Oh my gosh!!!. Here I go!!. This looks like so much fun, have been doing wire wrapping for a long time and my hands feel it!!. 🤪. What a wonderful Segway, I have seen this metal clay before but I guess my fingers didn’t hurt enough. Thank you Fire Mountain for this tutorial. 🙏🏼

She did a great job at explaining everything. I like that there are so many tools, molds and things to help in the jewelry making process. So far I have only made beaded bracelets. But I would really like to learn how to work with metal clay and make rings, bracelets, pendants, etc. I was waiting to see if she was going to say that she had made all the jewelry that was on display near her. From the looks of it there is also a DVD that can be purchased. When I realized that I wanted to learn how to work with metal clay I was really intimidated by the process. I don't know anyone personally who does this or is interested in this. Every Google search mentions Fire Mountain Gems and beads. So I decided to re-watch this video. I'm looking forward to learning more.

@FireMountainGems I was actually going to buy small gold hearts to use to make a bracelet. So I'd use glass beads and gold hearts. I have seen some that weren't really gold but gold colored at Walmart. Then found actual gold heart shaped beads on Etsy. But the delivery time might vary because some sellers are in China. I didn't want the opening for the beads to be vertical that goes through the top on the heart. I wanted it to be horizontal. On your website you sell gold clay. Do you think a novice, inexperienced person like myself, can make what I'm looking for? Or do you recommend that I start off with another metal clay first? I realize this comment is lengthy. But I didn't know how to condense it and felt an explanation might help. Also I've heard that metal some metal clays shrink more so than others. And that it depends on the manufacturer. But I, so far, haven't seen where someone recommended one metal clay over another. But since you offer a whole kit I thought I'd leave a comment.

@@EmorettaRobinson We would recommend starting with something other than the gold clay if you have never worked with metal clay. We have other options like silver and bronze. We have a great started kit as well: www.firemountaingems.com/5075TL.html We have a range of videos on metal clay as well: www.youtube.com/@FireMountainGems/search?query=metal%20clay Please let us know if you have any other specific questions about metal clay. Can you use copper clay with copper enameling?
@FireMountainGems2 ай бұрын
Absolutely! You just need to follow the instructions on firing it fully first. Once copper clay is fired, all of the clay binder is burned away and what you have left is just beautiful copper metal that can be finished any way you would traditionally finish copper. You can hammer, solder, etc. The only difference between fired copper clay and regular copper is that it is slightly more porous, but it is very workable. Hope this helps!

I have a question do you think it helps to learn about ceramics before working with metal clay?
@FireMountainGems Жыл бұрын
Hi Evelyn. It might help but not necessary. We'd recommend starting with simple projects to get the feel of working with metal clay. There are so many tutorials here on our channel and on other channels that should help. You might also check and see if there are any metal clay workshops available in your area or surrounding area.

I actually have a 400 page book on metal clay. It also does not define "metal"
