Also, if you show the military in a good light in your project than most if not all military branches (looking at you especially navy) will actually give you help developing your movie/game/etc by allowing you access to different physical and virtual military assets to aid you. They do this because it not only makes them look better but is proven to boost enlistment numbers. There's a particular beauty in that this song is not a celebration of the character associated with it, but instead a dirge. This is not a triumphant battle theme like Jetstream Sam or Monsoon, but instead a complete and utter deconstruction of Khamsin as a pathetic, servile individual. This is not the battle anthem of a warrior, this is the song of a man who has committed unspeakable evil for reasons he can't even name, completely suckered in by years of propaganda, and he's about to die for it. This is him explaining his life to his killer, not boasting of his prowess. He was a nameless, faceless goon enacting the whims of empire, he was told he was fighting for peace or justice when all he did was butcher innocents so the rich could get richer. Khamsin was someone sucked into the military-industrial complex and turned into a monster, whereas someone like Sundowner or Monsoon ALWAYS had that evil inside of them and simply had a chance to indulge in it.

Both Sam and Raiden had the same goal (In the end I realize, you are just like me) Raiden and Armstrong don't exactly connect on many points on how to change the world. Facing Sam, and in the end, using Sam's blade against Armstrong made him truly recognize his path (Violence breeds violence). "It has to be this way" references the fight itself. The two never needed to fight, as they had the same purpose in this conflict, kill Armstrong. The final line in the song, "Yet I feel new life will be born beneath the bloodstained sand". Not only that. For example, how much do we know what happened to e.g. WW1 or WW2 soldiers right after these wars ended¹, or what happens to corpses of all the soldiers that died in the battlefield²? Exactly. We know nothing about them, since soldier is only known as long as the battle is on. ¹WW1 veterans have been simply ignored by governments of their countries, so small group of extremely lucky ones, who managed to survive this massacre without any serious wounds, were able to return to their murderous fabrics and kill themselves there yet again, with family telling them to ,,man up". The entire rest would just be thrown to the streets, abandoned by society and their family, living a life of a beggar. Oh, wait - that's the best outcome. In most countries, e.g. in Germany, they felt betrayed and joined extremist far-right organisations, where they started fighting new wars on their own, this time with Communists. As for WW2 veterans, many of them suffered severe PTSD, sometimes even addiction, and became just brutal people, which took its toll on their children. This new generation will create, as it will be known, ,,Golden age of serial killers" in USA. ²It depends on the war. Usually, after it ended, a special group of people came there to take the bodies and give it a proper burial. During WW1, however, it wasn't possible, so majority of them still remains in Poland and France, still waiting for proper burial.

Probably the only guy who really embodies a Wind of Destruction to me unlike any other characters in the game. Khamsin isn't really mentioned or remembered by any of the main characters in the story. He's just a soldier fighting for something he doesn't believe in, a man blinded by all of the propaganda. He is truly a Wind of Destruction, fleeting.

I'd like to think this song represents Khamsin's thinking. He probably thinks he's one of the main winds of destruction, but in reality he's nothing more than a pawn. All the main enemies from the main game came around to Armstrong's thinking and compared it to their own ideals, while Khamsin was basically bought into Armstrong's speech of freedom and one's own destiny. This is why Mistral wanted to kill him cause She basically saw him as another soldier without his own thoughts and was basically bored, knowing full well that no one would miss him within the main winds of destruction.

Something I noticed - 0:45 has an incredibly similar chord progression to Collective Consciousness. As this song goes "Heat of the desert, dust settles on my face" in the background, you can hear "The Unenlightened Masses, they cannot make the judgement call." As Khamsin was a mere tool of Armstrong, with little identity of his own - not much different from Excelsus, a mere vehicle - it's pretty apt that this was added in.

with a shit eating grin like sam's, there's literally no way he could be faceless so i propose: Dirty and faceless - Monsoon Waiting to heed your instruction - Sundowner On my own - Sam Invisible warrior - Mistral

It's kinda nuts how every boss theme in this game actually hits really hard, even outside of the context of the game.

I'd like to take a moment to compare all the boss theme's messages. Rules of Nature: "It's kill or be killed. But who's the predator and who's the prey?" I'm My Own Master Now: "I'm My Own Master Now." A Stranger I Remain: "I'm happy." Stains of Time: "I'm sad." Red Sun: "The apocalypse is beautiful." The Only Thing I Know For Real: "Who am I?" Collective Consciousness: "I will create a mindless paradise." It Has To Be This Way: "We aren't so different, you and I. Also I'm hopeful." The Hot Wind Blowing: "The only way I, as a soldier, can justify all the death and destruction I create is to give all of myself- mind, body, soul, even my individuality- to a greater power to fulfill their goals, and fully believe in their vision. Only then, when you have absolved yourself of all responsibility, can you find true freedom." (Of course I'm exaggerating for comedic effect, but I hope you get my point here.)
