I do not understand why is there preferance for MGR over DMC5. While metal gear rising is an older game that is true, it is just not objectively better as a game and an unfair comparison, id rather see a DMC4 vs MGR instead. But in all honesty i believe DMC is a much more content packed and more complex game than MGR can be, i wish they expanded more over MGR and made a sequel with a more refined combat simillar to NieR or DMC with more smooth weapon swapping, combos and mobility. And i would believe that in a more even comparison between DMC4 or MGR, i would still believe DMC4 would win in most overall things maybe just except story though.. since i find MGR to have a much more compelling story than DMC4, but more lacking lore than DMC as a whole, since MGR is mostly counted as a spin off of the original games.

@@tempestbrown5033 it helps that DMC is a way older franchise :D But still I prefer Nioh's combat since you're more mobile, lock-on is better, dedicated run and dodge button, and the stance system is just chef's kiss. Not to mention that each weapon is a game of its own, with several moves, unique quirks, and ways to play with. Only the Devil Trigger beats the Nioh equivalents (living weapon and yokai shift in the second game) by a landslide :)

@@wallacesousuke1433 don't get me wrong, Nioh has the best combat for the souls-like genre but I really disagree about its gameplay crushing DMC and a few gameplay points you made. They're very different playing action games with very different focuses on what makes them compelling. Nioh has a more focus of back and forth enemy engagement while managing stamina regaines (at its core). DMC is about giving the player as much creative freedom and systems to build their own style of handling enemies despite the enemies themselves not being very engaging. Sometimes it's not even about beating the game on the highest difficulty but how much crazy tech you can find. DMC4 is a literal combat sandbox due to how its physics work. Very different styles of combat at the end the day.

Metal Gear Rising game is weak in the slasher genre. It has a lot of unnecessary features, such as chopping to pieces ... it's kind of good, but for the gameplay this plays a small role. There are almost no combat combinations, forget it... and not a small part of the game has cut scenes with QTE. Why even hide in a box in this genre of slasher? But just as a slasher game, DMC5 is better. It would be funny to compare DMC5 and some kind of MGR. DMC4 came out back in 2008 and it looks even better than the same MGR 2013, and in terms of: plot, graphics, combat combinations. Cut-scenes in MGR reduce the participation of the player himself in the gameplay, instead of coming up with combinations, parrying blows, memorizing patterns ... The game prompts you to press the buttons that are shown on the screen. For such a genre - this is a big juicy minus. Sorry for my English

Blade Mode is a cool feature, that basically no other game has. Despite being fun, it is actually pretty useful and serves a gameplay purpose to heal, fill your special bar, and strategically cut enemy limbs to weaken them.
