I was confused as well but the answer is actually correct because there are two ways to solve this. 1) (His way) to keep the polarities constant in each loop while using the previous current calculation. 2) (another way) To change the polarities according to the current flow direction and input the new difference in current by giving priority to the current that is in that certain loop. Both ways result in the same answers.

A lot of upper level Math, Physics, and Engineering actually all combine in various ways, (for example, a course like Statics uses concepts from all 3). Chemical Engineering could be a potential major seeing as all of these different fields combine.

In example 1, why is the current flowing through R2 the difference between I1 and I2? Is it just convention to make both loops flow in the same direction clockwise? (That is, Mesh Analysis does not work if we do not do it this way?) I'm confused by the arrow on the current source. To me it seems to say that I2 should flow in the *opposite* direction, but perhaps I am misunderstanding
@menglimarrero42963 жыл бұрын
14:03 Sir Isn't it should be 8(i2- i1)? Coz i2 is potential rise and i1 is potential drop
@menglimarrero42963 жыл бұрын
Edit: I compared the approach of other vloggers, in this video R2 and R4 remains with their polarity that's why 8(i1-i2) In the other approach they reverse the polarity between the meshes Mesh 1 R2 is Positive UPWARD Current downward Mesh 2 R2 is positive DOWNWARD current upward Mesh 2: - 8(i2-i1)-5i2-2(i2-i3)= 0 BY INSPECTION this video is right. 🙏 Thank you for this video

I have been watching your videos for years, but with this class I don't know if I can. My professors unfortunately uses different conventions on when a current is negative or positive which is the opposite of yours, so even though you're much better at teaching this stuff, I think it's just going to cause confusion learning two different conventions at once. :/
