I grew in the ghetto my dad was a ex-gang member who beat and rapped me. I grew up loving heavy metal and could never get into rap. I grew up and I married my husband of five years who is white (I'm Mexican and black) but him and his brother got me into not only rap music but political rap like immortal technique and after hearing this song I wanted, oh so wanted to hate him. BUT!!! I Used to tutor at risk youths who family were former or active gang members and I thought of the message he was trying to make. While many would see it vulger I'd rather this song be on MTV than any fake rapper talking about money and sex. I feel if Immortal Technique was on MTV or VH1 and one of my kids saw it, would learn not only for him but also think twice before thinking one these low hangin pants wanna be thugs was cool. I used to also tutor some of the gang members that I went to school with and told them that if you really wanna be "gangster" graduate, be an example for you brothers and sisters, since most had no father. I told them that they knew how it ends in the "Life" and they're younger siblings don't deserve to see their brother in that fate. As a metal head too thank you for reacting to this video.
