Listen to this entire album, its amazing and its not straight up rap. Then, when you're done with that, react to Slaughter House. That's a masterpiece, every lyric and video visual has a meaning and it is amazing. If you try and figure it out, I'll give you the hint that Gaia runs the Slaughter House.

Here's the typical next steps in Ren: Tale of Jenny & Screech: 3 one take videos that tell the tragic stories of Jenny, Screech, and Violet. Bring tissues... big burly metal guys such as yourselves have needed them. Awesome storytelling. Money Game Trilogy: live for 1, lyric video for 2, live for 3. Political and socioeconomic commentary with a great hook for the first 2 songs, and the third is a cinematic musical masterpiece. 1 was a one take, and 3 has one single cut, but otherwise played live. How to be Me, Suic!de, and For Joe - dark content. Deeply moving. Approach with caution. Bring tissues for Suic!de. Chalk outlines - along with How to be Me - one take Duets with "Chinchilla" who deserves a deep dive of her own. Genesis, down with the beat, Power, What you Want, Illest of our times, Seven sins - all amazing Rap tracks. The Big Push - Ren's former busking band. Highlights are War Pigs, I Shot the Sherriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop, and Bongo Bong, but it's ALL good...
@99subetai13 күн бұрын
I mostly like heavy metal, but Ren crosses a ton of musical genres and boundaries. You can't really classify him or his music. Hi Ren is really more a performance, than a song. But many of the others are songs, with elements of storytelling/bard craft in the Tale of Jenny & Screech, Murderer (rap if you want to see that side of him, pretty interesting), For Joe (live is best), doing Black Sabbath- War Pigs with the band, Big Push and all the songs with Chinchilla.

The Ren rabbit hole is deep and vast! No 2 songs are alike. Ren is a style bender! He is a master of all! He can sing, rap, act, beatbox, edit, make his own beats, produce, mix, play many instruments just to name a few talents. You want more eyes on your band? You all saw his talent VERY fast (as most do), follow Ren's ride and read the top few comments of each video. Document it for us to watch and it will change all of your lives as he has changed ours. You never know what you are in for in a Ren song. Please buckle up and take the journey for all to see! If you build the videos, we the people will come!

It's not your usual song structure. How he does this live which I've seen on KZbin is unreal. How he can remember all the lyrics. Playing chords whilst rapping and switching up flows is so hard. It's next level stuff ❤

You guys are going to love The Tale of Jenny & Screech (3 Shakespearean tales in one 13 minute MV). That song created the genre "Bardcore" for a reason :) Ren deliberately plays some of his bard style stuff with a slightly flat tuned D string to keep the listener on edge. He doesn't always do bard style stuff though, he raps like a master. He sings over several octaves beautifully, he plays several instruments - all self taught. Also, he produces 99% of his own music.

Ren puts his whole heart and soul into each video/song he creates and performs. You can see this in his live busking videos which I hope you get to soon. Check out The Big Push (Ren busking) sining 'I Shot the Sheriff". Ren does it all with a ragae vibe, skat singing, rapping all while playing a guitar and looking fabulous.

I am starting some psychotherapy (what happens to a kid, sadly, sticks it seems!). One of the reasons though is because I listened to Ren. "It is this eternal dance that separates human beings From angels, from demons, from gods And I must not forget, we must not forget That we are human beings." I can't "cure" myself. So I'm getting help. And just the idea of seeking help makes me feel better. That being honest with myself. But I've talked to the psychotherapist and mentioned Ren ... and he smiled straight away. I know I'll be in good hands!!! THAT is what Ren is about.

It's always a blast to watch new channels stumble into Ren's rabbit hole. Great reaction on this one guys! Ren does a lot of one-take videos, but some of his highlights would be Money Game 1,2,&3, The Tales of Jenny and Screech (make sure you watch the complete trilogy video), or Chalk Outlines. Those are a bit serious or dark, but he has some amazing songs that are a bit lighter. One thing to keep in mind is that his stuff also appears on a few different channels here on YT, depending on when he released it. He used to be in a band called The Big Push, so many of his tracks are on their channel, or posted under than name. Enjoy the journey and rock on!

Ren uses dissonance a fair bit. His songs often have a dichotomy to them. He may use, dark lyrics coupled with a catchy tune, or ruuuuuuude lyrics to a radio friendly tune, or highly emotive lyrics to music which could double as a film score etc... It is like he is taking you to places you are not sure you want to go on the one hand, but keeping you safe by holding your other hand. I liken Ren to the Pied Piper, but Ren has a guitar, not a flute and is from Brighton, not Hamlin. We follow him through rain, sun, sadness, cheekiness, anger, and misery, along main roads or hidden paths in the deep dive into his rabbit hole of a catalogue of over 100 songs. *The Tale of Jenny and Screech and Violet's Tale* (13 minute video) will give you 3 examples of _one takes_ No classical guitar training. Learned electric from watching Hendrix and Frusciante (among others) slowed down on yt. Ren is a once in a lifetime artist who is re-writing what music means to us mere mortals.

Gonna be pendantic here but this is not “bi-polar” thinking. This is the human condition since the dawn of time. We all have to grapple with it and for some it’s much harder than for others. The hope seems elusive. Hi Ren is a reminder to us that when we are in the dark, we can trust that the light will return so don’t give up. ❤ Great discussion 🥰 *Ren had psychosis which is a whole other thing.

I get what you're saying and you're right, however this is their interpretation of it after their first listen and it is a song that relates to so many people based on their personal circumstances and feelings. That's why this song has gained so much attention
@Oddittyvw12 күн бұрын
For clarification: Bi-polar, or manic depression, is a form of psychosis. Of course it depends on what you have been reading. If you put the current psychiatric manuals to one side (written to align with the pharmaceutical industry and insurance companies, not patients) and follow the history of these terms, back to the time when a psychiatrist listened to his patient and was attentive to every detail ; like we are doing with this song, then you will see that though everyone has a little voice in their head, a conscience reminding them of their shortcomings, it is not the same as an auditory hallucination. Let’s not greenwash mental illness. Psychosis is a real thing, with serious consequences, and we can learn a lot about this most human of afflictions from Ren if we listen carefully. Ironically, he is quite lucid on the question, unlike most shrinks!

I know everyone deals with mental health issues, but as someone who deals with autoimmune disease this piece hits me hard. It's the battle inside my head and it's the battle within my own body. One moment I legit just wish I could end it all and the next I realize I want to want to live. Too bad my own immune system the very thing that's supposed to protect me is trying to kill me. Either way I'm suicidal it's just some of the time it's by choice and the rest it's my body taking the choice from me. It's never ending and completely exhausting. So yeah this piece is so relatable and it's important to remember it's a pendulum and you're just human.

6:47 one take! Four takes done for video, one take on the live audio, subbing for mor Ren. Recommend The Big Push - War Pigs (busking cover) and Ren -All My Life (Foo Fighters retake but super short)

You guys need to seriously check out Money Game parts 1, 2 and 3 to see how far Ren's talent can go.

Fire is 🔥. Older undervalued track but I think you'd really enjoy the vibe.

The music/singing was a one-take. The video was constructed from 4 play-thoughs. They were allowed 30 minutes to complete it in the basement and that was all they could do. Was it enough? Watch 'Sick boi' next if you want something equally phenomenal.

Wait until you see him busking on the streets of Brighton.

Not a one take, for real real. The video is a composite of multiple takes.

My favorite band of all-time is Metallica. For close to 40 years I have never seen anyone this talented on everything he doesn't miss. It's insane. This young man is a Unicorn. I found hi ren by accident. I was watching Metallica reaction videos and one of the reactors clicked on this video. I tried to dislike it because he wasn't Metallica. It didn't work

Subbed for your journey down the Ren rabbit hole. "Crutch" with Bibi is an older one of Ren's but worth a view.

You will come across a Ren song in which you'll say, "I'm not crying." Eveyone has that one song that hits them hard. Goosebumps are another side effect of Ren's music. The man is on another level. He's also very humble.

Loved your reaction. I described Ren only today as my therapist. Subbed for more Ren. I agree with the other Renegades, Jenny and Screech trilogy, sick boi and his old band the big push war pigs

VALID. I want to hear this. REAL. Unsettling; but fascinating. Not OFF notes; but NEW notes; they fit the way he plays them like human expression in a voice. distortion is a technique. You, your angel, and you demon, are room mates for life. We have to work together. one cannot destroy the other; but they are always somewhat at ODDS. You're the referee, in a way. NEITHER IS NECESSARILY WRONG. Or RIGHT. And you have to put the work in. If you accept that "trilogy" as being valid; you stop blaming yourself for the dissidence. We all feel it to a certain extent. Love and hate are opposite sides of the same coin; the point is RESPECT.

Tales trilogy next but Crutch, Dominoes and Dear God should be on your list. Also make time for his band The Big Push and their busking gigs as well as him and Sam Tompkins, him and Chinchilla and him and Chris Webby. Actually, there's no bad song.

It was a one take song. They got caught by a security guard in somewhere he shouldn't of been. He gave them an hour to get it done and leave. His name is Ren Erin Gill. He was born in Wales.

It is a composite of four takes plus additional hand held footage, plus it was the landlord not security and he gave them 30 minutes.
