You hit it, this is very much an homage to 80s city pop music. The thing I love about AG is that no two songs sound the same, they go across every genre.

"Otonablue" has a 1970s and 80s Showa era pop feel and is influenced by the song "Furui Nikki" by Akiko Wada. AG! have even performed a mash up of the two songs with Wada. "Otanablue" has a double meaning. It means "adult blues", but when Suzuka says "buru" (and she does it on purpose) it means "to pretend to be an adult". It's about a girl who fantasizes about feeling adult emotions and love, but isn't really ready yet although she's very aware of older men looking at her. It's a tricky subject, but obviously one that is particularly relevant to the young women in a pop group that started when they were teenagers. It's AG! being honest and showing their strength. AG! are never timid. AG! formed back in 2015 and are managed by Asobisystem. They come out of an idol tradition, but don't follow the usual idol rules as they have a lot of artistic input into their performances and songs and are very "free" on stage. Mizyu (two hair bunches) had already worked with Asobisystem as a backup dancer with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and Suzuka, Rin and Kanon joined her. Mizyu is three years older than the others and so is sometimes called the leader and the other three still look to her in some circumstances, but Suzuka's extrovert personality and strong voice make her the obvious front woman. Suzuka will often jump into the crowd at concerts while the other three keep the song going on stage. Rin does a lot of rapping, Kanon and Mizyu provide the sweeter more melodic vocal harmonies and Mizyu is also very extrovert and energetic on stage.They are all trained dancers and do their own choreography and work with various producers on the songs including H ZettM, Money Mark and Yonkey. Their music ranges from Showa influenced pop to jazz and hip hop with a Beastie Boys feel. They have even done some songs that have free jazz parts like "SNS24" and for some hip hop check out "Nai Nai Nai". They were a big hit at Coachella 2024 and premiered some new songs, I'd encourage you to react to those as well. "Omakase", "Arigato" and "Forever Sisters".

I am pretty much metal/hard rock and NEVER listen to pop. But after 7 years of following J-Metal bands I kept seeing comments and suggestions for AG. About 3 years ago during Covid I finally broke down and watched them. Otona Blue was the 1st and instantly loved this group. Still the only pop band I ever watch. Thing is this group is Uber talented in singing, choreography, live performances and lyrically are fearless. They started like 9 years ago when in school. Mizyu (pig tails) is the oldest, 25 and Rin, KANON and Suzuka are all 22. Like I said they are fearless and directly confront societal issues. Tokyo Calling-dregs of life in Tokyo, Koi Geba-teacher and student sexual affairs, Otona Blue (lyrics when they themselves were teens) about the feelings young girls feel when they sexually mature and draw the attention of men BUT are not ready for relationships etc…. I would selfishly suggest Dokubana (1st video they made) and Koi Geba. You will find loads of genres in their music pop, rap, jazz and hard rock.

@muhammadramadhani38456 source? since i'm pretty sure AG create choreography by themselves, even created ones for other group. i doubt the have dance couch.
@roberthradek71007 ай бұрын
@@user-sc3oh1bw4z A dance coach doesn't do choreography for you, they just teach you the best way to dance, and AG are well trained. Kanon also has an acrobatics coach, that girl can do a 360 degree flip without hands. Though I also would like a source.

Suzuka definitely has a very big personality. In my opinion she is the main comedian of the group, not in terms of telling jokes (I don't understand the Japanese language), but in terms of doing physical comedy during dance and singing performances. "Tokyo Calling" is a must see official music video, and "Nainainai Dance Practice" nicely shows how wild Suzuka is capable of getting when she has an opportunity to improvize.

This song was produced with a collaborator of theirs named Yonkey from the band Klang Ruler.

The handful of songs that I've listened to from them, all different. Pineapple Kryptonite, Maningen, Suki Lie, or SEISHUN WO KIRISAKU HADO. They even do a cover of Intergalactic, from the Beastie Boys. They have worked with Beastie's producer Money Mark, and they just played Coachella couple weeks back.

You should do one of their 'dance practice' videos. Their dance choreography is crazy. And hilarious. When they do Otona Blue live Suzuka climbs the crowd barrier and dances on top of it. If you want to see a funny video Marine did a cover of Otona Blue. But she's considered an old woman. She's 30. But she always jokes that she's 17. So when she sings it it sounds like an older woman pretending to be young.
AG aren’t metal, but many metal fans (especially kawaii metal fans) LOVE them because of the energy and confidence rhey exude and their insistence on going against the grain. Their music ranges from pop to city pop to punk to rock to jazz to hip hop depending on the song. This particular song is about wanting to appear more mature when you are and was originally released in 2020 not long after Kanon (the youngest member) turned 18. They all sing but Suzuka tends to sing the most because her type of voice lends to many of the songs they make, though the other girls sing plenty as well. They recently performed at Coachella and have just started a world tour

AG! are really very versatile and funny and they even have some Jazz sounds going on (especially in their earlier stuff), like in "迷えば尊し" (one of my absolute favorites). Or Hip Hop as in their live performance "Nai Nai Nai" ("from the traincar")

glad you enjoyed it! Atarashii Gakko no Leaders (Atarashii Gakko for short) means "New School Leaders", hence the uniforms. they are all between 21-24 years old. this song does have certain sexual meaning... it's about a teenage girl who desires "adult" love even though she is still immature; she's starting to be physically mature, but not mentally or emotionally. Otona means adult, while "blue" is a word play: blue as in "blues", like adult blues, something sad; in japanese, it is pronounced as "buru", cause there's no L sound, however, buru in japanese means "pretending", meaning the girl in the song is pretending to be an adult yes, Suzuka is usually the main singer, although there are songs were the others take the lead. either way, Suzuka is the group's front-woman. not necessarily the leader (there rly isn't a leader, although they do look up to Mizyu since she's the oldest), but certainly the front-woman. she rly knows how to work a crowd! hope to see you react to more of them soon! if you prefer rock, i'd recommend "Koi Geba", "Seishun wo kirisaku hado", and "Maningen". they also performed new songs at Coachella this year which im sure you'd like! they're titled "Omakase", "Arigato", and "Forever Sisters". Arigato and Forever sisters have a more 80's jpop vibe, while Omakase has a more traditional japanese sound

After years of hard work, AG is really bursting on the World stage. OB doesn't really show off their amazing dance routines, but this vid does; kzbin.info/www/bejne/jn67iX9uoMZqm7c Avantgardy, the Japanese girl dance troup is something else to ck out. Can we say quirky?

just think it song about toddler that wearing their mom high heels with messy lipstic and make-up on their face. this song is old song that they re-created the mv. in old single's cover, it was suzuka with messy lipstic. while in new MV, there are some interesting scene, like: suzuka "popping cherry" (literally); rin smoke (chocolate) cigarette, mizyu is drunk (of milk), kanon sux lolipop.
If you liked this, you must watch their latest debuts - Omakase, Arigato, Forever Sisters from Coachela. But don't watch the official streamings! It's terrible. Watch videos from viewers where you can see the girls' amazing choreography )
