If no one has said it yet, the button is a Bowman Overalls button...I found one with the man shooting the bow and on top it said Bowman, and on the bottom it said Overalls...I found very little info on it as far as age...I was in Tennessee also.

Great show, Like your detecting equipment especially that shovel. When you around all those trees and bushes you have to slam dig through a load of roots I try to avoid them. Lucky Gin like to see you detect a park or beach again get those now finds😃👍. Also when you don't use your Long sand scoop you can use a hand sand scoop mine is made of plastic. Went to the beach today found a ring with real tested diamonds 💎! HAPPY FINDINGS 😊

One of the best places to metal detect on an old homestead, abandoned farm house, etc, is to look around the old privy (the outhouse) that is no longer in use. In my past experience metal detecting, I have found interesting treasures in and around the structure with a quarter moon often cut into the upper part of the door. Of course, you want to wear good gloves while working in the area.
@LuckyGin
@LuckyGin 2 жыл бұрын
I can’t say I’ve had the opportunity to detect around a privy yet. 😂 I will keep your advice in mind though if the chance ever pops up.🙂🍀
@jarmstrong2843
@jarmstrong2843 2 жыл бұрын
@@LuckyGin Many folks from the days of old use to hide their valuables in the privy since it was the thinking that location would be the last anyone would look if some one broke into their home. There are some videos on KZbin above about metal detecting around outhouses and old buildings. Ya may want to take a look at some to learn about a new twist in the activity. I used the search term “metal detecting around outhouses”. Some people will even go inside the old abandoned buildings that are on their last legs and search for hidden treasures in the walls with their metal detectors. Even in areas around the base of old trees might be a place to look. Old barns are soften times a treasure trove of great finds. Just don’t look around the wide open spaces like fields, beaches, etc. Old defunct buildings or near them are many times loaded with metal & other treasures.

It was definitely challenging, especially in the heat. Folks in that area didn’t have much back then, so I didn’t expect much treasure. Was hoping for some cool relics of the bygone era. Thanks so much for visiting my channel. ❤️

Hi Gin, that was a great video. I have a question. How dobyou find these old homesites or did you just know that one existed. It is not like there is an old home standing for you to know it is there?
@LuckyGin
@LuckyGin 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kurt, I was lucky on this site because the land belongs to a good friend and has been in the family for over 200 years. There’s also some other sites on this farm that I may explore later. You know, I came across another video on KZbin recently and the guy mentioned that the library of Congress has old maps on file and is a good place for research. I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, but it sounds like an awesome resource.

one thing you learn about the south and home sites in the woods is most people were dirt poor if they lived in a cabin and if they had a penny they didn't loose them.

Are those snake boots you are wearing Ms. Gin? How far down will your detector read a signal ?
@LuckyGin
@LuckyGin 2 жыл бұрын
They are really thick leather to protect against snake strikes and also I can spray them down with bug spray to keep ticks at bay. I’m not sure the exact depths, but I’ve hit targets well over 12” deep.

Just wondering as you are from Tennessee does that mean you get free Jack Daniels. If you do can you send me some to England. I'll pay for postage 🤣🤣. Love the videos keep it up. I just got into beach metal detecting few years ago and i loved it. Found on my first day out a 1oz 18k gold necklace. And a million can ring pulls. Joys of having fun 🤣🤣

Very cool button not really into relics more of a coin shooter. Here in Colorado don't find much silver coin but yesterday I did 2 in one day. Think I figured it out. So if you ever come to Colorado I could use a pretty face to get some permissions. Lol

Hi Lucky Gin, I'm a new subscriber, I really enjoy your channel, but with one compliant, the music is nice, but not when the music is being played over your voice, I can't hear what you are saying when you are metal detecting. It's always better to hear, that way, we as beginners can fall back on those valuable tips that you share with us. Also, you have a nice voice. But you did find some cool pieces of history, and I dig history the most! and the thrill of the hunt, well, you can't be it! A huge thank you Lucky Gin, I'll catch you on the rebound and Happy hunting, G t E.
