Started a Wlock on the release of WOTLK classic, started off slow (like most classes) but as you progress into the talent tree, the power of the lock becomes apparent. at lvl 38 you can tank 4-5 lvl 41 mobs at the same time, keeping your dots up. Those will heal you through the damage, you can use your voidwalker shield ability to soak the damage, and your healthstone will heal you pretty much to full. Then its just drain soul on each mob thats below 25% hp and your mana comes back for each kill. Finding yourself almost at full hp and full mana after those kinds of pulls is kinda crazy. Really liking the lock so far. Cant wait to see what it has in store

I thought destruction was a better spec for a warlock, Since enemies died faster and the damage has a higher burst. If you compare it to a single-target affliction - it's true. However, the advantage of affliction over destro is that afri takes on five or more opponents at once and does not worry about the lack of mana during the fight. Additionally, corruption returns 40% hp from damage it deals... Instant howl of terror is also a very useful thing. Basically, when playing as a warlock in afli you don't have to worry about anything until you have +10 opponents on you and you're out of mana And the voidwalker shield is on coolDown. This style of play is a bit like taking a lollipop from a child. I'm now level 77 and have two specs: destruction and afli. If someone from the opposite faction attacks me (I play as an ally), I feel more confident being in destro. I think that afli level 70-80 is not as fun due to the lack of haste from the equipment. If you like taking on opponents wholesale, this style of play will suit you

Warlock is my fav class in terms of balance between cast range skills + pet for helpin you which is awesome , but the biggest problem with locks atlest for me was the soulshard grinding :(

Okay - I already have a level 80 warlock and I can tell you something about how it was to level. Well, corruption is actually a great power and allows you to take on several opponents at once without danger. Add voidalker. Spam corruption and agony during movement. You don't have to cast-just apply those 2 Dots And in case of danger or low hp- siphon life. As Simple as can be. Almost boring 😅 But seriously, it gives a lot of satisfaction and fun. Especially when you are attacked by a player from the opposite faction who thinks that you are already halfway dead- Then warlock affliction gives the greatest satisfaction and the opponent dies in Disbelief and with his mouth open, lol

so i have my void walker set to defensive but when i target 1 mob thats all by itself, and that mob hits 25% the mob starts to run in a random direction usually in the way of a pack then the fucking void walker follows it or gets too close to the pack then agros the whole pack and im dead

I remember using this playstyle in the original WOTLK, and it was definitely the fastest way to take out mobs more or less continuously without stopping. But... it was also kinda exhausting and boring at the same time. I wound up hating it. On that style, I never left the VW in passive mode, he was always in defensive mode but with his threat turned off. No reason not to have him whacking away at the mobs too. Weird thing to say, but I just couldn't stick to the spec even when my goal was to level at a fast clip. It just wasn't fun. I wound up going with more of a succubus-centric build for leveling, something like 21/x/13 starting with Destro to get the boosted Immolate, damage reduction, boosted Succubus, and Shadowburn. Shadowburn replaced the VW sac as a catch-up method when I got behind... basically insta-killed any already-damaged mob. And drain-life if I had any free time slots. The Succubus stayed in the defensive mode and became the mob finisher on anything that didn't die to the Immolate/Corruption/Agony sequence, with a mouseover attack macro if I needed to reorder her targeting queue. I think people discount just how much cost-free continuous damage a succubus can put out for leveling purposes. That isn't as fast, but its a lot more fun. Particularly, the initial damage of the Immolate and the Succubus's first mele + Lash attack often takes out 50% of the mob's health right off the bat. And I could change-up the strategy without respec'ing if I got bored. Also very easy to bandage-up without stopping. And you never have to revisit a mob once you've run your initial casts on it. The two sequences that work well are: immolate, dot, fear, dot (succubus runs after the mob and it is often finished off before it can actually return). Rinse and repeat. The second sequence is Succubus first for initial aggro, dot, dot, immolate (succubus usually holds aggro until the first immolate tick), fear, Retarget succubus to move to the next mob. Retarget pet as necessary to clean-up anything that makes it back to you, otherwise let it do the clean-up on its own initiative. If my fingers get tired or I need a bit of recovery time, I go with strategy #3 which is target pet for initial aggro, dot, dot, immolate, drain. Mob dies before making it back to me. This is a more mana-intensive mechanism (though less than one might think because the pet is doing a DOT's worth of continuous damage just by itself), but its also more fun in my view. Plus the mobs tend to be closer to you at the point they die so looting is easier. Past 21/x/13 one can go in any direction. I always go for 'fun' which for me means switching-up talent focus every so often.

I'll be playing lock until 55 on fresh because locks are almost as cool as dk's and also fast levelers/good for wpvp, very helpful. Although I think I'm going to go for a bit of a hybrid and start putting points in demo around level 30 after siphon for the survivability. And more importantly, so I don't get the felhunter aff talents because -incubus- succubus is bis (in my heart at least, I know it's not actually ideal but I choose to ignore that reality and substitute my own)

i don't think you need to have a level 55 anymore to create a DK. they removed that requirement for WotLK classic

Hey yo! Seems like the "Improved Drain Soul" talent doesn´t work properly. Even if I macro my pet to be passive when I start to drain and therefore execute the killing blow for sure, it won´t return any mana. :( Any hints on this?

you don't have to deal the killing blow you just have to be draining its soul when it dies.

I know it's a year old but you go back and forth a couple times : invest in empower corruption, than actually no, if you're low level invest in improved corruption...it's frustrating because as we follow your steps, we're actually missguided and can't go back without spending the gold. It's unfortunate given that it's the whole point and it's a good guide but come on man, no back and forth ;)

@@beiggo21 fel hunter improves int+spirit, with fel armor, you get spell power from spirit too, which means, fel hunter improves your mana+spellpower. In addition, fel hunter will do more dmg the more dots you have on target. In addition, with a talent, felhunter mana regens with its shadowbite ability (that is already buffed by your dots) and also increases its buffs (which increase your SP). On top of the extra resistances, which are insane on their own right and the raw damage from fel hunter
