Some of my real life friends worked on this game (fortunately, all of them are alive and safe, though one of them had lived through really bad depression). Some people are trying to push narrative that "GSC moved to Prague" which is only partially true - some part of the team really did, but big part of dev team never changed their location and they still live and work in Kyiv or in other cities of the Ukraine. I met some bad bugs in the game so far, but as of literally right now, some of them have been fixed - major issues involved bugged quest triggers for the most part, and right now game is still a bit buggy but now it has less direct issues that would make people not being able to finish quests or having issues progressing main scenario. Another important thing is that A-Life (the overworld AI-system) while still bugged, it is there and they are working on fixing it. Considering that game is just around a week old, amount of fixes done in first two patches is staggering. I would say - Stalker on release is more stable than some other games years after release - Star Wars Jedi Survivor still constantly glitches out and struggles to run well for me, Final Fantasy XVI still has very uneven performance and runs like hot garbage most of the time. Stalker, just over a week from release already got patch that fixed a lot of issues and game looks better than some of the other big budget games released in last two years. About how bad it is in Ukraine overall - it heavily depends where you live. Heavily. Some cities saw only few drones and missiles over them while others, especially to the east, been bombed constantly - I never had to relocate while my friend from Kharkiv left mere hours before her home was destroyed by russian artillery. So it can be ok, or really, really bad.

I want to say thank you for mentioning where the developers are from and that our country is suffering from war and ruzzian aggression. When we win this war, we are waiting for you in our country. That mission with the collars, and several missions in the game, play into one another in the slightest of ways. You'll notice depending on your choices that they organically effect the dialogue and the mission structure. It makes you feel as a player that your actions do have consequences and make ripples in the world around you. It's the catered attention to every slight detail that makes this game a gem.

Yeah, this game is great for the story that happens outside of the story, if you get my drift. I was outdoors in Malachite when an Emission hit, and I was scrambling to try to find a shelter that could work. All the sudden, some random Stalker hauls ass past me, and I'm thinking, "Oh crap, I bet HE knows where a shelter is!!!" I chase after him, cross a bridge, and sure enough, we both end up hunkering down inside the shelter when the Emission hit. He and I both pulled out guitars till the Emission passed. The game is full of moments you just discover because they're mostly unscripted and it's just an incredible immersive open world to be in. I'm over 50 hours in already and I spent probably the first 30 just exploring. My favorite sights: the Crane in the Quarry and the top of the Cooling Tower. And the best part is, it's only going to get better, more optimized, and have more content.
@ElderGamerVet3 күн бұрын
Yes!! Funny you say that because one time an emission hit, (I mean I was close to town but wasn't sure what house to go into) so I followed a group. I know what you mean, coming across random moments making the world feel alive. It needs work but I'm all in for waiting.

GSC just set the gold standard-no other company can get away with delivering a broken game or failing to deliver on their promises anymore and not patching their games. These absolute legends powered through nearly losing their funding and company, reclaiming it, and then enduring a literal war while making the game, only to still come out with an amazing game. And they didn’t stop there-they straight-up said, “Yeah, we know there are bugs, but we’re already on it.” Respect.

Thank you for making this video and putting my thoughts into words. This game is an amazing accomplishment and a testament to the strength, dedication and tenacity of it's team. Hello from Ukraine. I am not a fan of the old three parts, because I did not play them when they were relevant, and now they already felt old for me to play, so I went through only the first part, and the second and third, I watched videos about them on KZbin. But this new part, I was waiting with impatience, followed all the news. And I can say that these guys and girls from GSC did an incredible job. Although before the first patch the game crashed very often, but it did not stop me. I do not know how they did it, but I do not feel the time passing when I play STALKER 2, I have gone through about half, and I have already played 60 hours. This game has interesting dialogues that are always interesting to listen to, cool directed cutscenes. Even side quests that I most often do not complete in other games, in STALKER 2 I somehow complete them and enjoy them. Even when I collect 139kg of cargo that I want to sell (in the game, the maximum backpack can be expanded to 140kg), and then walk slowly for 5 minutes to the merchant, I still get pleasure. It's a pity that due to the war, several moves, cyberattacks from the Russians on their servers, and problems with the office, whether it was on fire or flooded, I don't remember exactly. They lost a lot of time on this, instead of working on the game. I think, if not for all these problems, we could expect a very powerful release with a rating of 9/10.

Totally agree! Never played the OG games, but I am having the best time playing this one. Side missions feel natural, there are distractions everywhere, I love heading off to do one thing, next thing I know I'm halfway on the other side of the map, over encumbered with an emission coming while being chased by a Chimera. And loving every minute lol. I too play several games at once (have been playing Cyberpunk/Mechwarrior/Aliens Dark descent) but I literally haven't loaded anything else since starting Stalker 2. And yeah there are bugs but the game and world are so good I can overlook that even without the hardships that went into making it - already a massive patch has come out, so it's clear they intend to fix what is broken

So the fact that the story is good, that's thanks to Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. And yes, I also consider the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game series to be one of the GREATEST of ALL TIME and I'm not even exaggerating. They deserve much-much more credit than they're getting. Not because OMG, they're ukranians and it's hip nowadays to support Ukraine, but because THEY DID A F'IN AMAZING JOB!!! Let's not devaluate their feats. Give them credit for what they did and not their circumstances. Well done guys!! Much love!

unfourtunately there is a group in ukraine who are much like monolith in that they have an occult fervor and those people are the AZOV battalion nacht zees. who were gen-oci ding ukrainian citizens who spoke russian and wanted to become russian citizens. (western media will not tell you this) they were so bad that putin stepped in to stop it. then it just became a money launder meat grinder conflict for the military industrial complex who sell arms to everyone involved in the conflict, ukr, nato, rando PMC, ect. they lose literally every battle but the western propaganda..... oops i mean media, says ukraine can somehow win. when thats just fantasy. good news is the war will likely end on jan 20th when trump takes office because he will not give money to ukraine.

This is not true. You may believe it, but it does not make it true. Whether by choice, by silent obedience, or by ignorance, but you are responsible for that. We protect our home and our freedom. And yeah I was a russian-speaking Ukrainian from the east of the country until you attacked us. Not anymore. So I guess thanks for reminding how important it is to know and protect own language and culture. You may understand one day that being evil or ignorant has a price. And you may find out about collective responsibility. Nothing will end until rusia pay for what they did. See ya on the battlefield, stranger, and good luck
