Metal Detecting & Found Silver with my TFR-4 long-range Locator!!

Metal detecting an old golf course. Thanks to my TFR-4 locator I was able to find the silver coins! The TFR helped me narrow down my search and took me to the spots where silver was!

I purchased the TFR-1 and found several coins along with the TFR2...I thought about it for awhile and there is not one way how to use your machines. Everyone's techniques are in their balance of the rods. I found no silver yet, but found a 1977 quarter with the TFR-1 and a metal detector. I started back up in home testing, it's difficult but can be done. My wife would hide throughout the house different coins under different throw rugs. I use the TFR-1 to locate each one. It takes me spot on top of the coin but not so easy for me out in a wide park. I can get hits for sure! Walking them in and boxing can be a tad difficult, your arm can get tired and sometimes subconsciously my arm would drop enough to throw my antenna off kilt. So I take frequent breaks! This spring we are going to do the early sunrise hunts. These rods work! I actually thought I would not own these a week and they would be sent back, damn! These rods are sensitive to gold and silver. For kicks and grins, I placed a dollar bill inside the TFR-1 chamber and had my wife place a dollar bill somewhere out in the 2000 foot acre park near us + or - in square footage. She placed the dollar bill with two rocks to hold it down and she moved somewhere else and told me to turnaround and begin. I got my first hit! I followed the line of site and stopped every so often to re-scan from left to right and right to left making sure I am still on the imaginary line that goes down the middle where the two power lines from the scan crossed. As I was walking the rod turned inside me, so now I hit the field of the dollar bill planted somewhere. I place a stake tent at that location and scanned the area and it had me got to my right, so I walked a straight line and the rod turned inside pointing to the center, I placed a stake at that point and did this all 4 times doing a simple boxing method. It was 4x4 square feet. I lowered the antenna and redone my box and boxed it in around 2x2 and sure enough deep inside the grass was my one dollar bill with two stones on it. I couldn't use my metal detector on this one for obvious reasons. When I use the TFR-1 I really don't need any samples to speak of, I know what I want and it hunts it down for me with all its turns using the pointer at the end of the antenna. Last year the problem I was having wasn't that the TFR's were not working properly it's I was still learning how to use it and not work against myself when doing so. I found clad coins in place where I thought was silver coins and just maybe they were there but a foot deeper and my metal detector a Garett couldn't go deep enough to retrieve those silvers. The signal still read silver after retrieving the clad coins. The reason then I suppose is it just happens to be clads over the target while metal detecting at the time. All these coins I found but not as many as our friend has (especially silver) I found almost the entire length of the city park and that is about 2000 or square feet near wooded area I couldn't find those clads in such a large area just using the MD alone. I set my TFR-1 to find clads also such as wheat penny and I did find one! The TFR-1 doesn't limit one to a single sample, I can find gold , silver, copper, nickel etc. using the TFR-1 with no Samples. My TFR-2 requires samples of everything I hunt for but where it shines for me the device doesn't use one's body as a "ground"! The TFR-2 becomes a ground itself it was designed for this. I have given prices what I paid for and how much as far as John's pricing goes you will have to call him and get a quote, I spent around $4000.00 but my includes my many tools plus both TFR-1 and TFR-2 and the capsule from John that detects gold, silver, and paper dollars all at the same time. You can ask John how it works! I am safer just staying blunt enough on here! Make sure your not carrying on yourselves any gold or silver in your pockets during the hunt it might confuse you. But I wrote this because John deserves credit for these wonder rods! I actually didn't thing the rods were going to work for me, especially the TFR-1 being it uses your body as a "ground"! I was never good at something like this with similar products, you know the cheaper built ones being sold out there. With my metal detector to retrieve the target, there's no way I would go coin hunting without either rod! I usually bring both TFR's with me to double check but hey that's me! I am going to record also my hunts at the parks here this spring, for those who have ghost issues, John has the cure! Give him a call. I don't know all that much about it. I forgot to say, I used the TFR-1 to find agates and around 500 feet from where I was standing I locked onto the target boxed it in a 2x2 box and dug in the dirt and grass and found 3 pieces! I went to treasure place where they talk about long range locators and metal detecting stories, basically they despise people who use these long range locators. I have a friend in Florida who owns and Electroscope by Thomas back in 1985 and I borrowed it for awhile while on Fort Walton Beach where I was stationed and the 301 would pull to hidden energy from the ground and point. Two things I found uncomfortable with this model, the first it was bulky and to think I used this for one hour and my arm was aching! It's like a big chunk of plastic floating on the handle and the trick to it is, of course balance. But I found lot's of pull tops with it! So everyone on that treasure site said it didn't work! It's because they never tried one! Thomas's has been around for years he was from the same place in PA I was born and raised and I still couldn't afford $2500.00 back then. My friend found some silver dabloons after a storm using it at the same beach where I was stationed on Hurburt Field AFB FL. My friend told me if you can find better do so! That's what compelled me years later that LRL was real I just needed to find something that few have and that doesn't pick up junk. Late last year when I came into retirement I found John's light weight but heavy enough instrument to fight against that wind that would come up every now and then (TFR-1-2-4). I thought what I paid was reasonable for the use I got from these last year! It's hard to find anywhere to talk about LRL to seasoned metal detectorists, they call it dumb luck! To the ignorant who lacks LRL knowledge of such tools, no better words were ever spoken to reflect their attitudes and huge bias. I gave up with them, talking about such LRL. I couldn't try every thing that was out there that I found these instruments were now coming with a box (electronic) with two L-Rods to locate the treasure. I was in contact with Fitzgerald and was interested in his line of detectors but hey $4000.00 for his Gold machine and his top of the line is $20,000+! He lives in Oregon I believe near the coast. I talked with others who owned his similar L-Rod models and they were really mad, no results, not even on a single coin. So you gots to be careful when shopping for these types of instruments and understand the cost and to what audience he or she is targeting in the sales, are they high end customers or everyday Joes like myself. After years of debating on purchasing the $4000 Mellinium model of his just late last year I ran into John's site and got to talk with him. He explained what he had discovered and to give it try, so I did and here I am today! I am well pleased for the fraction of the cost of high end instruments on the market. Don't go cheap on a treasure shovel, I got a good one from KellyCo with serrated edges but it cuts the sod like a knife through butter and without tearing everything apart before retrieval, placing the same sod clump back into its whole. I am looking forward to cache hunting for mason jars or cans full of hidden coins that farmers buried back in the old days during when everyone had to turn in their gold! Farmers buried their loot until it past over and then forgot about it over the years. I will use the TFR-1 with the control weight discriminator so I can set the desired poundage I am looking for. For single coins I would just use the rod itself. My wife used our 9-1/2 pound jar of quarters, dimes and nickels we saved over the years from odd leftover pocket change. We took it out to the park and she carried that heavy thing almost 1500 feet to lay it on it's side and then relocates herself and tells me to turnaround and hunt for it. I first used the TFR-1 by itself I wanted to locate quarters knowing there were quarters in that jar! I got a hit way out in the field opposite of where my wife was situated. I plugged my small discriminator box into the handle unit and placed it on 9-1/2 pounds and I still had the same lock in the same direction. I walked it for about 5 minutes and then the scope finally responded by turning against the aura of those fresh targets. I boxed it in on all 4 sides about a 4x4. Took the detector and poked around and off center of the box under some fresh cut grass there was the coin jar! I was ecstatic! I throw up a video this coming spring, my wife anyways wants to get a go-pro for my hat to record the hunt also. This is the only way people are going to believe what we are doing really works!

I have same problem with my long range locator. It detects burried targets but many times are not the ones I set the frequency for. I think that all burried things creates a energy line or perturbance in the earth magnetic field especialy when they are in the ground for many years. It seems quite difficult to discriminate with the LRL devices.

No need to be a smarty pants, you're not paying close attention here: look closer at the Roosevelt dime and you can clearly see the age and tarnish on it which probably just means it was in the ground for a lot longer than the Merc dime and the Quarter.

Thanks for your reply. I am thinking about purchasing one of the machines and wanted to know if power lines limited the results in any way. Like you, I've used an electroscope for many years and, as you know, it will pick up brass, copper, lead, etc. when set to silver. Is this also an issue with the tfr4?

Sandy Pocketz. Oh ok Check out my review videos.. you can clearly see that my TFR locator doesn't hit the junk. And it also has a stronger pull on silver and gold.. As far as power lines.. When i did my review videos, theres powerlines about 100ft away and didn't affect the tfr.. But i rather use long-range equipment on large areas anyways..

Thats COOL... same idea I had... I bought the TFR-4 last year... I drove from Alberta CANADA down to Idaho USA to JOHN the Inventors Doorstep (youtube... Treasure Finder ) he showed me in person how to use it... Bought another New MINELAB Detector this year to head out hunting....

I met JOHN in person and he spent a few hours showing me how to use the machine and it worked every time... it's simple science just like water witching... the TFR have Loaded or Programed crystals in them that match the energy that the ground is giving off... like any detector you do get interference from other signals but more the SUN instead of junk metal... Johns not a Rich man with a store TFRs are ALL home built and JOHN is a Gold and Treasure hunter like some of US....

Thanks... My problem last year was my GARRETT AT GOLD I couldn't get it to beep on a 1oz Gold nugget I set on the ground let alone one less than a gram... Not sure if the coil got wet inside doing streams or what the problem was... So I'm hoping the New MINELAB will do better this year and the TFR-4 will narrow down the 100 square mile search area... Thanks to your Video I decided to take the TFR-4 with me, it reminded me this was one of the reason I bought it.

Leon Dhanushka. Hello Lean.. I have more experience in long-range then metal detecting.. Thru out my years i been wanting the best set up. As far as a. good detector and good long-range.. Ihave bought a lot of long-range locators and sold a bunch back. But the Electroscope and tfr 4 are my babies. All them expensive Turkish locators are crap. If u don't see videos of that long-range actually finding treasure on live hunts, there fakes.

Leon Dhanushka. Hello Leon.. The tfr-4 and Electroscope work great with practice. But the tfr is better. Has better pull to targets and cheaper.. Let me see if i can find the website to the tfr company. If you're gonna buy a tfr rod. Find someone with land and get that person to bury silver coins with out him telling u where,so you can practice with the tfr. Once u find the coins you will be convinced. :)
