You remind me of my dad. He retired to Naples, FL with my mom. He had a hobby of woodworking and loved every minute of it. You are so blessed and I wish you nothing but good tidings. You are at the very top of the list of my favorite beach hunters. I have watched your videos many times and have added a lot to my beach reading skills. Thanks for your service to your country. I spent 3 years in the US Army during the Vietnam era and know that it is not always fun and games, but it was probably the best period of my life. Hard to describe to anyone who has not experienced it. It caused me to grow up and get down to the business of getting an education after I left the Army.

though I had some problem with sea water It also kzbin.infoUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

Incredibly informative films that have explained the methods much better than I've ever seen before. I live on the coast in the UK, so I'll invest in one of the Minelab Sovereigns, hopefully it works just as well on dry land. I also noted your use of a sand scoop, meaning you didn't need to bend down. Perfect for my knees and back! Thanks very much and good luck to you!!

I built a heathkit detector in the late 1960's and was the only detector around besides geiger counters. I bought a radio shack model in 1971 and the 1st whites 5000d in 1976. Many whites since. I am the foremost authority on metal detecting and this guy seems to know the basics, but.... They always come back with how much they have found and I always come back with how much they missed. He concedes it's due to medical problems. Most rings are lost in chest deep water. The fingers shrink in cold water and the swimming action pulls them off, so following the tide to the surf is a good idea. I found 350 in one day at a lake erie beach that was moved in the 1940's.

Great videos Terry! Nice pointers to hunting the beaches. Also congrats on your latest big silver find. Saw your photo in the big book at McLarty museum. Been here in Florida almost a week trying to detect the beaches and only finding a few clad and lots of fishing sinkers. Surprised I haven't run into another detectorists yet! Beaches are in terrible shape and surf is really high, but now at least I understand your comments about the mineralization. Tough to got a machine dialed in, but yes, gotta dig those faint signals. BTW, I'm using the CTX 3030 and GPX 4800. The GPX has hit targets like pennies and weighted fish hooks over 2 feet down! Again, thanks for the video and good hunting to you!
@terryshannon29916 жыл бұрын
First off I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. I had some medical issues but I'm back out swinging. I wish you luck and one day that coin will show up. Terry

I noticed your machine had a large head.. How deep have you found items? What is the smallest and deepest most valuable find so far? What has been your best time, Day, week, Month year... How much time did you put into this? and how much value did you find? With all the hurricanes and storms will there be new items washed up to find? Those ocean swells should bring in most anything. Where do you find the high value items? Is low tied the best area and the best place to find the newly washed up items? May I suggest a show about finding the best spots and finding the most valuable items.

Arthur you are absolutely right, I have a terrible swing but when I do get into stuff I slow way down and scrub the coil over lapping each swing. I just got into some ship wreck stuff last week and had a couple of great days. I have an app on my phone that keeps track of my steps and miles. When I was working this last site I was going so slow that the steps wouldn't register on my phone. That surprised me. Terry

Watching your video is great but I notice you still swing your detector high and low not flat on the ground but it doesn't seem to bother you finding lots of stuff. good luck from another detector guy on the treasure coast.
@bens30675 жыл бұрын
Your sovereign tones and threshhold sounds exactly like my excalibur 2. I would guess that its basically the same detector ,only difference is that the excal can go underwater.

Your correct Ben they are basically the same and both great detectors. I wish you the very best of luck out there. Terry

Thanks, I’m from that area. I don’t live there now. I visit a couple times a year. Been thinking about trying this out. Maybe we could meet up when I’m in town. Where’s a good place to buy a detector??

First off I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. I had some medical issues but I'm back out swinging. I have had great service from treasure mountain detectors that deal on line. The owner Ed is a great guy and will treat you right. I would love to meet up some time. Terry

thank you for the great advise terry we can all learn your tips are awesome many blessings to you one quick question what is the deepest good target you have dug at a beach?
@terryshannon73427 жыл бұрын
Kenneth when I hit an area that has a lot of targets or if I'm down to the original sand I really slow down and scrub the coil and have picked up some pretty deep targets 18 to 20 inches. Good luck. Terry

Love watching your videos.. learnt alot. Was just wondering what size coil you have on your gt sovereign... love the hobby...
@terryshannon73426 жыл бұрын
Rick I have the big SEF coil and I get incredible depth with it but it's a heavy swing. I really enjoy the hobby and wish you the best of luck. Terry

Terry, no offense but you are lifting your detector up at an angle after you sweep directly in front of you. You're eliminating a good deal of area by doing this. Try to maintain the detector parallel to the ground for as long as you can. This is why you recomment going over a spot twice. You are not doing it right as there is simply no need to re-detect an area if you are sweeping it correctly
@terryshannon29914 жыл бұрын
S T you are absolutely about my swing and I work on it constantly. In my defense when I hit a target rich area that coil is right on the ground. I do however disagree on going over a target rich area the second time at a 90 degrees. Wish you the best. Terry

Ely your are 100 percent right on the wild swing of mine I fight it all the time but when I am in a hot area that coil is scrubbing the sand. Good luck Terry

Mr Terry, what kind of shoes/socks are you using on the video?
@terryshannon29915 жыл бұрын
Luiz I almost often go barefoot but on occasion I wear a pair of neoprene dive boots but I need to upgrade to something with a hard sole. Terry

Nice level swing you have.......
@terryshannon29915 жыл бұрын
I probably have the worst swing out there. I am working on it and in my defense when I get into targets I do slow way down and scrub the coil. With the old sovereign there is a threshold feature that saves my butt. Good Luck and scrub that coil. Terry

Awesome video Terry . Whts your thoughts on the soverign gt ?
@terryshannon73426 жыл бұрын
Sam I have used the Soverign for years now on the beach. It's an incredible beach machine. I haven't tried the new 30 30 but may pick up one of the new equinox, but I have no intention of retiring the soverign. Terry

Thank you Terry for all your insight,and the willingness to share the knowledge you've collected over the years. Watching your videos,and seeing your choice on what machine you tend to lean towards has me out on the hunt for a sovereign. I have a question,and i know it may be subjective,but in your opinion which company makes the best after market coils for the Sov? Cors,s.e.f.,nel or coiltek seem to be most of what i see offered online. Thank you once again,and i hope to see more videos from you in the future.
@terryshannon73426 жыл бұрын
Daniel I love the sef coil and i get incredible depths with it. I can't judge it against the other coils because in beach hunting I use only the sef. Thank you for you kind words and good luck out there. Terry

Is is still illegal to metal detect in the water? Enjoying your videos.

Most of the area north of the inlet is open. It's just where they have the salvage rights that the water is off limits. Glad you enjoyed the video.Terry
