@TheBluestflamingos8 ай бұрын
This sent me down a rabbit hole regarding the legality of the menstrual blood thing. In the US (the county I live in and am most familiar with) it would probably hold up as some kind of crime, but you could go a couple different ways. Also #Not_legal_advice and #I'm_not_a_lawyer In any case where there is clear malicious intent it would probably be classified as assault. Basically any contact intended to cause harm to a person can be defined as assault, so spitting in their food, for example, or adding ingredients that will make them sick would qualify. I don't imagine the courts would care to make a ruling that "magic isn't real" and would instead focus on the material aspects. Intent to harm *was* there, it's assault. Shit gets complicated when malicious intent is not clear. Adding some menstrual blood to their spaghetti with the intent of making them love you more probably won't meet the criteria for proven malicious intent, so assalt is out the window. States vary on laws regarding food tampering, but most agree that it's illegal in some way. Perhaps "crimal mischief" if they don't have laws regarding "food tampering" that cover non-disease-carrying body fluids. Minnesota, apparently, is ahead of the game and made the specific act of putting body fluids in an unsuspecting person's food illegal after a case in which a man served his boss coffee with semen in it. So, uhh, point Minnesota, I guess.

So, I have been practicing witchcraft for probably 7 years, and I will say that you are right for sure. People have corrupted the meanings and intentions behind many spells and it is sad to see uneducated people spread misinformation and ignorance about witchcraft and it’s beautiful properties. Love spells that involve forcing someone to love you are corrupt and selfish, this will be taken into account by karmatic law. Real love spells like the ones I used to practice involve casting for love to come to you, and it is more like a charm. You don’t need to make someone specific love you, you need to be bringing in love and opening yourself up to the potential it brings by casting, and then you can have a successful love spell in which you have not broken the laws of karma and your relationship will likely be healthier.

@joa1401Күн бұрын
@@crypticmedicineobviously writing about gay women doing gratuitous violence / war crimes / kidnapping / tax fraud etc isn’t fundamentally different than writing about straight men doing those things, but i also don’t think it’s a bad thing to write about, or wrong to enjoy writing about. you just have to remember this is fiction and that those actions are obviously immoral in reality. yes, many queer women have a lot of enthusiasm for stories about wlw being murderous werewolves, vampires, stalkers, bounty hunters, serial killers, evil empresses and generally not upstanding citizens. this is often because, as women, our broader culture is intent on downplaying their capacity for aggression and dominance, their arrogance, their hubris, their ugliness and all these other negative traits that are nonetheless cathartic to see fictional characters play out. it’s a desire to be recognised as fully human, warts and all. men get to see so many male characters that are fun to hate and uncomfortably relatable in their messiness. guys who range from morally dubious to slightly unhinged to completely and utterly feral. the actors who play them get to chew the scenery while they monologue and bask in the jeers of the audience. within the safety of our imaginations, seeing someone wreak havoc, become unmoored from their humanity or give into their worst impulses can actually be really healthy. it lets us hypothetically explore what our own foibles and insecurities might look like if taken to their absolute extreme. empathising with fictional villains allows us to grapple with the reality that all of us have the capacity to hurt others. that we’re all a few bad decisions away from being the villain in someone else’s story. sometimes the things we want so badly are at odds with our obligations to our fellow human beings, but that doesn’t make the wanting go away. fiction can be an outlet, so long as you remember the difference between fantasy and real life. maybe your writer friend was genuinely forgetting, in which case it’s a fair thing to point out. i just also want to avoid patronising queer women in general by assuming they can’t deduce that the actions of the maniacal, abusive, blood drinking, mind controlling vampire queen in their guilty-pleasure sapphic romance novel aren’t something they should emulate in real life.

@@joa1401 Thank you for your perspective. As an AFAB queer POC writer (and funnily enough given your example, disabled former actor?) who writes and enjoys transgressive fiction, I understand these issues intimately. I do fundamentally disagree with the "one bad day" perspective though -- I tend to believe if anyone is just a "few" decisions away from committing atrocities they've probably not got a very strong moral code, or are used to having a lot of unchecked power. My issue with my friend came from them seeking to justify, in real life as well, abuse committed by lesbians so long as it was against "bad" people, usually white men. Their fiction was actively celebrating the idea of wlw hurting others, as though that behavior would never have consequences. As someone in the queer community who has been subject to racism and violence inside our spheres, I know that violent people aren't weapons for a community to point outward. They will destroy their friends and loved ones too, and then the entire community bears responsibility for their mistakes. I hope this makes my position a bit more understandable. I had no intention of being this specific, but you seem to have put a lot of effort into your response, and I wanted to give you a more thorough explanation in return.

Well and people don’t realize that love spells are meant to be honest and pure, more like a charm than anything. You aren’t supposed to try and make someone specific love you, you’re supposed to cast for love to come to you. By trying to use a spell incorrectly you could corrupt it and cast it completely wrong. This can result in awful things happening, and I can never determine that for sure but my biggest advice to any baby witches is that the “love spells” that you are normally seeing are obsession based and can only end badly. When you are contacting other worldly power you must always remember to be patient and wait for the right time and the right message. You cannot expect good results from a rushed and unpracticed approach. Please use what you learn wisely, because the laws of Karma will come back for you when you least expect it. P.S. The "i use dark magic" defense feels like the equivalent to when comedians say they have "dark humor"
@starscreamthecruel80268 ай бұрын
It's also bollocks. Left hand Practioniers do exist but they dont go around advertising it like that. It's the same as the ones that say: I have mental illness so I can get away with X, Y and Z and you have to put with it. People with REAL mental illness only tell those that need to know because they are going to be in contact with them or on an open forum where they are sharing their struggles. They sure as hell aren't using them as an excuse to be an asshole.
@icu38698 ай бұрын
No, Why they’re different :dark humor is used to make light of or explore serious or taboo topics. It combines humor with insensitivity, cynicism or skepticism, to amuse or provoke thought. A comedian is being paid to perform and entertain audiences. This is different than an individual claiming to use “ black magic”. It’s just a way to seem mysterious, more powerful, and trying to justify their lack of ethics or moral standards.

The idea that there’s a SINGLE soulmate/match/twin flame out there for you was actually an incredibly destructive mindset for me. I avoided dating because I wanted to wait for my ‘ideal partner’ and neglected relationships because I thought: what if they aren’t the ONE? I think there are such things as multiple soulmates, it’s not exclusive. It’s a person you have a healthy, growing, and rewarding relationship with who continue to make each other better people. Me and my best friends are soulmates, just not romantically.

As someone who does Oracle card readings, you nailed it on the head. Card readings, whether tarot or oracle, are tailored to be a very personal experience. You want the recipient to be there with you, so that energy is filling the space, some readers even allow the recipient shuffle the cards so their energy and questions are being directed into the cards being shuffled. Online doesn’t create that, it blocks off all emotion and energy, not to mention, devices create an energy field that could interfere with the said reading. Essentially these TikTok witches are just reading them selves, if you really want the truth.

If we can't measure it in any way, then how can we know this like you do?

The funny thing about the twin flame stuff, is that the actual belief states that you are *not* supposed to end up with your twin flame. It’s not just like a super “soulmate.” Your twin flame is essentially the other half of you, but like looking in a mirror. They will tear you apart. It’s supposed to be a learning experience. You learn about yourself from your twin flame, but in the most painful way. Like learning a fire is hot by getting burnt. And they don’t always have to be romantic connections, it could be a best friend or sibling. It really irritates me when people take these real beliefs and misconstrue them so badly. It’s harmful, and it waters down the actual belief. Like when it was a trend to say “x is my spirit animal!” when a spirit animal is a native american belief with deep, spiritual meaning. Not a cute animal you like. Anyways, love your videos funkyfrogbait!!

@wanderingegg_7 ай бұрын
@@ilmianafirmantika8079 So it’s a concept in Greek mythology, Hinduism, I believe ancient Egypt as well, but I haven’t done too much research into Ancient Egyptian culture and beliefs. They are all a bit different but along the same lines. In Greece, Plato believed that humans were originally created with 4 legs, 4 arms, 2 hearts, 2 brains, etc. but that the gods felt humans would be too powerful and ended up splitting us in half, leaving us to wonder the earth in search of our missing half. In Hinduism, the concept is shown through Shiva and Shakti, and is understood as one soul between two bodies. It’s very possible that many other cultures share similar beliefs. The term “Twin Flames” itself is not used in these cultures though, it was coined by an English author named Marie Corelli. It’s used today basically as an over arching term for the concept shared through many cultures. It’s definitely hard to find information out there that hasn’t been romanticized about it because it comes from cultures that are so old and rich with history. I’m no expert myself! I just try to do my best to learn the actual historical and cultural beliefs that these spiritual concepts stem from.

The twin flame thing goes even deeper and scarier than tik tok. There's a literal twin flame cult where people are allegedly coerced into staying in bad relationships, pressured into pursuing relationships with people who have made it clear they're not interested (to the point where members have been arrested for stalking) forced into relationships they didn't want, and there's even accusations that they are coercing people (who are not trans) to transitioning. All while being emotionally and psychologically abusive and taking their members' money. Also the leader thinks he's a reincarnation of Jesus. Because of course he does. Both Netflix and Prime have really interesting (and by that I mean horrifying) documentaries about it.

funny enough with the whole pop culture deity, that's kinda a thing in Shintoism. the phrase is "8 million gods" but it really means an endless number because anything can be a god. if something compels you to act and inspires you it can be worshipped as a god for the emotions it provides. This means figures like Jesus, Mohamud, and Abraham are all often considered Kami because they inspire a lot of people. it's a really interesting idea if tiktok didn't make it dumb.

That actually explains some things I simply can't get my mind wrapped around lately. Last year or so some stories (novels? Antologies? Mangas? hell knows) by the name 'Heaven Official's Blessing' started to get WILDLY popular. From what I was able to understand from it it's essentially g@y p*rn written on a Chinese self-publishing site and I have no idea how it got so popular, but in my understanding it plays with the same idea of people ascending to heavens for being too popular and other things that might make perfect sense in Chinese but in translation they look pretty off and weird
@summernovah8 ай бұрын
@@weirdlittlesisterSo, Heaven Official's Blessing or Tian Guan Ci Fu was a webnovel, yes, written by the author MXTX who also published two other webnovels, Mo Dao Zu Shi and SVSSS, one of which gained a live action that got super popular in 2019. While her previous works did have smut in them, Heaven Official's Blessing is the only one of them not to have anything explicit, so I'd very much hesitate to call it porn. Its just basically a BL romance with a lot of bureaucracy, worldbuilding, action, and mystery (i mean there's even a mecha in there towards the end). But yes, it does follow a lot of the Chinese high fantasy tropes of Heaven including a huge amount of gods who ascend if they prove their amazing at something or show a lot of honorable traits, ie ascending cuz you can fight super well, or if you have a lot of valor, etc. MXTX's other works actually are more low fantasy, but that's neither here nor there. And while I'd hate to just say that Japan's Shintoism is exactly the same as what you find in Chinese high fantasy, if you're not well versed in either, yes it is very similar.
@weirdlittlesister8 ай бұрын
@@summernovah Oohhh ok, I kinda just assumed it's p*rn from the readers reactions on forums, which have probably contained a lot of shipping and adding elements that were not in the original :D Nevertheless, thank you very much for the clarification!
@summernovah8 ай бұрын
@@weirdlittlesister no problem! Glad I could help! Altho one last clarification, there is implied sex in one of the epilogue chapters after the story finishes, so while it's not explicitly in the story, there is some extrapolating fans can do. But in general, a lot of fans of TGCF love to write/read smut of the couples (maybe since there's none of it in the actual story itself this time), so I'm not surprised you've run into it lol
@tinytortoise19988 ай бұрын
@@weirdlittlesister TGCF (and MXTX's other novels) actually gets pretty deep! Though it's usually framed as a romance, it has a pretty intricate plot that delves into deeper issues such as class and the ability of one person to make a difference (and the toll attempting to do so can take). It's definitely not a fluffy romance book that just has bits of plot here and there to propel the romance (though there's nothing wrong with those types of books either!)

As a non-binary witch, yes, you hit the nail on the head on how toxic pretty much anything on manipulating someone else is. I mean, duh. We personally view "masculine" and "feminine" as NOT equal to "man" and "woman". As in, someone who identifies as a 'man' can be all kinds (or none) of 'feminine', and so on etc. There is no limit to how a human can express themselves and choose to present. The danger arrives when someone sees 'masculine' and 'feminine' as opposing forces or something. In competition. That is WRONG. They are 2 sides of the same coin and every single human has traits of both. And they are not limited to humanity -- those traits exist all over the natural world.

Actively trying to cause pain to someone else & playing karma is never good. I've used return to sender on an ex of mine who really hurt me. Especially cause I wasn't sure if it was all in my head or if he actively was doing me wrong. He now is homeless & jobless, having to rely on others which he definitely hates. Take that sharp object & carve your name into one. Then the persons or things name you're trying to let go of in the other. The ends of your string together around the candles to tie them together. Then place your candles in the bowl of salt (make sure there is enough salt that the candles stand upright) Light both candles & let them burn long enough for the string to catch on fire. Allow the string to burn all the way. While the string is burning, breaking the tie between the two candles, recite: "(person or things name), this portion of our soul contact is now complete. I now release the ties that bind. I now claim back which is mine." Close your eyes & visualize the energy being returned to you & the connection being broken between you & the person/thing. Allow the candles to burn down completely. Then dispose of the wax & bowl of salt into the nearest water source, while giving thanks to either nature or whatever you believe in (I thank Loki normally since I'm specifically Lokean) Tbh though the cheapest way is just using yourself & nothing else. Similar to how Christians pray or manifest. Just focus on letting go of this person & just ask the universe or whoever that you want to help you let go. You are inherently powerful without candles & spells. It's just sometimes it's more effective for others to have a visual aid.

It’s a very real thing, the only reason I’m even still alive today, and it’s been practiced for longer than most modern religions like Christianity. TikTok just gets it all wrong. That’s what people are calling out, not witchcraft in general. I’m guessing you’re a 14 year old boy and TikTok was the first time you found out about witchcraft? Maybe do actual research instead of making assumptions…

@@Turtletoots3here's a tip for ya.. the reddit atheists lost. And they lost badly. I know because I was one of them. Stop mocking people for doing what almost everybody does, it doesn't make you more intelligent, it makes you an asshole.

@@Turtletoots3”Cringe stuff”. Buddy, witchcraft has been practiced religiously for hundreds of years. Stop shitting on others for their religious or spiritual beliefs.

Oof, the end there demonstrates perfectly how the "new age hippie" to tradwife pipeline works.

My neighbor is a self procaimed witch. If there's a culture to steal from she does. She's a huge Trumper too. It's weird.

former practicing witch here, i don't have the time or money to practice. i thought i'd share my thoughts on this stuff. i still mess with tarot cards sometimes and you are absolutely correct: you can't do a reading for someone through random tiktok. i've always been so confused with the pop culture deity thing. really feels like they're appropriating tulpas. not the first time people have appropriated eastern culture... also damn, can we stop trying love spells? jfc. that "diva cup" recipie is legit from midsommar too.

I've always wanted a tarot reading done, is that bad or offensive?

@@alexhollinghurst3945As a witch who messes with tarot cards, nope! Tarot cards are totally fine. There are certain things you don't mess with, for instance love spells, but a lot of witchcraft isn't bad.

@@alexhollinghurst3945 It’s not bad! You don’t have to be a pagan to want a tarot reading done, as others are allowed to be curious! I’d recommend seeing if there are any pagan stores near you, because they may have tarot readings. They probably would have it on their website (if they have one) or you could ask in person I have a store near me that hosts a one day event each month, with people coming to vend (some of which are tarot readers)

I know it's cliché but, the name of Jesus is free and very powerful in the spiritual world.

First time stumbling onto your channel and I LOVE your humour: I think I’m gonna stick around! 😁 As someone who’s not on Tik Tok and practices numerous spiritual stuff I am not surprised the “witchtok” community is like that and also how wrong they are… reasons for me to continue remaining blissfully unaware of the curse that is Tik Tok 😅 What’s scary is how believing people are of everything they see on Tik Tok and how oblivious they are to how it’s negatively affecting their life and mental health. Just like all social media, moderation and discernment are important! Stay safe everyone!
