Babymetal is just the three girls up front. The current members of the group featured in this video are Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) the lead vocalist, and backing vocalists and dancers Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Momometal (Momoko Okazaki). The original third member Yuimetal retired due to illness in 2018, and Momometal joined the group at this concert in 2023. Clear Night was a very special occasion because it was Momometal's first official performance as a full member of Babymetal after serving four years as a backup dancer for them. The musicians that play with them are called the Kami Band, they are elite professional session musicians chosen by Babymetal's producer Kobametal. There are a actually two Kami Bands, one made up of Japanese musicians, known as the Kami Band of the East, and one made up of American musicians, known as the Kami Band of the West. The Kami Band of the West played at this show, so the musicians were Chris Kelly (guitars), CJ Masciantonio (guitars), Clint Tustin (bass) and Anthony Barone (drums). The Kami band only play at the live shows, not on the studio recordings

I will try one more time with what I tried to say originally - I'll maybe cut it down a bit - but not much. Welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 BABYMETAL formed in 2010, there were 3 original members (they were only 12 and 11 years old at the time) and we have watched them grow up and become one of the very best live acts on the planet. BABYMETAL are the three young ladies - they are Su-metal (lead vocalist), Moametal and Momometal (in charge of backing vocals, harmonies and mainly hyping and involving the crowd with their choreo). The original third member Yuimetal last performed in October 2017 and was absent for 12 months for health reasons until she announced in October 2018 that she was still not fully recovered and would be leaving the band. Su and Moa continued as a duo for 4 or 5 years supported from 2019 by 3 dancers who would take turns dancing in the third spot until 1st April 2023 when one of those dancers, Momoko, was finally revealed as the new official third member. This video was filmed on the 2nd April - Momometal's very first concert since being revealed as the official third member. BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before, they brought a fusion of great metal instrumentals coupled with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics to create their very own sub-genre ... and they have continued to develop and evolve from those beginnings. They don't limit themselves to any one main style or genre and you won't be able to pigeonhole or put them in any one box like you can with virtually every other band in the world, they are one of a kind and they invented their own genre and style that nobody has been able to copy successfully (some have tried, none came close) including bringing choreographed dancing to metal (but not as you might know it from pop acts where it is nearly always used just to fill the stage or give you almost naked girls (and boys) to look at to take your mind off often bland music). BABYMETAL's choreo helps with interpreting the song - a lyric or the meaning etc, but it is designed to involve and lead the crowd, to give them their cues when to jump, shout, pump their fists, chant and so on. BABYMETAL are complete masters of crowd control and crowd involvement. They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians, each one of them a world class instrumentalist. They do swap in and out depending on their availability, but the same hard core of about 6 musicians played the vast majority of concerts since they became the full time support. They first appeared in October 2012 and became the full time support for all live shows from March 2014. We only know for sure that one Kami Band member has recorded guitar and bass for some songs in the studio recordings, other than him we don't know who records the songs. In 2019 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) were introduced and they have been supporting BABYMETAL on their more extended foreign tours since then. It was the Kami Band of the West you saw in this video - they are Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Clint Tustin on bass and Anthony Barone on drums. About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' was on the second album (Metal Resistance - released in 2016). It is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. They have said they made this more technical and faster than most of their own songs thinking they would never have to play it live ... and that they had to practice hard when they did perform it with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London later in 2015. BABYMETAL have nearly 70 songs now, every one of them is different from the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will mix in other musical styles and genres with the metal, often when you least expect it. Some songs lean towards their pop roots others are just good hard metal and they do everything in between - so if you don't like one song no problem - try another, the chances are you'll love it. The official videos are all very good and worth seeing, but BABYMETAL are a live performance act - that is where you will always see and hear them at their very best ... and they are all about the crowd. I'm sure you will get a lot of great suggestions for songs, pick anything, you can't go far wrong (but please do not react to 'Gimme Chocolate' until after you have heard a lot more songs to get a better idea what they are about - its a fun live song, but it can be very confusing if you're not used to BABYMETAL).

BABYMETAL are more of a performance group than a band. That being said, BABYMETAL are only the three girls. They use session musicians for live shows. Although they use session musicians, the fans know who they are and are named The Kami Band. Kami meaning gods or spirits. They incorporate both an Eastern band of Japanese musicians, and a Western band of American musicians. In this video it was the Western Kami Band. They are: Chris Kelly -guitars CJ Masciantonio - guitars Clint Tustin - bass Anthony Barone - drums. The backing band(s) are called Kami Band (top-notch studio musicians with their own deals) they only tour/play at Live performances and are not involved with recordings. Welcome & Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。I witnessed this show with tears on Day-2 at Pia Arena when Momometal was inducted as the official 3rd member. This Anthemic song, RoR, was played in each show in their world tour (including Pearl Concert Theater in Las Vegas). Two bands play in the girls' back. Western (American) Kami band is in this video. We appreciate their virtuosity to support BABYMETAL. Chris, CJ, Anthony and Clint (Ryan replaced in North American tour) are great! BABYMETAL is the best musical phenomenon I have ever experienced in my 68-year-long life. (Before BM, I was a stubborn jazz / funk lover) We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands, as you already know. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

just FYI. Babymetal opened the door for Japanese bands to the west. Babymetal has been around since 2010 but they started getting attention in like 2013. they are more a performance band. live is where they shine. their production level is top notch. the more you see them you can't help but appreciate the level of professionalism of the band. and they maybe not your cup of tea and that is fine. Nemophila is a huge Babymetal fan. they have done a cover of theirs, Megitsune. Baymetal was actually a project of a guy that wanted the Japanese metal scene to be more alive and then he combined J-pop with metal and as you see now the Japanese metal scene is off the charts. Lovebites is another band that maybe wouldn't be as popular outside of Japan unless someone opened the door for them. Babymetal actually created their own genre of kawaii metal, cute metal.

Babymetal is an offshoot of the idol training school/group called Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin, often shortened to SG, had several different themed clubs/groups with Babymetal being the heavy metal club. Babymetal was built around Su-Metal (Suzuka Nakamoto), the tallest and oldest of the three original girls. The other two originals are Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi), fellow graduates of SG who were chosen for Babymetal because of their similar height, appearance, and voices. Their look, at least during the early days, is called "Gothic Lolita." Babymetal has released studio four albums and a ton of live concerts. Yuimetal left the group in 2018 due to undisclosed health reasons and has seemingly fallen off the face of the planet. Other backups dancers filled in for Yui, the most prominent of which were a rotating trio called The Avengers. Two of the Avengers quietly drifted away from Babymetal and moved on to other projects, but the third, Momoko Okazaki, was made the third member of Babymetal in April 2023 and dubbed Momometal.

You can be a metal head all your life and belive you have seen and heard it all. And then 3 teenage girls [they are in their 20s now] from Japan with a name as strange as "BABYMETAL" [which totally makes sense after a while - there couldnt be a better name for them: newborn/cute metal] hit you off guard straight in the face. The brutal energy of metal, stripped from everything evil, combined with crystal clear pop vocals - and dance choreography. A positive vibe and new exciting mixes of genres thought impossible before in almost every song, all always presented with such an ease and talent that it is pure pleasure. Okay, I am a fan. I understand that BABYMETAL may not be everyones cup of tea, but it for sure is something unique and refreshing new [even after 13 years of international activity] - and BABYMETAL live really is something else. Not just in the big productions. They stand out in small venues and on festival stages as well. Cant wait to see [experience] them again. They are a live act. Their studio albums totally are worth listening to, but they are more like soundtracks, or business cards, how BABYMETAL calls them. You'll understand why :)

Let me give you a bit of background to this specific performance. Road of Resistances is basically considered by the girls of Babymetal as their Theme Song as it speaks of taking an unconventional road that no one else has ever taken. The song itself dates back to 2014 and is almost always included in Babymetal concerts for this reason. To understand the importance of this performance, we have to go to 2018, which was a tough year for Babymetal. One of the guitarist died in a tragic accident and one of the members left the group. They continued on as a duo with support dancers until 2023, this concert to be exact, when one of those support dancers was named a permanent third member, re-establishing the trio (aka the Holy Trinity). The girls where not sure how the fans would accept someone actually replacing the beloved member who left and this concert was the first concert after announcing the new member. So what you are seeing in real time is Su (singer) and the girls learning, in real time, that everything is going to be OK. When Su was speaking to the audience she was thanking them for that acceptance. The subsequent "Arigato" as the song started back up was a heart felt "Thank You".

An outstanding introduction to them for you guys actually ..the most up to date performance of one of their most epic songs, with Momoko, the newest member. My wife and I saw them in Houston AND Dallas last year (I was a very new fan) and while they can't bring all the fire and massive stage production, the tradeoff is, if you have the extra time and money, you can get VERY close to the stage. We were maybe 7 feet from them in Dallas and it was just surreal. The amount of personal crowd interaction they did was just awesome too. The whole experience up close is just wild. Seeing the full choreo up close, seeing their smiles and having them wave at you, etc, Su's voice live is out of this world .. they really are something special! Hope y'all enjoy more! Right off folks a delightful reaction. Nice thoughtful comments and I just loved your "stage". The moving future background with your tasteful outfits just worked so well for a Babymetal reaction. And let me say that for a first reaction you stumbled onto one of Babymetal's classics and a super performance at that. Babymetal is actually just the three ladies. They have to groups of tour bands known as Kami Band of the East (japanese musicians) and yes they are superb. But I had to chuckle because they also have the Kami Band of the West-seen here, who although this concert was in Japan-are all American musicians. Basically Babymetal only tours with the best and their live shows are legendary. The very beginnings of Babymetal go back to 2010 when the three then girls were 12, 10 and 10. Two of the original now ladies are rockin' the joint-Sumetal, lead singer, Moametal stage right and the newest member Momometal on the left. I mention this history just so if you happen to pick a video where it seems like young teenagers are performing you won't be too shocked. There were two nights at the PIA Arena 2023, Black Night and Clear Night. All the songs from both of those nights are on fire. Was a contestant on the Korean reality survival program "Girls Planet 999" (which thankfully for The ONE, she was eliminated from early on) and performed in a stage musical production of "Black Butler". Momoko was the only “Avenger” (see below) to perform in the “10 BABYMETAL Budokan” shows in 2021 and was officially named Momometal and made a permanent member in April 2023. She deserves the spot! Fun Fact: Momoko's father is a popular comedian in Japan known for making dead-pan jokes. Momoko worked very hard to make her way without using his name as a crutch. BLACK BABYMETAL: Yuimetal and Moametal performing as a duet while Su-metal takes a breather. Also known as “MoiMoi”. There are 4 BBM songs (GJ!, Onedari Daiskusen, 4 No Uta\Song 4, and Sis. Anger) some of which Moametal performed solo a few times after Yui's departure. Now that Momometal is a member, we are hoping for more BBM songs with MoMoa! But only the Fox God knows. AVENGERS: 3 Dancers who took turns performing the choreography in Yuimetal’s spot after her departure. They were not official members did not have microphones and were not even named. It was the fans who quickly figured out who they were and you will see them in live performances between 2018 and 2021. They were: Momoko Okazaki (see above). Riho Sayashi: Suzuka’s former rival at Actors School Hiroshima, often competing for the same roles. Former “Ultimate Ace” of the JPop Idol group Morning Musume. Now a solo artist. Kano Fujihara: Former Member of Sakura Gakuin, the school-aged Idol group that BABYMETAL was born out of. Like Suzuka and Moa before her, Kano was Student Council President her last year in Sakura Gakuin and like Yui, was considered arguably the best dancer in SG during her time there. She is now a member of the Idol group @onefive, which is comprised of 4 Sakura Gakuin graduates (Kano, Momo, Soyo and Gumi). Babymetal started this new wave of interest in the west into Japanese band. In part because they aren't a regular metal band, but they are both very interesting/entertaining/great live and because not being a regular band is controversial so it sparked a lot of discussion.

Keep enjoying BM songs and don't forget to enjoy this song with another version which is usually for first time suggestion such the live in Japan official MV (2015) with the original trio and with the actual Japanese musicians unlike this version with westerners musicians, it also it's harder and looks more epic bc it was used as an ender. Also none of the live band member (which is called the Kami Band) are part of the album tracks credits, except for one member who played on certain songs here and there, the whole project was build around the lead singer SuMetal and the girls, MoaMetal and YuiMetal (currently a former member since 2018), the one you saw in this version from 2023 is a new member with the stage name of MomoMetal. Their music is rooted in metal and fused with J-Pop and many other influences. At their core, they are 100% a live performance act. They have 9+ years of world tours, ~70 songs, and 4 albums under their belts. *About the song:* This song debuted in a 2014 performance in London and is from their 2nd Album. It is an epic anthem about finding the courage to travel the challenging unpaved path towards your goals and dreams. This is a great introduction to Babymetal, and the guitar parts are co-written by Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce. *Babymetal members:* The lead vocalist is Su-metal, with backup vocals and dance from Moametal. Now, to answer your question without deep diving too much. The band members aren’t fixed, but rather alternate depending on their availability and tour dates from their own projects. Takayoshi Ohmura, who also plays in Marty's Friedman's Japanese band. In addition to Leda, BOH, Hideki Aoyama, and Isao Fujita. Which were among the most active and popular members at the time. ______________________________________________ Although, as of the last 5 years or so. They have been busy with other projects. Kami West, which is separated from the ones mentioned above & present in this reaction. Have basically become the main band now. It's a weird deal, but part of this may have also been due to Mikio Fujioka's death. Which you will see in the Rondo of Nightmare performance. Due to a tragic balcony accident which was a difficult time for the band as they also lost Yui shortly after. Due to heath issues, but now is believed was from Yui's compressed disk injury. _________________________________________________ It wasn't all that certain they would continue, but later decide that is what Mikio would have wanted. So for 3rd album, Metal Galaxy, they soldiered on with only two members. Metal Galaxy ended up topping Billboard's Rock Album charts. The first Japanese Metal Band to do so. I will be seeing them in Vegas this April at the Sick New World Festival. There is a good possibility they will get to perform Kingslayer with Bring Me The Horizon for the first time in us. Babymetal invited Bring Me The Horizon to open for their Japanese tour several years ago. Which they had signaled a desire to do a collaboration with them. Which eventually came to be known as the Kingslayer Project. 3 years in the making here. It finally happened at BMTH Nex_Fest in Japan this past November. _______________________________________________ Bring Me The Horizon has an official video of it on their page, which i highly recommend. Like Road To Resistance, which was a collaboration with DragonForce actually. They have done other collaborations over the years as well. From Distortion feat Arch Enemy's Alissa White-Gluz. Great reaction, and good choice for the video and song. The song is off their second album released back in 2016, and is a staple for their concerts. BM's music varies a lot from song to song. I would recommend the live performances of Megitsune and Monochrome from the same PIA Arena concerts, which are their latest and best concerts to date. BABYMETAL is just the three girls, the backing band is the Kami band which plays for their live performances, and are session musicians. The band playing at this concert have been with BM since 2019. We recognize who they are from their instruments, and they don't exactly hide when they are there to play as they post on social media. There is no crediting who plays on the albums, so it's largely speculative.

Good reaction. Welcome to the crazy universe of BabyMetal. BabyMetal is an atypical heavy metal group, because they are idols. In Japan, idols are often paired with pop music (Jpop), and Babymetal was actually a subgroup of a larger idol group called Sakura Gakuin. Sakura was made up of girls between 10 and 15 years old dedicated to Jpop. When SuMetal (the singer) started she was 12 years old and MoaMetal/YuiMetal (the backup singers) were only 10 years old. Sakura represented the Japanese high school and the girls were distributed in clubs (traditional Japanese extracurricular activities such as cooking, swimming, basketball, sewing, etc.). One of the producers, a lover of heavy metal, saw that Su's singing could perfectly be used in metal and asked permission from the Mother House (Amuse) to create the heavy music club, proposing an experiment in fusion between metal and the pop. Nobody, as they themselves have confessed, had much hope for its outcome, but they gave it the green light and thus BabyMetal, Sakura Gakuin's heavy music club, was born. The first songs were intended for girls between 10 and 15 years old, who were Sakura's target audience. However, their quality and the fusion between pop and metal attracted attention beyond this audience and they began to frequent their metal concerts... a shocking audience of children and metalheads. And it worked, it worked so well that they began to support groups like Metallica, Red Hot, BMTH or Lady Gaga, I seem to remember, on their tours in Japan. And the Red Hot singer commented that he was impressed to realize that part of the public came to see them, not them. And so the base of BabyMetal fans grew. Sakura was a group in which, upon turning 15, the members had to leave (to pursue their careers elsewhere) and the producer (KobaMetal) requested permission again to create BabyMetal as an independent group. Success was already beginning to become a reality in Asia, so they authorized it, although Moa and Yui (they were still 13 years old) would also continue to be part of other Sakura clubs (I don't know when the poor girls studied, but they did). In 2014 a milestone would arrive in the group's history. They were already an established metal group in Asia that sold out concerts, but they had not yet made the leap to the West. In that year his song "Gimme Chocolate" rose to fame on KZbin (currently 182M views) and attracted the attention of the producers of the Sonisphere festival. Others have answered but why not me too. Babymetal is just the three women. They have two bands for touring - East Kami Band (all top Japanese musicians) and West Kami Band (top American musicians). The lineup for both bands is pretty constant, the musicians rarely change (but do occasionally as all the musicians have side projects). The touring bands don't necessarily record the albums, the musicians on the albums are not credited. This song has fairly simple choreo but watch more closely and you will see that the hand movements, head movements, etc are all choreographed. In addition all the songs have their own choreo. The guitars were a Schecter and a Music Man I believe. The band members are usually recognized by their instruments plus the fandom just knows. The fandom is called The One. The song is 8 years old. The have heavy songs and poppy songs and even some ballad type songs.

BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group (a metal subgenre that they created) that formed in 2010 when the 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes, they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Also, they released a new amazing album and they just finished a world tour where they had many shows here in the US. There have been members of the Kami band that switch in and out. One former member of the Kami band sadly passed in 2018 and the songs Starlight, shine and arcadia are a trilogy of songs covering loss of a loved one. Starlight is considered by fans as a tribute to Mikio although Moa was seen to play an old acoustic guitar of his for Shine on one occasion. The trilogy is also considered by fans to be for the loss of Yui as she had to resign due to an unspecified illness.

Highly recommend the earlier 'Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)' version (Jan 10 2015, aka 'Legend 2015 New Year Fox Festival' concert) of this song from nine years ago, which doesn't have English subtitles but featured the revered original Kami band. That performance was not only astounding for its showmanship (the girls were then in their mid-teens & coming off their first world tour), but also crowd participation (leaving many jaded Western metalheads emotional in the reaction videos) despite the song being merely available as a bonus download at that time. The Japanese fans had learned how to respond live only after watching fancams of the song debut at the tour-ending London gig two months prior. Next song recommendation is definitely 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr' (2012), another early song whose live versions have commemorated many BM milestones over the years. Only the newer ones have official English subs, but the song is basically about a 15-year-old reveling in her first metal concert but also realizing she's leaving her childhood. The top two special takes available on KZbin are Su's ("Legend 1997" show on Dec 21 2013) & Moa's ("Legend M" show on Jun 6 2019) when they celebrated their 16th & 20th birthdays respectively, the latter with lyrics changed to "the special night of my twentieth" to mark her own coming of age. BM's upcoming Japan shows next month are already billed as "Legend MM", so Momo is expected to sing co-lead the song as well to celebrate her 21st birthday. On a sadder note, Momo's beloved predecessor Yui fell steeply off the stage in mid-song ("Red Night Legend" show at Budokan on Jan 1 2014) which might have contributed to a back injury that ultimately caused her to miss gigs since late 2017 & leave the group about a year later. She's completely disappeared in public since then, with only a credible (but blurred) photo of an older her on a Japanese eatery's celebrity wall inadvertently shown during a food show. Won't single out any other BM song (everyone have their favorites), so explore the many fans' passionate 'song tier lists', have fun ranking your own, & argue about your own preferences on the Internet haha. But for a harder, uncompromising metal sensibility (or if you think Moa/Yui are merely side dancers), check out Black Babymetal in which the latter duo sing & perform onstage without Su. The PIA Arena concerts from last year have put out a few great videos to watch. My rec for next would be Megitsune from that same concert. Both songs are actually early songs, but this is the modern group doing them. I’m in Japan right now on an extended concert vacation. We saw Nemophila at Budokan, BAND-MAID at Zepp Yokohama, and will be seeing Babymetal at Yokohama Arena on two days in March. Can’t wait! Normally I’m not a fan of circle pits, but I trust The One to protect me. Plus I’m bigger than nearly everyone around me. Babymetal is and always has been the three girls. The backing band is The Kami Band, and the lineup of the Kamis has changed a lot. I’m not sure if it’s known who the studio musicians are, though I’ve never looked into that.

Except the earlier rotation of the 3 guitarist or when a member was sick or had other commitments .. Along with the loss of Mikio.. As for the West.. Just the bass player changed during the recent overseas. Since then , Clint has returned (now using a 6 string bass) .. You can tell who they are just by their instruments.

That's just in a little over a decade. While I'm fully aware the lineup more or less stabilized around 2014, that's still a lot of hired guns coming and going and making one-time appearances.

BABYMETAL 101 Babymetal is a Japanese group founded in 2010 and produced by Kei “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal). The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (26 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance. The black outfit and masks currently used helps place them more in the background as the group is Babymetal not the Kami Band. Past Formations. Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012) From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consists of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka "Yuimetal" pronounced Yui-Metal. (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is a group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature, which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them. Music Video of this Era Doki Doki Morning (Debut Song) Iine (Pronounced EE-N A spelled i i n e) Headbangya Babymetal/ Metal Resistance Era (2012-2017) Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers, some time travel, running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all-power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show “I” was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own. Babymetal as it is with Su-Metal, Moametal, Yuimetal, the Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of its existence. Also established beyond the 3-member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui. Music Videos of this Era Gimmie Chocolate Megitsune Rondo of Nightmare - With mischief of the Gods Intro (Su Solo and a great expedition of the Kami Band) Road of Resistance Live in Japan (Co-written by Dragonforce) Iijime, Dame, Zettai Live at Sonisphere (Name means No More Bullying Forever) Karate The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era (2018) In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost, leaving behind his wife and only child. In September 2018 Yui formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refused or were too stupid to understand and formed the cancerous Yui-Cultists that would plague the fandom until Momometals debut. There are some holdouts, but thankfully they have become very rare.) In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history. Music Videos of this Era (These MVs do not feature the members in them at all) Distortion Starlight (Don’t let overzealous fans fool you, this is OFFICIALLY not a tribute to anyone. A lot of fan speculation, end of story if they claim it is they are 100% lying to you.) Metal Galaxy Era (2019- Feb 2020) First introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH. Music Videos of this Era Pa Pa Ya Elevator Girl Shanti Shanti Da Da Dance (Avenger confusion) Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihira, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before. Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert in 2020 was well worth it.

COVID Era (Mar 2020 to April 2021) COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans at the time was what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has moved on to other projects, including starting a fan club. Kano Fujihara graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4-month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaft Momoko Okazaki who is a graduate of Sakura Gakuin in March 2018 would be the last standing Avenger until she would become the new member of Babymetal. Music Videos of this Era BxMxC (First music video that isn’t footage from a show and featuring Su and Moa since Karate in 2015) Post 10-year Anniversary/ Covid Era Part 2 (May 2021-September 2022) The band stepped back from live shows due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and focusing on the sale of Merch. There were a few months of a pure break with Su, and Moa taking some time thinking about their future as they stated in an interview. This was a short few months (Their words) they went quickly back to work in less than a year logistically speaking as they spent time working on a new concept album the choreography and planning the massive world tour in 2023. The word hiatus is used a lot, and some idiots thought BM might never comeback or believe this was a true hiatus. Ignore their drama they just want attention, it was nothing like a true hiatus, people who claim it was are liars. They took a short break the girls took a few months to reflect but were back making their 4th album working on the choreograph and setting up their largest world tour in the groups history. You have to be an idiot to think they set all of that up in like 2 months. Momoko had a very very short stint in a Korean Idol Competition Show called Planet 99. She performed perfectly, better than most of the other girls in the show. She even got the most votes in a small side competition destroying all the other 98 girls in the show in votes. This won her some hair dye (She was blonde for a bit). Ultimately be it dumb BM fans thinking the side competition was the actual competition, how the judging was heavily skewed to Korean voters, the fact that her fate was tied to 2 other girls one Korean and one Chinese, and or possibly ridged voting something the company producing the show has done in the past, Momoko was eliminated in the very first round. The Other One (October 2022-April 2023) They had released 5 songs on KZbin, and they performed a show in January 2023 where they performed these new songs leading up to the released of their Album in March with 10 new songs. During January and February shows Su and Moa were supported by Momoko. On April First (Fox Day) Their new show played many new and old songs as well as officially made Momoko Okazaki aka Momometal the official 3rd member. Bringing Babymetal back to a 3-member unit once again. This all kicked off their world tour in touring with Sabaton in Europe then Asia and Australia, and tours in US in the fall and a solo tour in Europe in winter, with a tour finally in Japan in 2024. All of this is proof there was no true hiatus, just sensational fans who want to make things more dramatic than they truly were. Music Videos of this Era Divine Attack Metal Kingdom Monochrome Monochrome Piano Ver. (From The First Take) Light and Darkness Mirror Mirror Metalizm The New Era of Babymetal (April 2023-Current) After doing what Su-Metal described in Interviews as the Training Beginning, Su, Moa, and Momo toured Europe with Sabaton, then had solo tours in Asia and Australia, before returning to Japan and having a few solo shows along with hitting the Summer Sonic and other Festivals in Japan before their major tour in the United States with DETHKLOK in September. They spent some time in October to do a festival in Japan and perform with Bring Me the Horizon in their song Kingslayer live for the first time. They completed their EU Tour and are taking a break as they prepare for 2024 with shows in Okinawa and Legend MM a 2 day Birthday Bash for Momoko’s 20/21 birthday (They missed her 20th). So all Of BM’s promotion and publicity is the three women. But fans know better. Their bands are top level. In the early years the live band known as the Kami band consisted of somewhat anonymous Japanese session musicians. For the first 10 years they had a core of musicians that stuck with them. As they toured more internationally, they hired Americans for a western Kami band. Their recordings use session musicians that are different from the touring bands. But fans know better - some Kami band members like the eastern drummer, Hideki Aoyama, and bassist, BOH, have become legendary parts of original BM. Babymetal are the three girls. The band is named Kami ( gods) band. There are two, east and west kami band, depending on the tour. For me babymetal has the best connection to the crowed have ever felt. This song was written by Dreagonforce. The third girl, Momoko is new since last year, instead of Yui. Listen to Monochrome, same concert. You will feel the connection between them and their fans.

In reality it is inly the three Girls, the Western Kami Band is mainly their performance Band on Stand by , while their original Band, the Kami Band normally has to much to do to really come when they are needed. They had a World Wide Zpur last year. While this year is again a Festival Year, where they are booked as show runners. They finally reformed last year to be again 3 Girls. Since 2017 they only had additional dancers, although Momoko was in fact their default dancer in the last few years. And Road of Resistance is their default closing song. Directly in front of RoR they play headbsnger and in front of this Megitsume, which also established their Devil avoidance gesture to japanese Symbol of female Empowerment. And they paved the Road for the huge number of female Metal Bands in Japan. Original they were only a small Idol group zhat was more or less afraid of Metal, but their Manager wanted to reform with them the stale japanese Metal Scene but since 2014 they established themselves as the international most successful japanese Band.

Well, since you went for broke on your first attempt, I'd recommend "Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of the Gods intro". It's an older song, from their first album, and it's a solo song for Su. "Rondo of Nightmare" is the name of the song, but this version has the whole band playing solos as the intro. I said that you went for broke because normally, reactors go to "Gimme Chocolate" for their 1st BM experience, which is ... a peculiar song. Not bad at all, but it's kinda an acquired taste. After that, they usually move to Road of Resistance, but the "Live in Japan" version of it, which has the girls at an yonger age. Aside that version of "Rondo of Nightmare" I'd suggest "Kagerou" too, or "Brand New Day", which are some underrated songs from them. Well, aside from the infamous collab with that Little Uzi Vert guy, you can't go wrong with any Babymetal song you pick. 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
