I'm not a sports conspiracy theorist. I'm not a Messi hater. I'm not bitter because Messi beat my team (they haven't even played against each other yet and they won't this season unless both teams make it to the final - which is unlikely for either team). I do feel that the reffing that Inter Miami has received since Messi joined the team is favorable though. Perhaps it's as simple as the refs being a little star-struck being the ref on the field with one the greatest of all time. I don't know the reason (like I said, I'm not much for the conspiracy theories). But, it feels like they're getting a lot of beneficial calls.

I have tickets for when Miami play at Chicago on October 4th. It’s a midweek game. Miami play 3 games in 7 days(possibly 5 in 14 if they make the US Open Cup final). There’s an NFL game 3 days prior. There’s also an international break the following week & Argentina plays Paraguay World Cup Qualifier October 12th. Would Messi even play against Chicago??

The decision to be transparent about these situations, by MLS, can only help them. It may help them in ways even they possibly have not considered or do not expect, as many have and are questioning the integrity of the games. The more the integrity of any game the more trust, and thus engagement, the audience will have with it. If people dont trust the integrity of any game they will inherently see no point in this form of entertainment.

I would actually agree with the call in CLB Vs MIN 78th minute. It is a grab, but I believe SWJ exaggerated the fall, had he tried to keep going, he would’ve at least stumbled naturally and as a ref I would have been more likely to call it. I know players want to go the extra mile to make fouls look worse but if they just stuck to the actual impact, the game would be more fair. Here’s my reasoning: as a referee, I will look at that place and see it as exaggerated in terms of the player who fell however if I just saw that player stumble, I can recognize that that would obviously change the play of the game. I know that sounds crazy but it really makes a difference and I hate to say it but it’s a difference between refereeing women’s and men’s games.

Messi protected by the league, by the ref, and now by Wiebe. He looked at the player, stepped in and flattened him with no effort to play the ball (which was nowhere near them). ANY other player in the league gets a yellow for that.

@@Caenei Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was just stating that shoving is most definitely a foul, as per the Laws of the Game. Shoving is not a foul worthy of a yellow card, however, unless it is clearly excessively violent, which Messi's here was not necessarily. Though, you asked "in what universe", and I don't think it's all that difficult to fathom a universe in which the referee saw Messi's clearly aggravated shove as excessively violent and made a (frankly bad) call in the opposite direction and gave him a yellow card, and the KZbin comments are filled with these very same arguments.
