I have looked at these cages and wondered how they would work to protect berry bushes from the birds. You made a great job of that one. It looks very fit for your purpose. 💕💕🌻🌻

That sounds like a perfect solution for berry bushes. You can then just walk in and pick and not have to fight the netting taking it off, putting it back on etc.

I think that it would be good for that purpose, they come in smaller sizes too.

I watch this because 100% OCD always wins‼️in my book. So the new large chicken coup has overhead cover for flying predators…I’ve seen some concerned about those that dig under??? And place something that goes underground. Great job.

I have one of these. I bought a tarp 4 metres by 6 metres and covered the whole pen. I put wind block fabric around all the sides. I found the tarp tore in the high winds we get with some of the winter storms we have and I urgently needed to cover the pen so I bought a second tarp and put it over the torn tarp. What I found by double tarping was that the wind from underneath the top tarp held the bottom tarp and they did not move as much in the wind. This year just before winter I removed the two tarps that I had on and replaced them both with new tarps. I also put in additional grommets on both tarps on all the edges and have grommets +/- 18 inches apart. Each tarp is secured to the frame separately with zip ties. So far it has worked really well and I don't worry about the tarp coming off in the storms. I loved how easy the frame was to put together, I did it by myself, that I purchased a second one. I purchased a J-clip pliers & J-clips to secure the wire instead of zip ties for the wire.

We have three of them now and use them everyday. The tarps we used were 12 mil and haven had any issues with them tearing in the wind. We replaced this blue tarp as it was too thin and too long which caught the wind.

That looks like a great place for the chickens and I really like the idea of putting another one at the other end saving having to put the wire on the base as well as using the tarp for the other half of the second one. Thanks for sharing, hope your weekend has gone well. Have a Blessed day.

The pricing was in the description, the coop was around $300, we upgraded to hardware cloth which can range between $100 - 200 (we buy it in the larger spools so we have extra), tarp was a cheaper one at Harbor Freight for $35.

I really like the hoop coops that Nate built, I think he did a terrific job on them. And this is a great idea for a coop also but it would be versatile enough to be able to grow crops in the winter if it had a clear or cloudy perspex on the roof. Great video guys. I wonder if there was some way, and if they aren’t too heavy to be able to move them around for the chooks to have fresh pasture and fertilise your ground for you?
@TheKraemerLife

This is a Coop for our free-range flock so they will only sleep in it at night. They have acres of fresh pasture throughout the day. We will add nesting boxes in it also to hopefully get them to start laying eggs where we can find them :)

The coop looks good and faster to put together. Why didnt you use the Tarp that was provided with the Coop? It looks very durable and much better quality, that will keep the temperatur down in Summer? You dont want chooks roasted alive in there! I absolutly love the gooselings, they are so adorable. You need to make friends with them more and give them names, or will most of them land on the table at Christmas? Things are coming on really nicely, there is always such a lot to do though. You must learn to chill a little Nate - guess its hard when you are not able to though. No nastyness intended. We see so much of you every day, its kind of natural to look out for your welfare.I love all the noises going on around you, its amazing how loud it all is at times lol. Same, it seems to be good quality, I considered the roofing material too. I think that would be a good option. These types of runs come with several different roof lines so there may be a different shape for your climate.

They're out of stock already! I think you just made somebody's day. So it's just a frame? Whatever you use for the walls/roof you buy separately? That makes these incredibly versatile, I'm thinking an anti-chicken shed for veggies, or a shelter for my little lambies.
@TheKraemerLife
@TheKraemerLife Жыл бұрын
It is a kit and comes with coated chicken wire to wrap it fully and a small tarp. We chose only to use the coated chicken wire it came with on the top portion and hardware cloth for the bottom portion (purchased separately)

Now everytime someone criticize's you for notfinishing a project ypu can smile and say "Remember that coop we did ? Its finished" Of course that is a vry watered down version of what you should say to them IMHO but the real version would crush all appearances of being family friendly LOL The coop frame wouldn't be very hard to use for a greenhouse, dunno how much it or a greenhouse cost but it would be worth researching just to see if maybe there was money to save.
