G’day Glenn n Ant. Glen your knowledge is gold in itself mate. I find that more interesting than the gold finds. Guys, I was (but still am) running a QED built by Howard Rocky from Cardigan Village (Ballarat). Nice light PI. They don’t punch quite as deep as the GPX5000 but their lightness and lack of being tethered by cords is gold in itself. Now with that said, I have recently bought a GPX5000 at a bargain for $2,800 with 3 coils as I’ll be getting it modified by Mick at Detectronics. He has built such a name for himself there is a 5 month wait on performing his mods. 5000’s are coming out from the states to be modified. His modded 5000 outperforms the 7000 in depth and has increased sensitivity to smaller gold. He has a vid comparing. I booked mine in before I even bought one. It’s not unheard of people with 6000’s and 7000’s are selling theirs, buying a 5000 and getting it modded. $2,800 purchase price plus $2k to mod and I’m in it for $4,800! Cheers big ears. Al.

Fun fact… china outlawed opium in 1813 but the British East India Company hired private British and American traders to transport the drug to China. Chinese smugglers bought the opium from British and American ships and distributed it within China through a network of Chinese middlemen. By 1830, there were more than 100 Chinese smugglers’ boats working the opium trade. This reached a crisis point when, in 1834, the British East India Company lost its monopoly over British opium. To compete for customers, dealers lowered their selling price, which made it easier for more people in China to buy opium, thus spreading further use and addition. In less than 30 years-from 1810 to 1838-opium imports to China increased from 4,500 chests (the large containers used to ship the drug) to 40,000. As Chinese consumed more and more imported opium, the outflow of silver to pay for it increased, from about two million ounces in the early 1820s to over nine million ounces a decade later.

Great work once again, well done Glenn on the gold, you will come to enjoy the 6, they are a gold magnet and yes, the scoop, it is a hell of a lot easier to find the small gold and lead shot with one. That target your digging Ant inverted from the surface, so it's going to be a good one, the 4500 inverted at 2 grams, the 6 around 1 gram, so what does the 7 invert at? we'll have to wait and see.
