If you can see they are right footed, then there weaker side is probably to the left, if they are left footed then there weaker side will usually be there right. Defenders also usually have one foot in front of the other foot when they are defending indicating that there other foot is there weaker side.

You can tell by their body position. The way that they are facing will be easier to defend because they are already positioned to run that direction. If you go the other way, they have to turn their body before running which takes time, giving you the advantage.

Defending someone like Messi would be very very hard,but you’ll just have to use every tip you know, try your best, and find there weaknesses, play smart and what I mean by play smart is do smart things that could lead to a successful tackle like faking a tackle, so they do a skill move the. You just tackle the ball off them. Even doing all these things would not guarantee success in defending someone like Messi, considering everything Messi has done to himself to be a good dribbler and everything he uses to dribble past defenders,
