All of this training protects his voice so we can enjoy each and every song he chooses to sing. It pisses me off when "armchair critics" don't have a clue as to what the hell they are talking about. Oh yes I follow Dan Vasc and this is the song that led me to him and his amazing work. Dan has stated in the past he has one camera, he films 3 times and uses the audio from the best take. All the production is his own. So yeah he's the real deal. This 250 year old song has waited all this time for someone to put this power into it. As I sang it in church I could feel it needed this power for emphasis but certainly I was not prepared to give it what it needed. Dan Vasc has trained that voice for years and this song is the result. He has stated he is a Christian and he put this song out for Easter so it definitely has meaning for him and it shows in the whole production. He is definitely a perfectionist in the work he does and every sound, camera angle, lighting, all is intentional. I will never hear a better version of this beloved classic. The gates opening were the gates of Heaven. He led us on a journey of faith from acceptance to praise at the Throne of God. This man sings as though he were St. Michael slaying demons while praising the Almighty.

I do follow Dan and he has 3 cameras now. He records with all three running and picks the video of the one he likes the most at the time. Dan does all of the lighting, camera, vocals himself. Anything that is done by anyone other than Dan is listed on his songs. Dan does not lip sync - everything you see is being recorded as he is singing. If you are interested in reacting to other Dan Vasc song, I suggest: metal: Bring Me to Life, acoustic: Loch Lomond and opera: Night at the Opera. On top of everything else, remember that English is not Dan's native language - he is Brazilian.

This man (Dan Vasc) puts most singers to shame. He's does not lip sync. He filmed this at his home (a garage) with multiple cameras, lights, and a black screen on the wall for background. Do your homework before you start criticizing someone. He has a video explaining his decision to promote his voice on KZbin rather than spending his time on the road with corrupt the music industry. He is such a talented singer/musician and we are blessed to enjoy his voice.

I’m a huge Dan fan and I have listened to all his covers several times over. There is NOTHING he can’t sing. His range is insane! Video was done in his garage studio. I must disagree with you on one point…Dan does NOT lip sing! This statement will not go over well with Dans fans…other than that your review was good and mostly positive. Dan records his songs 3 times to get it right, he does not lip sync! Watch his throat and you can see his adams apple move with the song as well as his chest move when he's singing. He is recording this in his garage, the lighting, camera angles are all his design. Great review, except for the lip syncing.

Then I went straight to the comments knowing you would be "hearing" from some of Dan's Faithful Followers. It appears the Lip Syncing remark annoyed everyone of them, including me. I do appreciate your positive commentary and your knowledge about the technical side of making videos. Dan is the Ultimate Professional in a very exceptional way. He is completely unique as he manages 100% of his music business. He has perfected his voice for years and his "homemade" videos improve all the time. I am just cracking up, because I've read all the way down through the existing comments, on the 2nd day out for this reaction. I kind of figured that I would NOT have to say, "Dan does NOT lip sync...period!" and guess what, I do NOT need to say that! That said, I think you did an OUTSTANDING reaction, and you mentioned a lot of things that I've written down in a "book" I wrote about this performance, to a couple of reactors who were basically "dumber than doorknobs," and I don't mean they were stupid (necessarily). I think they simply didn't know what to do or say, and the whole thing honestly had them "dumbfounded." The thing that they did, though, that I didn't appreciate, was that they basically sneered, a couple of times, while making the two comments that they DID make (I think it was only two...might have been three). They were quite snide, and it did NOT set right, with me. So I wrote a commentary to them about the pure artistry Dan used, and because I already KNEW by the time I saw their reaction, that Dan has been a Christian since he was a child. You mentioned his eyes, for which I HIGHLY commend you. If you ever watch the video again (as so many of us have done, over and over again), I'd say to watch how he "speaks" the words with his eyes SO much, but also that he does not fully CLOSE his eyes, until after the harmonica (bagpipes) bridge. Once he tosses his head and goes into metal mode, his eyes begin to close, and he never opens them again, except for a brief, flickering moment at 3:25 in the video. By keeping them shut, all the way through the end of the "AHA!" he is expressing that what he SEES, is from his spiritual point of view, rather than the worldly point of view and the wonder and awe he was increasingly showing from the beginning. It's all part of the story...and one that is is own, as well as just a story for others. I was a bit surprised that you didn't evince any actual surprise about the harmonica (though you didn't mention the sound of bagpipes that might normally be heard with the sound). That's actually one of the things I was laughing about while reading through the comments. Most times, there are at least a dozen people explaining about the harmonica (which was given to him by his father when Dan was somewhere under 12 -- I've heard it was at ages 7 or 9, from others, and now have heard him actually say that it was somewhere in either his 12th or 13th year that he received his FIRST harmonica, from his dad (who has now passed away). Also, that final breath is actually held slightly longer than most people have thought, since they haven't noticed that it begins the final words, "I see..." to the very end, all the way completely through the extended, "Aha.......!" I've counted it over and over, by the perfect timing of the accompaniment, which is absolutely right on, as to a single second per beat. He grabs his last INWARD breath as he hits, "I see," and it carries him out 25 seconds to the final sound he makes before he goes utterly quiet, with his eyes still closed. Since seeing that lovely event in the "Amazing Grace" video, I've seen him actually go further, in another song, that I'm hoping you will find for yourself, and when you do, I'll be watching with...bated breath... 😀 If you'd like to see how he patterned this rendition, you can check out IL Divo's final time they sang it with Carlos Marin, in 2014, with a full orchestra...and bagpipes...

I appreciate your technical evaluation of this song with the exception of your belief that he is lip synching. Dan Vasc does NOT lip synch! You are totally WRONG on that! In all the reaction videos that I have downloaded (roughly 55 to 65 +/-) and listened to (way over 200 times), NOBODY has ever thought that he lip-synched his songs! I don't care how thoroughly singers have practised a song, if they should lip-synch, one can ALWAYS see, at some point, a slightly off part where the voice and the video don't match. ALWAYS! Dan shoots his videos in his garage. He has stated that it's always him singing his songs. In other words.... NO lip-synching! He has an absolutely AMAZING voice, tremendous "pipes", and absolute control of his voice! "Amazing Grace" REALLY showcases his incredible talent!👍😄👍

No, I have to disagree, Dan said in a video that when he sings, he sings everything live directly without having recorded it beforehand and then synchronizing it, i.e. the 1. To 1. He has several cameras and takes pick out the best excerpts from where he thinks it's best portrayed in terms of his singing. So no synchronization, no lip movement on playback.

Dan does NOT lip sync! Shame on you for even suggesting that!!! He is a consummate professional and gives his all with every performance, embodying the music. A little additional info - the harmonica was given to Dan by his father, who was also a musician but passed away a few years ago, and was the first instrument Dan learned to play. Dan's mother was an opera singer but despite this musical "pedigree" it actually took him a bit to decide to pursue music professionally. I'm delighted that he did!

In one of his explanatory videos on his channel where he described his recording process, he said that he records many times and takes the best track and adds clips from the others to sync to that particular vocal, and Jamie is right -- he does not lip sync! In a reaction by The Charismatic Voice, she explains how you can tell that this is a 'raw track' to which the other elements are added, but that it is actually sung at the time of recording. Best Amazing Grace EVER!!! And I’ve heard it many ways and at many times. Dan is phenomenal! This is the song that got me on the Dan Vasc train. I’m 73 yrs old and never liked metal growing up in the 60s and 70s. This young man has converted me. He is so good at his craft. A God given talent and a lot of hard work and you get Dan Vasc!!! My whole family and I are massive Dan fans! Not to be dramatic, but his version of this song literally pulled me from the darkness I was in. Dan will never know this, but he saved my life. Please check out more of his stuff. Sounds of Silence, Toss a Coin to Your Witcher, and Never Gonna Give You Up are some of my favorites. But Africa, Nessa Dorma, and so many more are just as amazing. There's nothing he can't do. As Dan says, have an epic day!

Dan Vasc never lipsyncs. This is all him and his great talent! When you forget yourselves and can notice his abilities, you will get the full breadth of his talent. I’m surprised that so many who react doesn’t even notice how long he holds that last breath on Amazing Grace, I’m told it’s for at least 26 seconds. You need to time it for yourself and feel blessed to hear such an amazing God given talent. 😊😊

You are an idiot to even say such a thing without knowing the artist you are talking about! I love how absolutely tender, raw & delicate he started the song even with the slight echo & with each verse exposing more talent & intensity. Dan Vasc has a God given talent that he has perfected over years of hard work into what it is today, devine & magnificent!!! He sang this song the way it was MEANT to be sung with such RESPECT, emotion & with a POWERFUL impact. I FELT the presence of GOD!!! This is the absolute very BEST version of 'Amazing Grace' that I've EVER heard in my ENTIRE life & I'm... let's just say rather experienced & refined (LOL). How about we don't call people names for being unaware of Dan's unusual recording methods? It's far more common for music videos to feature lip syncing to a prerecorded track. It doesn't make this guy an "idiot" to think Dan was using a common method to create his videos.

The only quibble with this is the lip sync comment. Check out Dawn of Victory, with Fabio Lione, and Black Wind Fire And Steel for proof of that, as well as Fighting The World, for a hilarious reaction to the lip sync accusations that have come up before. Dan doesn't need to lip sync; he's had ten years of vocal lessons. However, that mistake was your only mistake, so kudos to you for a great reaction! Keep the Dan reactions coming, and I'll keep watching. Other artists? Case by case basis.

Dan DOES NOT lip sync!!!! I agree that you owe him an apology for that. Watch him sing Nessun Dorma from Puccini’s Turandot and then tell us if you think he lip syncs. Dan is the real deal with an amazing vocal range as well as being able to sing many genres of music. Not only that but he could be on broadway……ex: his cover from Jesus Christ Super Star and Phantom of the Opera.
