Two NAMM's ago by total chance I ended up at an artist dinner where I met Jason Charles Miller. I remember telling him about what I did, originally kind of apprehensive, but then he went on to tell me all the stuff he worked on from singing this song to doing voices in Final Fantasy XIV and more! I was floored and we knew we had to do something together since finding other video game industry people at events like that felt so rare! I asked him if he would want to do this song even though he was the original singer and he was delighted to.
My main goal with this arrangement was to recreate a lot of the synth stuff with guitar, without losing the punch the original has. I also wanted to push Jason's vocals a bit forward to really feature him since they came out so good. I also did my own few vocal lines for this! Metal Gear Rising Revengence was an important game for me as I'm a die hard Metal Gear fan and have ALWAYS been a huge fan of Raiden even since MGS2. I loved this track and the game so so much so it's a huge honor to get to recreate it with the original singer!
I might have gone a liiiiitle crazy with video edits on this but I had SO much fun with it!

Always love seeing Revengeance covers! Thanks for this, but I've yet to see Hot Wind Blowing get any love yet, perhaps you could consider that next? Though I know you rarely do covers with lyrics. But if that's not a problem, have you considered doing the song Hard Times? It's the full version of Ice Cap Zone from Sonic 3, and it's a previously unreleased Jetzons song (it's not coincidence, the composer of Ice Cap Zone was the same, he used it because it was never going to be released as a Jetzons song. But then in 2008 or so, the record label released it to youtube not knowing of its significance to gaming history). It's literally just studio quality Ice Cap but with lyrics, and I think it's such a cool find that a lot of people aren't aware of. You could be the first to do a cover of it that I'm aware of too!

This was unexpected. Revengeance is one of my favourite games of all time. It's cool that it's the original vocalist. I do think it sounds kinda weird since it's missing some of the layers/sounds that the original has.

Seriously I can't get over the production of this video. The song is fantastic, this version takes it to another level. But how the video is produced, the effects, Miller's performance and presence, how Jules's screaming is worked sort of into the background, the cuts, the editing... it's the most metal video you've done and it's not even close. I used to play an MMO called Rift. In Rift there are overworld, raid style, events where people just form up on one location and fight waves of enemies. One of these events was a special one that actually needed to be completed to get the full map of the zone. There was a sick part at the end where the giant monster broke through the wall to that last section of the zone and you had to get up on these platforms and use these giant rail guns to shoot it and if it got stunned you had a quick opportunity to get in a good hit by jumping on its head when prompted. When I raided this one with my guild, I would play this song during that phase because it was so fitting. It absolutely felt like that first boss fight.

Man, I've been listening to so much of your stuff Jules, can't believe you actually got Jason for this cover. I know they're not popular series, and you might not know of them, but The Legend of Heroes: Trails and Ys series from Nihon Falcom have some INSANE rock and metal tracks, that I think you'd have a blast tackling. If you ever get the chance to look into it, Belief or Exceed from Trails of Cold Steel and Steeling the Will to Fight from Ys: The Oath in Felghana are a few tracks that I think you would have a blast shredding. You rock man!
