I was expecting it to go to a family, honestly, not a single 18 year old. still, an act of kindness is an act of kindness, and Shay is still the one in the wrong. @amicaaranearum7 ай бұрын
It may be more complicated than it seems. If Demi’s giveaway was treated as a contest, the value of the free house would have been imputed to the winner as income. An 18-year-old with no ties to the area and no job wouldn’t be able to afford income taxes on that. I’m not excusing the girl’s bad behavior, but it doesn’t surprise me that she would crash there for a month, leave the place a mess, and move back to where her home was. The outcome likely would have been better if Demi had picked someone who was more established in life and local to the area.

Being young, this would have also been extremely embarassing for her to try and deal with appropriately, and is a situation that MOST people would struggle to resolve properly. There's a reason they say that houses and cars are burdens not gifts. It's more tragedy than crime and I hope she does better if she gets another chance at building herself a home like that.

@RaspBerryPies7 ай бұрын
Yeah for real that’s my one issue with this video. As someone with a lot of tattoos who still gets nervous before appointments it is still 100% on me where the tattoo is, what it is, if it’s spelled correctly. If I have an issue with it in any way then I need to speak up the artist can’t read my mind. The example this person used would be better said if it was a Chefs responsibility that each customer knows there is meat in the product. It should be something the customer should look at and confirm for themselves. Also like I said I get being nervous but it is literally your choice to be doing this. It’s not like a doctors appointment this is an active choice you are making for yourself you need to go in there knowing what you want and being able to articulate it. If you can’t then bring someone with you who can. This artist sucks tho but yeah I agree that it is not the artist fault especially if you show them the word they write it down and show you. Like literally what other steps are there to take? You said it’s what you want.

I think that is a good way to protect the artist when it is the clients fault for misspelling. This “artist” sucks, I don’t want to refer to her as a creator of art because she mutilated her client.
@emergencyasmr7 ай бұрын
Yes that’s the norm for tattoo studios so it really does fall on the client to make sure that the spelling is correct, know the meaning of a different language etc. They have more time to think about and plan what they want and the artist is there to tattoo it. Even someone getting a spur of the moment tattoo needs to make sure it’s exactly what they want because it’s there forever I can’t believe that the artist was the one to start this and was shown to be disingenuous. Like, why on earth would that girl have *typed* all that and then turn her phone to show the artist like she’s trying to now claim in her video?? The Rapunzel drama is especially stupid if you're a folklore nerd like me who's aware that fairy tales have evolved so goddamn much across time and space that the common versions we know of today have only very loose connections to much older (and more gruesome) versions from the past. Mad about a hypothetical non-white Rapunzel? I suppose you're also mad that she wasn't thrown out into the wilderness after getting knocked up out of wedlock, or that Flynn wasn't blinded by Mother Gothel for being the baby daddy.

I just listened to an npr report about that exact “fact” of black skin. They researched to figure out where it came from and it turns out it was a dude along time ago who didn’t do any actual scientific research. So Black skin isn’t necessarily more prone to keloids. But it’s been used as an excuse to give subpar care and aftercare forever since. It was very informative. Basically there are a lot of race based diagnosis that shouldn’t be considered as race based.
@sleepysystem7 ай бұрын
@@DaughterofDiogenes i left a comment here that got snapped by the youtube automod for some reason but it's likely it's perceived as more common for black skin to keloid because of a much older idea that black skin is "thicker" and therefore more tolerant of pain and rough treatment, which leads to ppl actually beign rougher with black ppl when givign medical treatment or, in this case, tattooing. this idea that black skin is thicker and that black ppl's nerves are less sensitive means ppl ignore black pain and scar ppl up when tattooing, piercing, or givign medical treatment. in medical settings this leads to higher mortality rates a lot of the time.

Another thing about plain people; Amish and Mennonite are different. There is a lot of overlap- historical dress, religious, etc.- but Mennonites use technology. A lot of Mennonites don't like being photographed because they believe it's vain and they don't like being treated like an attraction, but they use technology. I saw a Mennonite boy playing with a 3DS at a market that's popular among Amish people. They go to Walmart and other stores pretty often too. If she wanted to lie she could at least have a more convincing story lmao
@leileyaravencroft7 ай бұрын
There are Amish who do use technology and as far as I am aware they claim to be Amish not Mennonites. Don’t get me wrong, I am not talking that the entire community will have tv sets and electricity. It’s usually just a singular phone (a cell phone is more common) and/or a single car. Another thing that the Amish have done but is not super common, is that they will take their loved ones to the hospital. There are core beliefs but some Amish and Mennonite people will have a little variation of certain tenements. The phone and car was specifically only for the most dire of emergencies. In the case of one community both were obtained because a beloved member had passed from an accident that could have been remedied if they had either. So the Elders got both but both things were kept by the elders. As for the hospital, the majority won’t. But there has been cases where they have. In particular a case of an Amish man who suffered from a horrible mental illness. At first the Elders tried to say he was not allowed to go to the hospital but they changed their minds after he became violent. He acquired the medication that he needed but eventually stopped taking it. He did a horrible thing because of it

Apprentice here, I think what happened is that since they both kinda panicked, the client most likely went back to get the tattoo fixed while it was still healing, which resulted in unnecessary trauma and possibly infection. That looks like every infected tat I've seen. With that being said, the whole story is just so messy. When you're a tattoo artist, you're bound to make mistakes from time to time, and you absolutely have to learn how to own up to it and sort it out privately with the client. Turning everything into drama and clout will ruin your reputation and kill your career 100%. If I was in her place, I would have covered the client's medication to bring down the infection, refunded the misspelled tattoo and considered the lesson learned. Even if the client's behavior wasn't the best either, tbh it doesn't even matter that much anymore since they're not going back to you anyway.

Not for nothing, but in the original Victor Hugo novel, Esmeralda was actually Agnès. Esmeralda was her stage name. She was white, born to a white French woman, but the mother died in labour and the midwife, a Romani woman, adopted her. The impact of the story is very much the same, though. She was looked down on and mistreated because she was poor, raised by "outsiders", and French citizens believed her to be a witch because she "seduced men" and knew "gypsy magic". In the Disney movie, for some reason they swapped Esmeralda's story with Quasimodo's. It's not explicitly stated, but one of the writers at the time, Irene Mecchi, said Quasi is white because he was born to a French woman, and that the Romani woman who sacrificed herself for him at the beginning of the movie wasn't his biological mother, but the midwife who adopted him.
@sanzibal41677 ай бұрын
That is Esmeralda's story from the 1956 movie by Jean Delannoy. In the original she was kidnapped by Romani and they left Quasimodo in her place. At the end of the book Esmeralda finds that her mother is Sister Gudule who hates Romani because they eat her baby. Happiness is short because Esmeralda runs after Phoebus but gets captured by an angry mob and her mother falls and hits her head and dies.

And Germany as a seperate clear nationstate is a very modern concept as well. The borders have moved *a lot* around there. According to wikipedia the story may even have it's origins in the proto-Indian-European era, and there's also this: "The earliest surviving reference to a female character with long hair that she offers to a male lover to climb like a ladder appears in the Persian epic poem Shahnameh, written by Ferdowsi between c. 977 and 1010 CE.[22] The heroine of the story, Rudāba, offers her hair so that her love interest Zāl may enter the harem where she lives. Zāl states instead that she should lower a rope so that she will not hurt herself.[22]" I would love to see this film btw. Seems quite interesting.
