Never was there a design that looked more perfect. The profile of a swallow in flight. Excellent !!

Fascinating aircraft and the outstanding video quality cannot be ignored. I watched this a dozen times until I finally figured out the very discreet speed brakes/airbrakes that close flush into the fuselage. Very clever craftsmanship.

Another incredible German design. Boy, if piloting it didn't scare the hell out of you, then you were already dead! It's such a joy to watch it in flight. Thank you!

Superb model and flying. I'm a big fan of the Komet and Rudi Opitz (original test pilot). The speed brakes and NACA engine inlets are masterful. Really exceptional all 'round! What a treat to se this fly. Watch out for that dolly on takeoff!!!

I like the detail of the cloud of smoke on take-off, just like the original Walter T and C Stoff rocket motor would have done. That Komet is a thing of beauty.

I've just read in David Irving's Hitler's War and The War Path that by january 1945 Hitler was dissapointed, the Luftwaffe had around 135 Me163 but they had only shot down 5 allied bombers.

Pete, very nice work at keeping up with an incredibly fast "rocket" plane. I was wondering where the intake/intakes were until I saw your stills at the end. Very clever to hide them in the wing root as the real 163 didn't need intakes. A lot safer also as the original was thought to suffer greater losses during the fueling of the C-stoff/ hydrazine/methanol component and the T-stoff/hydrogen peroxide oxidizer component than to the allies. One fuel truck would deliver it's load, finish, pull away and the cap placed on that tank before the other truck would even approach and they would still have mishaps where there was residue or an improperly capped tank which would result in instant detonation. Thank you as always for a great video and God Bless, Paul from Florida. PS, yes I do have some pretty useless stuff in my head.LOL

You have to put in a Pilot camera with head movenent then you fly it with a 3d Googles and you have the Pilot view out of the Cockpit Yours Frank

Basically a flying wing. Would have been devastating with an Me-262 engine instead of a rocket with hypergolic fuel that dissolved human flesh or exploded on a regular basis.

G'day, Those figures in the Description are for the WW-2 Origidiginale version...; which handled perfectly, right up to 600 MPH, which equates to 525 Knots, or 965 Km/Hr... At 1,000 Km/Hr (621.38 MPH, or 543.7 Knots), the Me 163b became violently unstable in Pitch....; almost inevitably initiating a R.U.D. Event (Rapid Unscheduled Deconstruction), or breaking the Pilot's Neck, or both... Just(ifiably ?) sayin' Take it easy, ;-p Ciao !

@torgarsteinbru35915 жыл бұрын
did that happend a lot?
@RichardTapp13 жыл бұрын
Why would that have been realistic Mike? If they got to make a landing, I think all the rocket fuel would have been used up. Don't know why they would explode on landing. Well it seems I was wrong. Not all of the fuel was always used up (ran out of one component only?) and so there were explosive accidents on landing ... kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJvCc2x9ZqihrtU
