Once again Minecraft proves the realm of possibilities in this game is pretty much infinite.

Genuinely just an astounding level of prowess from both you and Metta_tommy. Never would have considered that you could use text displays like this.

Text displays are dope! I have a PvP map where at the end, text display entities build a massive board of statistics. It's something I wished I could have done but it wouldn't have looked good. They have full support for emojis and that's really helpful too. 🏹

Could make some "cursed" blocks with this. Vertical half slabs finally.

The fact Samus was in this video deserves a like alone, but this was also really well done and informative so that’s also a big like

I can't wait for somebody to remake Bad Apple in Minecraft using text display entities

It's polygons. Mojang just introduced manipulable polygon entities to the game. My gods. WIth a powerful enough computer, the sky's the limit on what's possible. DOOM in minecraft with command block logic & text entities with no resource packs? Likely possible. Minecraft in Minecraft? It's only a matter of time.
@Nibroc_64 Жыл бұрын
I'd imagine a lot of DOOM could be done with blocks with custom textures, and maybe a custom texture for the HUD, too. So, it might very well be possible to keep the poly count down to a playable level... The enemies could probably have a tag each (as afaik they don't spawn randomly), and be invisible armour stands maybe?

@@Nibroc_64 I'm saying we don't need to resort to bringing in outside assets anymore. Just pure lines of code in datapacks or command blocks, working directly in minecraft.
@octosaurinvasion Жыл бұрын
we could already do doom with vanilla with just a huge screen, it would just run at 100spf (seconds per frame)
@Nibroc_64 Жыл бұрын
@@jayglenn837 Yeah, ik, i was trying to think of a way it could be done without so many display entities that the game would crawl to a halt But yeah, it's probably possible to make DOOM with only the text display entities, it just most likely needs a more powerful computer than is currently practical

how many entities does his pc need to run for this? well to calculate that we would first do by setting x=number of divisions, now each side would have 3^x number of blocks on a side, meaning no division=1, 1 division=3, 2 divisions=9, 3 divisions=27 and 4 divisions=81 (thats where he stopped in the video) however were in 3D so we would then do (3^x)^3 to be the total amount of blocks each time theres a division a number of blocks stay "alive" and the number after 1 division is 20 so we can multiply it by 20/27 therefore removing the unwanted blocks: (3^x)^3 × 20/27 but what about the 0, 2, 3 and 4 divisions? well we just raise the fraction to the x: (3^x)^3 × (20/27)^x now if theres no divisions we just multiply it by 1, telling us theres one block, having a single division we multiply by 20/27 telling us theres "alive" blocks, then for 2 divisions we multiply by 400/729 telling us theres 400 "alive" blocks, then for 3 divisions we multiply by 8,000/19,683 telling us theres 8,000 "alive" blocks and for 4 divisions we multiply by 160,000/531,441 telling us theres 160,000 blocks however each block has 6 sides so we have to multiply the end result by 6: (3^x)^3 × (20/27)^x × 6 now how many entities his pc has to run i will show by setting x=number of divisions and n=number of entities: x=0 then n=6 x=1 then n=120 x=2 then n=2,400 x=3 then n=48,000 x=4 then n=860,000 so yeah no wonder he has 9 frames per second after only about a 10th of it loaded
