Hey I'm a guy and not even a parent but just wanted to say I enjoy your videos and they help me too with motivation to clean through depression. Sometimes it's overwhelming but watching and listening to somebody else doing it gives me courage enough to start. And that's really more than half the battle for me.

Haven’t started looking yet but I just wanted to say that I’ve really been enjoying your channel since I found it a couple of weeks ago. You’re so sincere, and one can tell that you struggle a lot (like so many others!), yet you do your very best and work your way through your depression and anxiety. It’s extremely motivational to watch you taking yourself off the floor and taking control over your home and life, and I admire you deeply for doing that AND sharing it with so many others in hope to help. You’re so, so, so brave and strong! What an amazing woman! Love from Sweden 🇸🇪

Nobody says you have to be a minimalist. I’m not. I love beautiful things and they bring me joy. However , I don’t keep things that I no longer use in my closet. My home is organized, uncluttered and lovely.

.....I agree... I am NOT a minimalist, I won't ever be, and I know this about myself, lol. I like having certain things around me that bring me comfort, etc. If others wish to do the minimal thing, then it's good , since they wish to do that. I also believe there's nothing wrong with having things at your disposal to help you organize, I don't refer to that as " hoarding ".... that's just me, lol. Self care is a journey, and if you spend even 10 minutes, in the morning, to do a quick routine of cleanse/ moisturizer/ ( tinted with a sunscreen is great ) sunscreen, and eyebrows on( that's what I call doing my brows lol) and a pretty lipgloss or pinky nude lipstick....gurrrlllll, you'll feel more " like yourself ", and you'll be inspired, as time goes on. :) I am in my 60's , and I understand about " not always looking put together ", I have 3 grown daughters. I commend you, no apologies needed and you no doubt inspire others! Blessings!!~

Wow when you said that your hoarding shoes stems from never having shoes as little, that hit home girl! I vividly remember one winter when my sole broke, and there was so much snow, and my feet were wet and so cold, and I was too embarrassed to ask for new ones because we couldn't afford them... And then a couple winters later, the same happened again. Wow. I never really connected the dots. I buy high quality shoes now, and only own like 7 pairs total. I've grown a lot My trauma does not define me.

I think hoarding and anxiety go hand in hand. I find myself holding onto things for just very unpractical reasons and the whole "oh if I get rid of this then something bad will happen". I think that's part of why people have the misconception that if you have OCD everything is always perfectly neat, which is definitely not the case. I'm going along this journey in my home right there with you, keep up the amazing work! 💪🏻 Also, I clean the best in my pj's. My babe gets cared for then when he sleeps, mama gets stuff done. Lol no makeup, hair a mess.

When I start to panic/get anxious I am the opposite way. I can't sit with my thoughts so I start cleaning and getting rid of things. Sometimes I don't remember what got rid of because I did it in a fit of anxiety and I'll scour the house looking for it. Before I realized what I was doing I would do it at work too and that was problematic. Our brains work in the oddest ways.

One of the main reasons I decided to start my decluttering journey, was to have time for me. I wanted to get up in the morning and feel a sense of freedom from my 'stuff'. So far I've gotten rid of about 10 bin bags full of things. My kitchen cupboards are totally accessable as is my large cupboard in my lounge. I'm feeling good!

Is the choice to let go of the converse because of the recent use of the pentagram? Pentagrams have been used throughout history by many cultures and religions and have been dated as far back as 3500 bce. In Mesopotamia it represented a goddess of love named Ishtar. The Greeks used it as a symbol of well being and often adorned vases with it. The Hebrews used it as a symbol of Jerusalem marking its 5 letters. It also has been used to represent the five senses, and in Christianity the 5 wounds of Christ. In traditional Chinese medicine the points represent: Earth, wind, fire, metal, and wood. It is really used so vastly and generally for protection or other positive meanings. In Christianity it was often used as a positive symbol and was not associated with Satanism until 1856 due to a misinterpretation of symbols by Eliphas a Roman Catholic priest.

Besides having a shopping addiction when it comes to bins and notebooks, I think I know where "my" hoarding originated: I used to live on social welfare for 9 years. During this time I didn't have enough of anything, living from hand to mouth with two kids. Once I had a job again I began to build up stocks like crazy. I never ever want to run out of anything anymore, not even a battery or a garbage bag. The lockdowns were hell for my anxiety to run out of something and not being allowed to go out and get it. Like you, I am an organised hoarder. Everything is sorted in a way, but sometimes there is just not enough space for all this. That is when it starts to look and feel chaotic. I wish I could get rid of this anxiety of being without ... whatever. At this occasion, my prayers go to all those in Germany who lost everything during the floods.

Beautiful job!! I have Bipolar and am a 66 year old woman, retired. I try to declutter but I enjoy having shoes, clothes , some jewelry, and quite a bit of decor. Not a hoarder. Not a minimalist and don't need it desire to be. We are all different and if our homes are neat and comfy, clean, I think that is enough. But I wish you well. I'm not a parent but what helps me is all our shoes and clothes stay in our own room/closets. That a few things may be out like a pair or two by the door in an organizer. But they go back at the end of the week or one pair may stay.

Boy, are you ever right! The de-cluttered, clean and organized closet and other spaces affect a person's mental outlook! When I accomplish this, I find using that space is so much easier and serves the purpose of having the space to begin with. Meaning, I can find what I need and have confidence, if I continue to consistently utilize it the same way, I will be speedy and happy doing so. Makes my daily activities so much quicker and easier and THAT makes a huge difference.

I understand the childhood memories tgat you shared. I also have a lot of shoes. I think if it's something you use, there shouldn't be a rule you can't keep them. Extreme minimalism for the sake of saying you are minimal seems too much to me. I have been living more intentionally. Keeping what I actually use. I have very few kitchen gadgets-- because of don't use them. But I am a teacher and enjoy investing in more expensive shoes since I'm on my feet and want to feel professional. It's literally all in what is important to you and adds to your life. If you have a huge craft bin but never craft-- obviously that would need to leave. Your home should be a curated place to feel calm, happy and let you live your best life. Don't worry about what other minimalists have or don't. 💗

I just wanted to pop in here to mention that we shouldn't give shoes to a second kid. I was also big on saving shoes and letting little ones have used shoes since they don't destroy them too bad before needing bigger ones but recently read a couple studies saying that's bad because the shoes take the shape of the first kids feet and when the second kid wears them the shoes try to change the shape of their feet which could cause back problems later on. Was really hard for me to get rid of all those cute shoes my oldest loved and i know my youngest would love too but ultimately i value their health more especially since I have back problems myself. Just an fyi from someone who didn't know this either ;)

I would be interested in knowing who funded the article. Was it some shoe manufacturer or someone who would otherwise benefit from the sale of more shoes? I have never heard of this and not quite sure I fully believe it. I would read any article that you may be able to show though. I agree that shoes can take on the shape of your foot, just not seeing how that could harm the next child.

Please don’t apologize for how you look when cleaning and organizing. It goes against nature for us to look like Beaver’s mom with perfect makeup, clothes, heels, and pearls when we’re truly cleaning. For me getting grungy while cleaning makes getting cleaned up feel all that much better. Also, never apologize for forgetting the mess while spending time with your family. There’s nothing more important than family. Messes will get tended to as there is time to take care of it later.

You organize very well. Kudos to you for sticking with your minimalism project. You are not a minimalist though. You have so many items. The fact that you need so many storage bins tells me you aren’t a minimalist. For example, have about 18 pair of shoes that were just yours, and you couldn’t get rid of any of them! You organized all of your stuff well. Hopefully you can remember all that you have and where you put it. I admire your ability to organize. I understand where you are at. I have too much stuff still and say I am minimizing. I am a senior citizen and I have a lifetime of stuff that I am going through. I have been on this journey for two years. It is hard to be really a minimalist when you have several children and a husband. Keep up your minimizing. One day you will get there.

If you truly want to keep your house clean, not buying new things is not enough - it is better to unclutter and throw away stuff you don’t use for a long time, because otherwise there still won’t be enough space in your house and moving stuff around or organising it in boxes won’t change it. Keep going with donating things you don’t use, no one actually need that many things.

I agree that it's important to get down to a number of items we can manage. My kitchen is dated and ugly but huge and can hold a lot of stuff like things I only use once a year/couple of years (e.g. waffle maker). Her problem in the closet was that she WASN'T able to keep it organized because there was too much stuff in it.

Our cordless Dyson failed in the same way and it ended up being the tube portion (we tested it against parts from a friend's Dyson to troubleshoot). I looked online, found the part number, and then ordered it. I don't know how much it was, but it was an easy fix.

There's nothing wrong with saving items for other children in the future. You will find it gets easier decluttering as you go through rooms again.

Hi Laura. So glad to see another video from you and you know that I love your authenticity. I've fractured pelvic bones after a fall 8 days ago, so am laid up in bed bored out of my tree. But every cloud .... I'm catching up on reading and videos without any guilt at all, cos I cannot move to do anything. I shall enjoy watching you and file your tips for another day. Stay well, stay safe. xx

I am so sorry to hear you are down for the moment but yes please do not feel guilty for not being able to do things right now. This too shall pass and when you are well and recovered I will still be here for you my friend! Just know you are doing something....you are healing your body by resting. This is the hardest work we can do at times. Hang in there and Stay Mighty! Praying for your speedy recovery!💪🙏🤎🦋

It was like perfect width for the space and tall too. I'm wondering how it is holding up now. It looks a little awkward to get to. For me personally, if something isn't extremely easy to access, I'd tend not to put the thing back.

Dyson had my warranty on file. We were fortunate to have a local dyson repair shop so we went by, no reservation and dropped it off. They had it inspected and repaired within 45 min 👍🏼

We're not be too far in age... I was in high school when the da Bulls won their first 3-peat in 91, 92, and 93. 😉 I was in college when they won the 2nd round. That was an amazing team for sure!

@@Ripplesinthewaters That's my husband's year actually... I graduated in '94. My friends and I drove around the city when they won in '93... the vibe in the air was so good. Just joy and celebration... at least where we were. 😉

Hii! I also have a shoe tower. To fit a 3rd pair of shoes on each lane, place the shoes toe-heel. So when looking at the shoes, and the shoes are both facing you (toes part facing you), just flip one of the shoes. I really hope that makes sence. So from left to right you'll see, (1st pair) right shoe toe, left shoe heel. (2nd pair) right shoe toe, left shoe heel. (3rd pair) right shoe toe, left shoe heel. That's just my tip I use since I too had so many pairs. Have a great day everyone!!!

Those hoses and all that there's is a way you can clean them clean them out first of all drop a pen or you know something round drop it down there see if it comes out freely or get stuck cuz then you know you got to clog so you can stick pretty much like one of those metal hangers you know open it up grab grab the stuff that's stuck up in there and the voila all those all those vacuums you can clean take apart clean just remember Mark the the ones where they go next back together 👍

I love the square 3x3 for shoes! It would be better with bins and you wouldn't have to look at them when the door is open. The aldi thing is flimsy and shoes will fall off

Dyson has a two year warranty. Call their customer service and they can check if the warranty is still good. If not they offer repairing the vacuum as well. I got a brand new vacuum after using it for about 18 months and the warranty started over with the new vacuum.
