@@conchobar yeah, this is purely -- or should be purely - for business use. As they said in the video, they want to have a solution for someone who is jumping on and off of calls throughout the day. As for the battery, if that's truly a massive deal, I'm certain there will be an optional battery pack. In any case, this is a nice preview of a lot of what we'll get on the Quest 3, which is why its interesting.

With all the competition coming, I find the Quest Pro to be underwhelming. The battery life of the headset and controllers is a pathetic 1-2 hours. Accessories are very expensive $50 for a facial interface, $50 for wire earphones and $120 for a carry case. Quest Pro isn't being pushed for gamers and with pathetic battery life will be useless for productivity.

The only real competition announced is Magic Leap 2, Hololens 2, and Lynx R-1. The headset is only as good as its utility, and Zukk failed to show much real world utility. I did like the "Magic Room" idea, but I'd you only have 2 hours of battery life, you are limited to short collabs.

@@jordanmackay6746 Software wise yes, although the Chinese market (which meta/quest is banned from) will lure all lot of game developers to port their games to Pico4. I wouldn't say quest pro comes even close to blowing pico out the water. Worse screen, same processor, worse battery life... only real advantage quest pro has eye tracking/foveated rendering. Sure overall quest pro is a bit better but when you consider that Pico 4 cost 429€ and quest pro around 1500€, no one in their right mind would even consider quest pro at least for gaming.

@@thwind that's incorrect, the Pico 4 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2. The Quest Pro uses the Snapdragon XR2+, it even shows the processor in the video at around the 3:04 mark. The XR2+ is 50% more powerful than the XR2. So the Pico 4 will NOT be able to compete with the Quest Pro.

You gotta' be able to charge it AND use it while on a tether. Battery life is already terrible on Quest, and it's even worse here (expect about an hour.) If I could power my Quest over the link cable, I would absolutely use it more than I do.

You already have mixed reality in Quest 2 (Cubins, for example), it is just that there isn't enough developers making use of it because of how ugly it is in Quest 2, I hope this will change now with Quest Pro, Pico 4 and the upcoming Quest 3.

$2,449.99 AUD Comparing the main specs we care about such as resolution and battery life it does not change that much from the Quest 2. Sure colour pass through is great for the AR features, the face tracking will add immersion in social apps. But it's a big fat NOPE from me at that price. As for it being an enterprise VR headset, it only lasts 1-2 hours before needing another charge.

Been a big fan of the quest line and how much it grew the vr space, but since being bought by Meta it's become clear that it isn't being marketed towards the original demographic.
