On a recent hunt at a late 1700s early 1800s site by me I found two silver demitasse spoons. One said Brown one said Kimberly. Both were monogrammed with a fancy calligraphy. Guessing they were coin silver because it would be before 925 or Sterling stamps. I posted a video about it. The photos of history are a great touch this channel. Nice finds!

Hi, Greg. Another great episode! If I found that spoon, I would have ended my day right then because I don’t think it would have gotten better than that. Haha. I have a question… I see you using a metal bristled brush to clean some of the finds. I’m petrified to do that and never carry one. My first instinct is to use water, then maybe a toothbrush or kitchen brush if I know it won’t affect the quality. What determines when you use it? Is it only a certain type of metal that you know it’s good for? For instance, the back of the hand mirror. I would think that would have damaged an amazing find, yet you used it right away and it looks better after doing so. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks! - Wayne
@FindingAmerica
@FindingAmerica 7 ай бұрын
Well, I'm glad Chris didn't end his day after that one because he found another very cool piece a couple of hours later. :) As for the brush, it is not a brass or metal brush. It has relatively soft black nylon bristles. The camera's microphone makes it sound like a buzz saw when I use it. LOL I NEVER use a brass brush on anything other than rusty iron. I also have a toothbrush in my pouch with that red brush I use. When I got home, I used a wet piece of #0000 steel wool soaked with dish liquid soap to clean the mirror cover. It's a great way to clean things without damaging them. Thanks as always for watching Wayne!
