I once made a really, and I mean really high lift to mass ratio plane, after I flew around for a bit I landed on the side of the highest mountain near KSP at a really high angle with near zero amount of fuel left... and it started rolling UP the mountain, without any propulsion. So apearently if you have enough lift to weight you can convert the slightest bit of movement into more vertical movement while keeping the plane on the face of the mountain, then more and more untill you leave the tip of the mountain at a speed high enough to get you halfway to KSP. Kerbal physics are amazing..

Some of the old tricks don't work anymore, and the landing gear are the best, but I found that spamming wheels on like the bottom of a capsule plus physics warp is pretty reliable. With the landing gear you kinda have to retract/extend them in addition, but it's still lively.

Hey Danny, I think I found an interesting glitch for you to explore. Dunno if it's new or not, but by driving to Minmus' North Pole, and then entering a map view you can launch yourself multiple kilometers into the space. The same thing happens when you go on an EVA near the pole, and seems to get worse and worse as you get closer to 90° N. At one point my Kerbal reached Kerbin escape velocity just by standing there. Have fun!
