👍One of the qualities,i think,is,that Floor uses these long notes,really finishing a sentence with no haste,it has a calming/comforting effect. In most songs Floor let's the sentences flow or ring out,it's a quality i like.🤘

Floor's voice is like a warm hug, isn't it ... Sleeping Sun was launched on 11th of August 1999, the same day with the solar eclipse which occurred in part of Europe and Asia that year. Now if you take the exact verses which contain "222" you have: 222 days of light will be desired by the night. coincidence or not, there are exactly 222 days starting 1st of January till August 10th inclusive. - valid for non-leap years. This is my absolute favorite version of this song, with Floor starting out so delicately and then gradually building throughout the performance. By the way, I saw them perform this live in San Francisco in 2022 and that was also amazing. For me, Floor is the one for Nightwish... and I love every single member of the band. Thank you for this. 2015 Masters of Rock festival, Czech Republic, the Ronnie James Dio stage. Same concert as the "Last Ride of the Day" video you watched. Just a great song, whether Tarja or Floor sings it ,both are awesome. Marko was there, don't know why he wasn't shown on camera, he was shown in the LROTD video. This is a good song for today. The brand new The Warning song "Automatic Sun" is another one you can check out later. I'm in Buffalo, in the path of the full eclipse, but typical weather , supposed to be cloudy all day.

This is the best version of all, 12 July 2015 actually. I love this - it almost makes my top 6. This one, as usual has differences from others. The RJD stage is a stage named after him at the venue, in Vizovice, Czechia. Floor sang lullabys to Freja, certainly - there is a video on her channel. As to Emppu's guitar, Floor said this: "[My]guitar hero? I play in a band with him: that’s Emppu [Vuorinen, Nightwish guitarist]. He is an amazing guitar player, but he doesn’t need to fill every gap in the song with meaningless notes. He really keeps the atmosphere [of the songs]. What he plays in Sleeping Sun is beautiful."

On the R J D sign that you saw, this performance was at the Masters of Rock festival in Czech Republic and the main stage has been called the Ronnie James Dio stage since 2010 as a tribute. And it being a festival might also be the reason for the no close- up with Marko ? Just guessing but it is most certainly Marko, or the director doesn’t like bassists 😜🤣

I played this as the sun slipped behind the moon in the North of Western Australia, this time last year. I travelled almost 2000km round trip to experience 98% totality in the middle of nowhere. It was awesome! Next one will be 2028 for me.

This is a perfect way to start an exciting day for me. Thank you so much, Bill, for taking my suggestion. A total eclipse of the sun is such a rare event, and I am in the path of totality. Even if it is cloudy, it will get dark and for a brief moment night will infringe upon the day. This is the perfect song to play on this day. Floor does a marvelous job, of course, and now I am ready to go out and celebrate this day. I'll report back after the eclipse is over. @@BemusingBill Just in from watching the eclipse. It is, unfortunately, very cloudy here, so I didn't get to see anything of the moon actually passing in front of the sun. What I did get, though, was "the silence". Because of the clouds, it got very, very dark. I sat in my chair very quietly, listening to the birds going about their business and singing so many different songs. Then, totality hit and the darkness came. With the darkness, came the silence, suddenly and completely. As soon as the moon started passing the sun, it started to grow light again, and song started up again. It was a wonder and I am so glad that I was by myself, in the quiet of the woods around me and got to experience that.

Great choice for today! This is one of Floor's favorites, which is primarily why it's remained on the setlist. This is my favorite version. It's just absolute perfection with the way it's performed (especially Floor and Emppu), the way it's lit, the way it's shot, etc. And the way it builds to those belts after Emppu's guitar solo is just epic! This is the Masters of Rock festival. I think one of the stages is named in honor of Dio. I believe Wacken did the same thing. And regarding Marko, I don't remember if you did "Last Ride of the Day" from the same concert, but he's featured prominently in that one. Speaking of favorites, that's my favorite version of that song too.

I was prepaired but unfortunally on this day it was massive cloudy so i couldn´t expirience it. I think that Floor Jansen is not as good a singer as Tarja Turunen was in Nightwish. Being a vocal coach does not mean that you are the best singer yourself, but they are good at teaching technique with breathing. Unlike you, I know a lot about opera. So if Tarja and Floor were to be in an opera performance, Tarja would get a bigger role because of her voice compared to Floor. Then Florr was nothing but a vocal coach. So your talk is nonsense.
