While many people compare Khamsin to sundowner, they're polar opposites really. Unlike Sundownder who is defensive AND offensive, Khamsin is pure offense. Sundowner upgraded his armor to have shields for defense, Khamsin's mech had no defense and had an open cockpit that left him vulnerable. Sundowner was also calculated in his movements and methods. In his boss fight he had guards and helicopters to help him and used a pole structure as a weapon while raiden was distracted. Khamsin was sloppy and caused damage whenever he attacked, so much that it obscured his vision and instead of clearing the area and observe his surroundings, he left himself open to be snuck up from behind. Sundowner was more calculated, Khamsin was impulsive

@@salsamancer Khamsin basically just acts according to what he's told, and doesn't think twice about it, even if he doesn't agree, he believes that what he's doing is for the better eitherway which in this case, he believes is the freedom of others, as, even the lyrics reflect this, as he forfeits his own, not fighting for glory or fame, but for the will of another, may it be good or bad in the grand scheme of things. Sundowner however fights only for the fun and thrill of it, seeing violence as "nature's sacrifice", in the idea that, where there is beauty, there is also cruelty with him filling in the latter, with it perhaps being him trying to justify his actions as "for the greater good" but it isn't clear if he's doing it because he's just a straight up sadist or if he believe's he's fulfilling some greater plan, perhaps both.

I love how aggressive Blade Wolfs body language is if he thinks a fight is personal. One would think that an AI that is programmed to kill would do so as effecient and in the shortest amount of time as possible, like, sawing Khamsins head off would've been enough to kill him, but Wolfy slammed his saw into Khamsin and violently tore him out of his mech. Here is the Thing: LQ-84i is a Self learning AI. He was never Build to be a Fighting AI. Acording to himself: He doesnt Posses the Killer Instinct of Man. So, he has No Desire to Kill. Even in his Missions, he only takes down The Minimum to achive his Goal. Drop 10 Guards in a Room with him and he will just, walk around and goes through the Door. He only Fights when he needs to. And even then, he can only Fight as good as he Learned himself to do so. He has No Real Combat training, only via "By the Book". Thats why he lost to Sam and Raiden, but won against Kharsim. He lost, because he Had to Fight, but Won, because he Chose to Fight.

From a logical perspective, an AI has to be built to be curious in order for it to learn. If the AI is not curious, it will never learn effectively. This is ACTUALLY a thing in artificial neural network design nowadays ; traditional "trial and error" AIs take far too long and are far too specialized to fulfill our needs. An AI who is curious can be given a generic environment and learn much more efficiently than repeatedly bashing your head against every brick in every wall, and instead having something more different than the next brick peak your interest. Logically, this means Blade Wolf is likely very capable of curiosity. After the Khamsin incident, he began questioning what freedom is, formulating the very first hypothesis he makes as a (or so he thinks) free AI, that it must be earned for oneself. This curiosity then gets shut down by Mistral, leaving freedom's true definition, and the idea of thinking for oneself, largely undefined since they had only 1 trial that resulted in failure (and therefore were now negative associations). Curiosity about freedom makes perfect sense as to why he would attempt to escape so brazenly ; it's likely the programmers who made him were skilled, but lacking in security skills, and therefore didn't think about putting limiters on how high the priority of curiosity could go, leading to the possibility for it to override even orders -- a simple mistake, one that is incredibly easy to do, just forget to type one singular line. And when Raiden and Sam bring up freedom again (++curiosity), after having beaten him (failure during the following of orders now leading to a negative connotation to following orders. Also an easy mistake to make, since all you need to do is forget to condition orders to not be lowered in priority due to one failure. Also, one single line missed... amongst literal billions). So this isn't actually a feel good story, there is actually a clear logic behind how blade wolf acts.

@@thetheory6159 A thing I would like to add, judging by the timeline between Jetstream Sam’s first appearance to Raiden and Sam’s first appearance to Blade Wolf, Jetstream Sam is likely Blade Wolf’s first exposure to the idea of “true freedom.” To fight for something that you want to, rather than fight something you were ordered to. Since Jetstream Sam was recruited (before mortally injuring Raiden), and once Raiden got a new makeover (before encountering Blade Wolf), it was likely that Blade Wolf pondered this idea for the days between these events, an untold amount of time of obeying and simultaneously wondering, before ultimately culminating with the incident that killed Khamsin, someone who fought something because he was ordered to.

I think its mainly the fact he begs before dying, the others go out with dignity and a sense of honor. He's a small and pitiful man. It's like getting a personal battle with the random footsoldiers Raiden kills 10 of a second. You see what he's feeling, his brainwashing telling him he's doing this for a just reason, so he really has a reason to fight and not want to lose. Ultimately, I'd say Mistral, Armstrong, or maybe Monsoon had more brutal deaths, but their acceptance of death and how less pitiable they are made it feel less brutal and sad.

At least he's a different boss this time, unlike Sam's DLC. However, I have a feeling he was cut from the final release of the game and used later as DLC. The reason being that the song in the background isn't a new song, like we were told it was. It was on the Vocal Tracks that was released the same day as the game. And given how the lyrics reflect who each boss is, that means he was created BEFORE the DLC. Either way, he's a great boss, but I do agree he was a bit like Sundowner.

I've always loved the message and themes of khamsin, as someone born in America, I've always had pro American products and culture in my day to day life, but I've never been particularly patriotic, of course I can appreciate the opportunities I have as an American citizen, and that I live in such a relatively safe place, but I have recognized for a while we're not perfect, far from it, and seeing a character who is an American soldier, so deeply entrenched in the idea that we are number one and better than any country, is an incredible look at us as a whole, especially how, in his mind he's the good guy, I think of "no I can't lose!" As a very simple commentary on the U.S being very egotistical and thinking everyone should be like us

From what I understand he was designed after the other winds of destruction in terms of visuals, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was intentional. Do the lyrics have a special trigger or do they only appear during the finale of the fight? Most bosses in the game have their lyrics come in around 50 or 60% health remaining, but some have special triggers, for instance the Sundowner fight where you need to remove all his shields or you won't get any lyrics.

@@misterchief3338 Monsoon actually has two, the first one I think is after destroying one of his circles of garbage and dropping down from the building, but whatever it is it can be avoided like with Sundowner. Then when he gets to 10% it starts at a specific point for you to finish him as he picks up the obelisk to throw at you. I'm not sure how, but I went through the boss fight once without triggering the lyrics till the end, I think it depends on how you handle certain attacks.

I mean he does have some lore, heres some i found on a website “Jarren Williams A.K.A Khamsin was a Cyborg involved with the Desperado PMC During the Abzkhia Wars in 2018, Jarren was born in 1970 in Washington D.C and Enlisted in the Marines when he was 18, he served in a the Gulf War when he was 21 and looked forward to the success of Operation Desert Sabre, due to his lack of flexibility and disastrous personality lead to his discharge during the war, after that he become a Private Contractor and used most of his Income to turn himself into a Large cyborg with a chainsaw mechanist type battle axe.” This is basically his entire lore but

There's very much talk about Khamsin death,but I know the real reason for Mistral to kill Khamsin. It's very expensive to build a separate toilet of THIS size.
