@therealdeadpen9 жыл бұрын
+Cull Silver Where I live you have to have a permit to dig on your own land. You only "own" the top part and anyone can by the rights to anything under you if you don't buy them first. Can not bury anything (animal, human, or time capsule) on your land without a permit. As far as I know you can plant trees and bushes without a permit so that's something I guess or I've broke the law. You have to register with the courthouse if you want to build a shed, any kind of shed, if you want a mower shed or wood shed you better get the permit Built a tin shed from lowes on my old property some time back and a tax adjuster come by, shed was a 6x4 and about 5 foot tall in the middle and sloped down to 4.5 foot on the side. costed something like $300 I think. That shed added $10,000 value to my property and raised the amount of taxes I had to pay at the end of the year. But you don't have to register your fire arms. If you are late on child support the order of permits taken from you are as followed, first you loose your driver's license, if you get further behind you loose your fishing license, and if you still don't pay you loose your hunting license.

We need a permit to dig it but the people tossing cans, pull tabs, and assortment of other trash don't have to have a permit. Maybe instead of checking our permit the ranger should be stamping out time card for cleaning up the parks. I contacted to the state parks and attached pictures of all the cigarette butts, fishing line, empty beer bottles and other trash I pulled from the park before getting kicked out for detecting. In my email I mentioned the school shootings and said the first response people have after a shooting is; kids don't play outside...they stay indoors and play violent video games and whatever. I suggested the state parks should have an open house and invite detectorist clubs and vendors to the open house. The vendors could give out door prizes and the clubs could introduce the people to metal detecting; show them how to properly dig and fill their holes. After the training the attendees could receive a diploma stating they were properly trained. Take the diploma and a nominal fee $5 or $10 to the parks and get a 1-year permit/license to dig in the state parks. The fee would be no different than a boat registration or fishing/hunting license. Print designated detecting areas on the map like they do hiking, biking, and camping areas. So there would be a revenue source for the state parks, people would have a hobby to get out and enjoy the state parks, and we could clean the parks while detecting. All I see are win, win, win. I received an emailed response. "Thank you for reaching out to us. I have sent this on to administration for their consideration, please await a response. " Dated September 3, 2019. Some people may be turned off by the fee but I'm throwing the government a carat.

I had to get it from the office so that means we the people paid for the persons 10 minutes of time, printer ink, paper, electricity and the Ranger to enforce the free permit. So the Ranger probably makes $20 and hour. The clerk maybe $15. Plus the truck the Ranger was driving. This may have cost tax payers $10 to $15? How many time a year does this happen?

Great video, Ken :) Man, you always seem to have the most interesting hunts...you bring trouble where ever you go, lol. It's funny, the few times I've been approached by a cop or some other higher up when detecting, I too seem to always get the same line; "Find anything?" before they start rambling on about the rules and other nonsense.. It must be like a stock line that they teach in security guard school or something. He was a nice enough fella though. And what was with the pirate? He was even using a Tesoro, too! Keep up the good work, sir.

+Treasure Hunting Tips LOL. You know how it goes. Old man metal detecting ='s trouble! LOL. Maybe that's all they have to do is check detector permits? All I know is every time I hunt a beach I'm checked! The other guy did have a nice Tesoro. But after a few minutes switched to an Ace 250. I think he stayed around 45 minutes.

Every time I detect nosy people come out of the woodwork. People are afraid you might get something they didn't find.

Being responsible and respectful to authority helps keep our hobby vital; well done mowerdog! BTW, never metal detect in a national park; those rangers will ruin your life!
@mowerdog9 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty easy going with people. I learned a long time ago if I see the word "National" or 'Historic" to keep out. That hasn't stopped me from asking for a special use detecting permit which I have been denied on all attempts. LOL.
@icdigger68949 жыл бұрын
It would be helpful to the integrity of our hobby to have a strong national organization, like the NRA, to reduce the stigma and encourage acceptance of metal detecting. No one likes to feel persecuted while hunting!
@mowerdog9 жыл бұрын
ICdigger Also it doesn't help with the detecting shows making us look like idiots jumping in water, climbing trees and crawling through Dog houses.
@icdigger68949 жыл бұрын
Amen to that, brother! Keeping it real is more than entertaining for me!
@mowerdog9 жыл бұрын
ICdigger I guess keeping it real doesn't sell soap? But act like idiots and get free detectors and access to historic sites we will never hunt. Plus a salary on top of that!

At least you got a ring. Congrats.
@mowerdog9 жыл бұрын
A ring is a ring. But a GOLD ring is way better! My last GOLD ring was last September. But it was a nice 14K with rocks! It was found on a fresh water beach. So I'm always hoping............

I had one Ranger bragging about making a little kid remove the rocks in his pocket he had picked up. This was at the State Park on Table Rock Lake. He kicked me off the sand volleyball court as well. Even though I showed him the trash I picked up.

That ranger is cool. You should also let him know that you pick of the trash while you do your hobby and he will be extra cool about it. It how you handle it. Does not cost much to put your hand out and say your name. Get them on your side and it makes all the difference. Tell you a story. I used to do Astronomy and my telescope was 5 feet in length. I had to carry it on my shoulder. Unknown to us the local police got a call about someone walking along a country road with a rocket launcher 😃. After we set up I could hear someone in the bushes. Only for the cops to jump out and say freeze. Only when they saw the telescope they chilled out and we took them a tour of the universe with the scope. Each weekend after that the would drop by for a chat and see what’s in the sky that night. Better to have them work with you.

We live in a civilised social world where everything is ordered and supervised. Lots of jobs are created in maintaining and organising and safety issues are also covered. The total amounts of taxes we pay for everything goes towards keeping our society as safe as possible. I don’t mind paying for permits to do stuff.
