Thank you!!! My channel is true to the hobby in having great finds as well as great big piles of junk. Lol. I try to provide history, entertain with items like rabbits lol, show the hobby as whole as the hunt unfolds. Discovery takes work as well as trial and error on sites to find the true spot that provides good targets. I hope what I do on here helps folks to find their own great sites as well as pursue the hunt enough to get reward. Thank you very much for your kind words as well as subbing and watching. 👍🏻🙂

Dang!! 17 years of keeping home a wonderful land to live in. 👍🏻🇺🇸 Thank you. I’m glad you like the videos as well as the common ground of the V machine. I try each time I go out to find awesome stuff but it’s not always the case. I decided to just make videos anyway from now on. I worry that I make the machine look bad but I’m sure if the targets were there... i’d have them pinned. Thank you for your service and thank you for being a part of the folks that check out the videos I make. It’s a pleasure to provide them.

Don't give up the hunt for the house. You will find it. Nice to see you detecting. Our detecting season here in Vermont is over for the year,due to an early snowfall of more than 6" yesterday/expecting 6-12" more overnight. Dig on my friend its nice to see you digging ! I am done for this year.

I won’t give up, I believe it’s just waiting to be found. I will head out in the back field next time I’m out there and just start there. The far ridge looks like a better place to build a home land use wise than where I was hunting. I watch Green Mountain Metal Detecting every week so from is reports it seems the season is turning down for the year like you say. This evening we got 4” inches of snow and a covering of ice. It’s gonna make this weekend muddy digging but I’m going anyway. Hopefully I can provide enough context this winter to get you through til spring thaw out. HH and take care. 🐿

I really like the live shows you do... that’s a lot of fun. I have a timer on my phone that will go off every Thursday to remind me to join in. I haven’t figured out everything that is going on during the broadcast yet, phone in, emails, etc. but i’ll get it figured out eventually. Thank you for checking the video out, I’m glad to be a part of your activities as well as glad you tuned in to watch this video. 👍🏻 HH and take care.

Nice Job mr. Squirrel 🐿 . I seem to find more of the 1812 Era items closer to the lake or a little farther South towards fort Lawrence.
@squarenailsquirrel96386 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I have been wanting to get closer to the lake although the two people I have asked while up there have both looked at me like I was crazy for asking to metal detect. LOL I will keep trying to find a spot closer to where all the troops were running east to west and back from PA to Fort Meigs. I know they left a barrel of gold and Indian trade silver up there somewhere. LOL Thanks for the direction on 1812. Hopefully someday I can just find a button or something. Thanks for checking out the video as well as producing your videos.. takes a lot of work and it's appreciated.

🐿🤗 always cool being called squirrel. Lol. Thank you, I try to keep things interesting by doing something different. I’m glad I found that Mercury dime... I think this is the first time I found only a silver and no wheat cents. Usually it’s the other way around. Lol. Yes, little Cojack is a cutie and I figured he would steal the show. I never knew how much fun a pet rabbit could be until my wife and I got him. Just letting him makes me happy. If I could only teach him to dig my plugs then that would make for a great team digging. Squirrel and a rabbit out metal detecting. Lol. Thank you for watching, pleasure to have ya here.

I think the house is out in that far side of the back field. Next time I head over there I will start back there instead of getting fatigued by hunting up from half the day before heading back. I believe it’s just waiting to be discovered and hopefully next time out I actually will. Thanks for checking out the video. HH and take care.

Another great hunt and video. I look at it you were continuing research in the field. Can you further pinpoint the age of the house that's there? You found a spot near the house where a house or outbuilding maybe burned down which dates at least to 1943. It does seem like Peters house is back in the corn field. Nice job looking for brick, pottery, etc. Maybe go back and look for iron signals. I'm thinking the house was wooden and given the extensive farming and crop cover, may be very little visual debris/markers left. Don't give up yet Squirrel! You've gathered more info on the area...keep working it. I have faith you'll find it. 😊 To our veterans - thank for your service 👍🇺🇸
@squarenailsquirrel96386 жыл бұрын
This site is harder to pin down date wise. I only have little snippets of info that I can find so daring the house any farther is hard. I did fail to mention one key thing in the video that can be misleading on sites when choosing to detect or not. I always look at foundations to date the site. There are many facets to how the stones were shaped, even shaped at all, the type of stone, types of mortars and the tooling marking on them can place a house within a 20 year time frame of construction. But!!! Folks didn’t go to Home Depot to buy sandstone foundation stones to build their homes if one burnt down or was removed due to being past repair. Many foundations were just reused on the next house which makes an 1890 home look like it’s from 1820. Can get tricky. I believe you are correct on the old home that I’m looking for being back in the corn field on that far ridge. Makes more sense on placement as well as land use. I will be back there eventually to locate it. I mentioned the school house for Thursday to gain permission to in the video. Well... I got back from that meeting tonight and it is a go for this weekend. So, if the school fizzles out for finds i’ll Just head across the road to this site again. Works out great. We just got a blanket of snow and ice tonight so it’s gonna be a muddy hunt. No biggie.. I’m digging until it’s froze past 6”. It kinda fun bringing home frozen dirt balls and thawing them out at home to reveal the target. That’s gonna be a video nobody else has done. Lol. It’s gonna happen at some point this winter. :)
@lindapelullo4526 жыл бұрын
@@squarenailsquirrel9638 excellent point about foundation Stone reuse. That does make it more tricky. I have noticed your use of foundations to date sites and why you look at them. You're foundation analysis is fairly unique in my experience...most people talk about "stone" foundations whereas you are specific...sandstone...and give more detail. I enjoy hearing your thought process...in case you couldn't tell 😉 I think there's still a good chance you will find - it's virgin ground - maybe narrow down area & test holes like Chigg. Congrats on the additional premission -- look forward to it and frozen mudball treasures! I'm in the Phila area and we got the same snow/sleet last night. Food for thought ...if I had access to fields like you, I would get a Nox. Your recent video with the No Hunter in the fields made me realize that fields can be very similar to beaches - targets spread out, dig everything, etc, so VDI accuracy & separation less critical than in trashy area. Probably why your fellow detectorist is using one in that field. I would pay for the 800 because of being on land and 600 gives you higher freq only in beach mode. My $0.02 😊 Thx for taking the time n patience to read and provide detailed responses. You're a class act Squirrel! Be safe & HH!

For some reason I have always incorporated the foundation for estimating a homes age. If stones were used and are not native to the homes location, the shape or crudeness of the craftsmanship, the tooling used to shape them, the way they were placed in position (style of lock and joining) all help is estimating age as well as who crafted the structure. Just like with stone walls... an Irish settlers wall built in the US is very different than a German settles wall. The saw cuts, hewing marks and joints to join timbers can also produce estimates of who and when as well. I’m not a pro at utilizing the info like others I have met over the years so I try not to mislead viewers by calling out too much info when I’m reasoning by building components. Although I do take what evidence I have in the field into consideration as to determining if it’s old or very old. Foundations built from brick, glazed block or concrete block are good evidence that the home is more recently built with age determined by the invention of the component. This all just helps with understanding the site. I believe i’m going to get an 800 when the time/cash availability is right. I wasn’t going to because one of my initial drives in making videos stemmed from wanting to be a White’s field team member. Recently there has been clues as to me being black balled by them. It shows in KZbin and another social media site Instagram. Items such as removing me from being followed and the lack of communication by comments posted as well as small favors asked with no response, etc. I had phone discussions as well as email to purchase software, get established, permission to utilize the White’s names and resemblance in my logo. This all was inspiring although I’m not sure if it would be right for me to keep trying to be a part of all that.. somewhat disappointing chasing the “approval” if that makes sense. I don’t sell metal detectors or have any vested interest in the company although I’ve been loyal to the brand for half of my life and have decided to break that trend. So, with that said... I’m just going to use whatever I believe will make me a better detectorist, find awesome stuff and share my experience with everyone that watches ultimately focusing on square Nail 🐿. It’s early morning so I tend to ramble.... sorry for the novel. Lol.

@@squarenailsquirrel9638 I hear ya...sorry to hear about your experience with White's. I've used only used White's machines too. Like a lot of people, I have my concerns about whether White's will be competitive or survive in this market with their current tech leadership. Sounds like you are better off...Relic Recoverist was selected to be on White's test team at start of her MD'g career on KZbin and look where she is now. Seems like anyone with a decent following on YT eventually gets approached by Garrett...you probably will too if you haven't already. Garret fully embraced social media and put faces to the brand. White's always behind the pack in marketing and Minelab doesn't need to sponsor cuz the Nox is selling itself. It's been fascinating watching these companies compete and out do each other. If White's doesn't respond to the Nox soon, it will become 2nd tier or go out of business. Time will tell... I know I'm preaching to the choir 😀 Happy Thanksgiving!
