This is a great review, and why practical testing like this is important. Never ran into it myself but that beeping is sort of hilarious, and I'd find that incredibly annoying on the job. Going to link to this. Big ups to Tim

Does anybody know, if Metabo fixed the beeping issue? Firmwarupdate on the next batch or so?

These are absolutely awesome. I don’t have any issues. Best I’ve used.

LET'S GO TJ 🏁 It's rated at 880 ft/lbs.. having protection at the very top of It's range is smart.. The working range is 100 ft/lbs to probably somewhere up to about 500 foot-pounds. After that, just get a high torque impact
@whatfreedom7 Жыл бұрын
Yeah beyond I wouldn’t want to push it that hard and just sitting there hammering away.
@engineer_alv Жыл бұрын
I really expected more from this impact. From the 1 or 2 reviews I saw before this one it looked like it had more torque than all other mid range impact wrenches, however that overload protection seems a bit overreacting. It would be kind of embarrassing using it to set a few 8" by 1/2 lag bolts on the jobsite and being unable to finish the job because the tool protected itself way too soon

I have also metabo impact wrenches and i had that problem too, I noticed that my socket and impact wrench were vibrating a lot so used another socket and the problem that the machine shut down was over. I can see yours is vibrating also a lot so maybe also use another one or push the impact wrench to solve the vibrating.
@OUshaka29 сағат бұрын
I was wondering this, too. If the tool shuts-down, by noticing the quality of socket that is being used on it is poor, then I would buy one!! Guys that run cheap, less-dense but soft impact sockets, do seem to burn-up impacts and especially wear-out the 1/2” or 3/4” drive, where the socket sits. Maybe the socket isn’t rated for 800 ft/lbs?!?!?
@j.c.vanniekerk7761 Жыл бұрын
To me it looks like a user error because it only did that alarm ounce your hand moved a bit i think it is shutting down because it sences the tool is swinging or rotating and it thinks it is going to brake your wrist
@whatfreedom7 Жыл бұрын
If that’s what it’s doing that’s pretty smart.
@Shoptoolreviews Жыл бұрын
No, that's not the case. There is no anti-kickback protection and really not needed on an impact wrench. There is not a lot of pinch issues like with a drill or cordless ratchet. Our hand moves after the overload protection kicks in, and our pressure to keep the tool stable pushes the tool a few degrees. If it was a rotational thing, then it should have kicked in at 6:28 in the video. Thanks for watching.

Did anyone else notice the impacting sounded faster/stronger in auto mode when he was breaking the nuts? Or is it just,me cause I'm wearing headphones.

Yes, the Auto mode does have a ramp-up in power, not just all at once. Thanks for watching.

Meanwhile my mid torque rigid brushless impact wrench broke 600 ft-lbs under the 10 seconds mark.😊
@whatfreedom7 Жыл бұрын
I have a rigid and Milwaukee mid torque non brushless on the rigid and not sure on the Milwaukee. I’ve been very pleased with the rigid and so so on the Milwaukee. My big issue on the Milwaukee is it’s insanely loud but not near as strong as it sounds where the rigid is quieter and usually does what I want it to do.
@Chris-du7hi Жыл бұрын
Not great, wonder it it will do a bunch of 250ish ftlbs back to back without going into protection. Second time that thing started beeping at me it would turn into a projectile.

Metabo is a respectable brand, I think they didn't quite deliver on this tool. Whatever they thought was snart didn't deliver in real life. I wonder if they really got good feedback during trials/testing. I've used my dewalt dcf892 and have hammered on bolts that won't budge for like a minute straight. I've also run the tool seriously hot several times. My boss owns a dcf894 which he runs untill the grease melts and runs out of the tool - and still it holds up. Dewalt seems in general inferior to Metabo in build quality.
@ShredworthyDave Жыл бұрын
My 894 does the same. I just refill it with grease and it's good to go.

I was about to buy one, this made me rethink my purchase.... do you know if the safety limit comes from the wrench or the battery? have you tried switching battery with different types to see if it occures at lower or higher levels? thanks for your work. greetings from france!
@garrisong7 ай бұрын
I notice your wrist rotates to the right slightly when the cutout happens. On my metabo drill if I rotate my wrist it stops and makes the same beeping sound. Not sure if that’s the same thing going on. Pull the trigger under no load and rotate your wrist see if it does it then.

Have you achieved 800 Nm? When you turn it to e.g. 9th gear and keep the button pressed all the time, does it turn 800 or does it buzz, and what if you press it again?

A good review, but I can't give a thumbs up to a product that under delivered. It might be a problem with the EU regulations, that all batteries must be compatible with other tool manufacturers products. A great idea, but i did see this problem coming.
