference. :)

Awesome piece of gear. It changes the tone a little but it's nice to drop the volume late at night. Had one for about a year and it's functioned as it should. Did you ever try the voicing switch?
@TIGHTENmetal Жыл бұрын
I did. Not sure why it's in the circuit really, the amp has all the knobs it needs.

Dude that sounds killer! Is this the 4, 8 or 16 ohm version you are using in the video? And how do these differ from each other?
@TIGHTENmetal9 ай бұрын
Thanks! 8 ohm version. Only difference is the load resistance available.

@@TIGHTENmetal ahh, ok, so there is no tonal difference between the 3 versions? Wich one do you recommend best?

@@BrutalDeathShredder The best one is the one that matches the load requirements of your amplifiers!

Hey Tighten I have a question: How do you like the Rectifiers vs the Soldano SLO100? I just discovered that the Rectos have the same exact preamp as the SLO 100 and wondering if they are comparable from your perspective? From my research, many techs proclaim that Soldano is best in terms of build quality. Your thoughts, thanks!
@TIGHTENmetal11 ай бұрын
I love them both for different reasons. You'll hear that "design was stolen" thing a lot, and in reality the amps sound & feel very different. Both are built very well, and both have great tone though. The Recto is more aggressive & is a ubiquitous metal amp when boosted. It chugs like no other. The SLO may be the best hard rock, big open chord amp I've played, and it has a lead tone on par if not better than a IIC+, however even boosted it's too loose to be a good metal amp. So, to me, it comes down to what styles are you playing.

@@TIGHTENmetalThanks for the reply, I think I'll have to purchase the Recto. Awesome channel btw! Can't wait to see what you have coming down the pipeline.
