Metal Detecting: Digging Deeper With The TekneticsT2 Metal Detector

Here is a video showing how I set up my Teknetics T2 (will work with a Fisher F75 as well) to hunt in the "all metal" mode. I also demonstrate the different sounds to listen for and how to manually ground balance the detector. There are other tricks and sounds to listen for in all metal, but I wanted to keep the video short and manageable. If there is any interest, I will do a follow-up with a few more pointers.

I got a T2 Classic earlier this year and this has been the most useful video I've found on it. All metal mode is definitely the way to go on this machine. It's found me bullets on a site that I've pounded with other machines, including more expensive ones. The TIDs are erratic, but as Chig shows here, just dig it if it sounds good. I still need more practice, but this definitely seems like one of those sleeper machines that quietly punches above its weight.

About 20yrs ago I was given a Fisher 443 all metal big box detector. The Old timers showed me how to set it up and wear it in a chest harness. I remember listening to the threshold crackling as I walked behind guys with expensive Disc. detectors, I could hear the threshold change as it went over a target, This was on Venice Beach and I remember every 10 feet I got a coin sometimes 15" deep and these guys would look back and shake their heads. I'd forgotten all about it till your video.

I used this program and it's by far the best method to digging. I tear it up in hunted out sites and bullets don't even read right on meter as long as it's a solid signal even though not reading good on meter (9) is what # I've had and dug down it was a bullet

It's so hard trying to decide which to get, especially when you're not wealthy. I actually like the At Pro for coinshooting, I just think it's tid at depth could be a little better and it isn't that hot on nickels. I appreciate your response and very much enjoy your videos.

I have difficulty dealing with the constant chatter at that level. But I'll revisit it and see how I do. I've recently tried sens at 75-80, disc at 5, and 2+ - that worked fairly well for me. On another forum, I read about a setting the author calls "the process" - sens at 60, disc at 39, and using the BP (boost setting). I've tried it without much success, but the swears by it. Again, whatever works.

I've been looking to get a better detector, I have been using the At Pro and the Fisher Coinstrike this year but I've been looking at the T2. Beau, I have an Alpha Teknetics detector. I'm still not real sure how to use it correctly. I guess I'll have to find some videos on it to see how it works right and/or better. I wished that I researched more before I bought it. It is my first one ever, but I wish now that I got a waterproof one first. I'm just happy that I got one. :-D

I usually dig anything that hits on the right side of the 75 screen. I can't remember how to GB it though, maybe you can help me. Very good .. .. dont know why you showing your perfect way to to use the t2.. it will get you less items to find now lol..well i agree using the t2 for many years ..most time i use all metall and with a easy pull go to disc mode.. this i found is a very helpful way to find deep targets.different to deus and many outher brad that dont alow this easy switch just pinpont and that is not the same... now if the ground is full with iron you cant runn this method. well you can but it will slow u down a lot..dont forget that the mars tiger coil is a better coil to use ,, and it look better most of all lol.. anyways its the best video explaining the t2 and all detektors in general .. thanks for sharing ..great job regards from a oldtimer with 40 years of experiance..

Well the box on my Sovereign is right under my forearm, and it's still tiring to swing after a while. I'm pretty sure the weight is mostly in the coil believe it or not. (Then again I have my coil fully extended so the weight of it has a lot of leverage on me.) But for me, the weight isn't too much of a problem until I hit a long stretch of beach where I don't get any signals. As long as you get a signal every couple of minutes, the weight won't be a problem.

Great video, LM in the UK and use all metal quite a lot. Further to your demo regarding sounds, l find checking the metre numbers is spot on...anything between 46 and 96 dig, everything else is trash..metre is very accurate. Formby, again, you're commenting on things you're not qualified to quiry, the T2 and F75 are not identical, if you had used them both you'd know this. The T2 runs smoother, it has different disc filters to the F75. The Fisher is far 'sparkier', especially on UK ancient site

Looking for a better land detctor than the AT Pro? In it's class there isn't any. For a more expensive model you can get more depth but don't confuse depth with accuracy. I have the Fisher F75 which goes deeper than my AT Pro but when it comes to small items such as gold, jewelry and iron discrimination the AT Pro is in a class of it's own.

If I were you I would look for a cheap sovereign/excalibur on craigslist. That's what I did, I found a 10 year old sovereign, bought it for $275, and it works great on the beach. Most people probably wouldn't get a metal detector that old, but I guarantee you that the modern day sovereign is no better than the one I have. I've never had a false signal, and it discriminates iron very well.
