Brilliant modifications. These saws are awesome I owned one 30 years ago and used it everyday for 10 years. It ran all day long you could fry an egg on the motor it got so hot. A few months ago I bumped into the guy I sold it to he told me apart from a new switch it is still going strong. Not bad for a £200 machine.

I've got one of those generic bandsaws. The vice-plates measured at 87 and 89 degrees (rather than 90), so they went on the mill for correction. The arm-pivot was also bored and re-shafted to correct it's movement. A jacking bolt with locknut was fitted to the moving jaw to enable clamping short-stock. With re-engineering, these are a cheap alternative to elbow-wrecking manual effort.

Excellent! I bought my EMCO way back in 1984 from their store in Massachusetts just before they closed it. It was fully assembled and aligned already and only cost me $75.00. I have never done anything to it other than replace blades and the roller bearings and lose the table for upright use. It still has the original belt! I've never had even come close to tipping over but, I do agree that the platform is a bit on the shaky side. There are a lot of videos on making upgrades but, I like your modification to the vise best. I'm definitely going to borrow your idea. I may still make up a new support table for it since it does appear to be a worthwhile adventure. Especially with the introduction of a coolant system. Thanks for the video.

Really a good design. Nice video showing it. Time 08.30. The bolt balancing the moving jaw is great. I prepared for 3, one low, one in the middle and one high. Not long ago I made the same arrangement but without screwing the new parts to the bandsaw jaws. It has made a great job already. It will be thrilling to see what additional fixtures You might come up with. Also bought Randys knocker, scriber and dove tail cutters. Great tools. Time 13:25. On the modell I've got there's an adjustable blade guard the interferes with the table and needs special adjustment for horisontal cutting. The preferred adjusting is unfavourable for the table at horisontal cutting. Great portable table. I still use the crappy metal legs....

Great ideas and suggestions! Rather than making new jaws for the vise, how about replacing the vise with 2"x2"x1/4" angles. You can drill and tap the angle for fixtures as you did with jaws but you won't reduce the capacity of the saw by the width of the jaws.

I’m in the process of making some of your upgrades. I recently picked up a similar bandsaw in terrible shape for $50. I replaced all the bearings, and spent two days trying to figure out how to get it to run without losing the blade. Finally got it aligned and it works pretty good. You are right about the legs that come with the saw being useless. I need to study your stand to try to figure out the dimensions and learn to weld. Are plans available? I look forward to seeing more mods for this saw. First thing I did after buying it was to look for other KZbinrs ideas for modifying it.

Nice. I would put a spacer under the saw between it and the pan allowing a baking sheet to be inserted which catches the cutting fluid for reuse and makes dumping the swarf very easy. I made a fixture to allow the sheet to be lowest at the corner closest to me in which the cutting fluid builds up. I use a HF paint brush to dip the fluid and put it back on the blade and cut. That allows me to keep copious fluid on the cut yet using very little actual fluid. Just keep recirculating. I also used all thread with a head on the jaw bolt so I use the same bolt in all situations. Good video once you got to the subject. I could do without the intro antics. Just saying.

I bought one of these saws about 20 years ago. It has the Delta name on it. I don't think they've made any improvements in 20 years. About 10 years ago I finally made a similar table and tapped the vice for a bolt. Still on the terrible stand but I rarely move it. The belt guard is falling apart, added that to the list. Seriously considering a hydraulic down feed and a slobber coolant system. Maybe next year!

I think everyone has one of these 4x6 band saw including me now i need to do the upgrade. As far as the mess i find when using cutting fluid it makes the chips stick to everything and made my guide bearings sound really chunky so ijust slow speed down and run dry i use the bi metal blades rather than the carbon steel ones. Now I picked up a used 7x11 which was run with flood cooling it had a new blade but unfortunately all the guide bearings were toast plus what a mess to clean up the old coolant residue did i tell you how much I hate flood cooling lol. Needless to say I ditched the pump and reservoir however it had a nice tap and flex tubes with nozzle the tap happened to be the same size as my air fittings so now i just attach air hose to it and give just enough air volume to clear the chips and with the nozzle lined up with center of blade i find this also cools the blade been using it like this for about 6 months now and I have cut off a bunch of 3x4 inch tractor hitches and 4 in drill stem pipe blade holding out good now I'm going to do the same thing with the little 4x6 bandsaw after i make those plates for both of them. My tufado list keeps getting longer and longer every day with my own ideas then I get more ideas from people like you that come up with great ideas problem is too many ideas not enough time lol i think my brain is going through a overload don't know where to start first 🤦♂️🤦♂️🧠🧠🤯🤯⚠️⚠️⚠️‼👍👍🥃🥃🔥

I'm interested how well the jaw setup works for you. I was taught that the distance of the blade from the jaw is intentional, providing room for the blade to stray. As you likely already know, it doesn't take much of an "oops" to cause the blade to stray. My thought is that if your blade should stray into your vice, you may break or cause more damage than you want. Please keep us posted. P.S. Found you on Rumble a few nights ago. I hope that platform works for you.
