You might notice that Tomas no longer counts down with a cymbal before a song, that is because the click track counts down for them. That or Meshuggah actually has psychic powers to communicate with each other before each song and count down telepathically, or they could alsobe robots. or just be total badasses that they don't need a countdown to start a song simultaneously

Only recollection of events: brain couldn't understand what body was dancing to, but then one of 'em deeper selves stopped the worrying and encouraged the banging. Been scarred for life since. Whenever a headache kicks in, it gets best kicked out to this track's Ophidian Trek's version. Best sounding album discovered thus far... Life's not been the same since. ***** This is because, not only are they very good musicians, but also is their music quiet simple, not over-arranged with many details. They have a simple receipe : no chords, no melody/harmony, groove/weird synched rythmics, and a fucking soul in it. As a consequence, in live, there is no technical limit ^^. This band is certainly the most innovative music act since 20 years.
@zbim3926
@zbim3926 9 жыл бұрын
+Jérémy Belin I don't agree with you Jerem (je suis français aussi mais je parlerai en anglais pour que tout le monde comprenne). The technique resides in groove. To play these stuffs, you've got to have an extremely good sense of tempo. It's difficult playing syncoped rythm and especially off-beats insofar as it's very strict (rigorous). Take a look at The mouth licking what you've bled or Dancers to a discordant system. These guys are all alive metronomes. It might be simple compared to death metal bands, but let me tell you it's very hard to keep the time correct for the whole song when you play it.
@VelRyphon
@VelRyphon 9 жыл бұрын
+Zbim Bam of course it's still difficult to play, but far away from technical death metal like Obscura or Spawn Of Possession for example. Thinking that brutal death metal is just about speed is often a big mistake (depends on the band of course). Polyrithmics are also in speed oriented death metal bands, which is more difficult to play. But Meshuggah, with its slow paced extreme metal, has huuuge amount of grooves, not the case for extreme death metal ^^.
@zbim3926
@zbim3926 9 жыл бұрын
Or Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, Misery Index, Pig Destroyer :P But I meant compared to speed, it's sure Meshuggah seems little beside. However it's much groovier ;)

The sound technician for this concert should be given an Oscar. Or a Pulitzer. A Nobel works too. The mix sounds mmmmassive here. Everything is perfectly compressed, every instrument is understandable, the punch is enough to make out each note but also enough to distort them brutally... Meshuggah bases its style on low sounds, but the way the guitar solo sounds so clear... And then 3:18 hits with all its fucking might. And it's all destruction from then on. It's a fucking piece of rhythmic art, is what it is

There are really few people who have realised how great this song is. Also, talking about the album itself, it has a perfect composition and sounds amazing, but beyond that it has a peculiarity: This album still remains incomprehensible to the audience. To clarify my thoughts a bit, if this album came out in the year 2045, it would be ahead of its time. And to think that it was released in 1998 is beyond explanation. This album is at least 50 years ahead of its time.

I am sure this has been said, but it is almost unreal and scary how clean and clear they sound live. I just can't believe it half the time.

When I'm 80 years old and sitting in my rocking chair, I will be listening to Chaosphere. And my family will say to me, 'After all this time?' And I will say, 'Always."

I’ve flown as far as Nashville to LA to see Meshuggah (25th anny tour with BTBAM night one - we had to) and will see them every single chance I get. They have to be experienced to fully appreciate them.
