My daddy tweeted his metal detector to sound a different pitch with aluminum/poptabs, etc. He would hear the beep, find the treasure and we kids would cover up the holes. LOL. He was a real treasure finder. This was back in the 60’s/70’s.

My husband lost his diamond and gold ring on the beach one month into the marriage. I kind of feel sad thinking someone must have found and sold it already. We couldn't afford to get him another one because they are so expensive. It's been 7 years.

I lived in Fort Myers for 5 years and only went to the beach once for about 2 hours. I'm not a beach person. I'd rather walk the beach at night. I moved back to New England bc Florida just wasn't for me, but I'm very interested in metal detecting, always was. Maybe I'll take it up as a hobby in my retirement.

Our condo complex on Ft. Myers Beach was destroyed in 2022 by Hurricane Ian. Since it still hasn't been rebuilt we rented a place for this winter. I was on the fence about whether to bring my metal detector with me this winter, thinking all i would find is trash left over from the storm. However after watching this I leaning towards bring it along. Thanks!

been raining here in california. got the V12 coil for my vanquish 340. and the rain cover. ,it was only $60 on craigslist. but real easy to use. found $.27 and a pair of shears ,the 2 hours i was at the beach. days ago. have a good day.

That’s a cool older ring called an intaglio style, meaning carved in rather than cameo style which is raised.

Ft. Myers Beach??? I graduated from Ft Myers High. It sure has hanged a bunch. Is that whats left of the old Ft Myers Pier??? That hurricane really did a lot of damage. The old open air restaurant /eating area that use to be at the base is probably completely gone completely. Do the plan to rebuild the pier???

All of those restaurants are totally gone :( They're rebuilding the pier, but it probably won't happen until next year. It's gonna be a long time until that area feels normal again

The only issue is that sand is sooooo abrasive. A company currently makes powder coated scoops, and the powder coat lasts about 2 hours

I found out because your body is a huge percentage of water when you’re in it that’s why fingers etc shrinks and jewels fall off. Better to remove before going near water

Hey man do you have any tips on setting on the Deus2 in the Florida saltwater beach? I hunt lakes in Louisiana and feel I know my machine well. Just hoping for a few tip’s before I head over there.

The sensitivity of the factory beach programs is way too high. I set it back to around 80, and change the ground balance to tracking. It will really help stabilize the machine in salt water

There is SO much debris. They did a pretty good job getting it out of the dry sand, but couldn't do anything in the water. Me and a bunch of friends spent days and days clearing out debris and all kinds of hazards from the hurricane. The water north of the pier still isn't safe to walk around barefoot. There's just too much there

Does Fort Myers Beach’s water always look that brown now? 🥺 This was my family’s vacation spot of over 25 years. The house we used to stay at has been demolished and they’re building a huge concrete thing. The beach I knew is gone. 😔

It is brown alot of the time. Even prior to the hurricane. They also just released water from Lake Okeechobee so it’s crazy how brown it gets :(

Fort Myers will never have the same vibes to it anymore. With so many buildings gone, it will be modernized and commercialized. So sad :( But yes, the water is rarely clear there anymore
