The Tone Burst will simply give you the sound of your amp, but more of it. That is what a great booster should do... and this one does... and it is also red !!!!

I like your review enough I purchased one. Your review was spot on! The pedal is what it is, a volume and gain boost with tone shaping controls. One thing I have to say is that I purchased a grid slammer also because of your review and you say the knobs are hard to turn. Every Mesa product you see are made with high tracking potentiometers or pots. Therefore as you probably know, the slightest move of the knobs or EQ sliders have a huge effect on the tone your shaping. This is something worth noting about the build quality of Mesa Boogie.

8 years later, I'm sure you figured it out. The Badger, being an 18 watt amp, is going to break up running humbuckers into it. I'm guessing you've run single coils into by now and got your clean sound. And I could be totally wrong. But probably not.

I know this video is like 6 years old, but it sounds like the Suhr might have a power tube that's going bad. You should normally get the power amp tubes changed once a year or at a minimum every 2 years. I switched entirely over to vintage analog solid-state amps years ago for that exact reason; all of a sudden sounding different, worse, or just off in some way. I was fed up with excessive maintenance just to have marginally better sound quality.

There are a few reasons why Mesa (and Walrus) might have mounted the 9V input on the PCB. One reason is size. DC jacks that mount to the enclosure and don't stick out much are generally quite large. They take up room in the enclosure, which limits PCB space. Another is time. Everything on these Mesa pedals is mounted to the PCB. This means that only 2 offboard wires are soldered; the battery snap wires. If the DC jack was mounted to the enclosure, that would be 1 more nut to tighten, and 2 more wires to cut, strip, tin and solder. It might seem insignificant, but that eats up a lot of time over hundreds and thousands of pedals, and time, as we all know, is money. Those are the only reasons I can think of.

As much as I agree with you on your Suhr clean tone in this video, it really does seem to at least take pedals nicely. However, that Carl Martin is amazing!!

You really should use the Boogie's Channel 2. The Mark IIC+ mode is godly and then you can set a different eq as well!

you should check the ohm rating on the suhr and the speakers you're using. You might be pushing the speaker too much

Any suggestions for a cheap, good sounding clean amp for a small buck? which works with using pedals such as distortion
