The thing is the Bluepoint version is just better because they updated areas you may not even realise. Like higher detailed models for the soldiers. I distinctly remember the soles of the guards boots just being a flat texture that looked like it was drawn with a pencil. In the Bluepoint version the boots are actually a detailed model with the bottom of the boots actually shaped properly and not just flat with a texture to look like the bottom of a boot from a distance. Next time you're trying both versions of MGS2 knock out a guard and have a look at them on the floor. I think they may have done the same for the eyes too.

GOG includes fan-patches in the bare-bone PC ports? I hope they remember to put it back into MGS2... and include the Enhanced Edition mod for Silent Hill 2 if they bring that game over to their platform.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't, but on their forum for the game they'll have a sticky with a link to the fix. I don't remember why they don't, but sometimes they just don't. FEAR needs some mouse input fix file otherwise your FPS tanks. It's not bundled with the install, but they have it stickied in the forum and tell everyone to download it.

Thank you so much for this link to the patch. I actually have the original pc port and played it on my old laptop and then got a new one without a disc drive and the gog port was like the perfect substitute. I’m just happy to be reassured that the fix will work with the gog version.

I mostly do use Widescreen cutscenes which means, remove letterboxes to make it like HD Edition, but not like HD Edition ebcause of certain in game scenes such as Olga vs Snake while battle and etc.

Here is a little update mgs2 is no longer on gog due to Konami not wanting to renew the rights to the war footage used in mgs2, so now you either have to "borrow" it or get a physical copy now

I made a GOG account just for Silent Hill 4 and this game, I already downloaded the PC versions of SH 2 and 3. Also I use an emulator for the original Metal Gear solid because I don't think there's fixing the PC port of MGS1

I had both the PS1 and PC versions when they were both new. And to be totally honest...first time players need to just play the PS1 version. There are MANY ways to play it (PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, Vita, PSTV, and emulation) The PC version is the one you play to make fun of or to blast through quickly. The game is definitely gimped but not as bad as the Silent Hill HD Collection. Although the PC version has some dookie visual and audio.

It has been playable in Win10 since 2015 thanks to community patches and emulators. So just play your original copy on that instead of giving GOG (And Konami) money, save it for the MGS remake

To be honest, the port isn't that good to begin with, until you have a very poor PC, seriously, the best way to play it on PC is still using emulators.

@@RedFlameFox it not that cheap every where i watched a video about mgs 2 which states that the pc version have some missing effects and the hd collection to get the experience the game really gives is to use a ps 2 emulator so i thought it should be fine but when i opened the game it was running fine with 1080p 60 fps until like 15 minutes it dropped to like 20-25 and the sound is like gzzzz.........bzzzz....... And the same happens for cutscenes

How do you get into the settings on MGS 2 to change the resolution + controller settings?

There should be directions in the link I put in the description on where to get the patch, it’s inside the file you install. When you open the zip file and drag it to the MGS2 bin folder, launch the “MGS2SSetup.exe” and you should see the option I demonstrated in the video. You can click on the letters/numbers directly to change the resolution. Hope this helps! If you get lost in the process, just be sure to read the steps on the link carefully, it’s very user friendly

@@BodegaBelmont --- Heck, even the 2003 pc port was better than the current PC port. Why? Because the 2003 pc port did have some good optimization while the new PC port has terrible optimization. I remember playing the 2003 pc port about two decades ago. I used a 750 MHz Pentium III processor with Windows 2000, Nvidia Geforce MX 400 64 mb video card, a DVD drive, Direct X 9 and 256 mb ram and I put it on the lowest settings. MGS2 barely played on that computer (12-15 fps average). The 2003 PC port technically requires an 800 MHz Pentium III processor, but it is possible to play that game with a slightly weaker Pentium III. Just make sure you have the right operating system, at least a 64 mb video card like mine, a DVD drive and 256 mb ram and just enough hard disk space (you need at least 5 gigabytes [7.5 gigabytes recommended]) and put it on lowest settings and you can play MGS2 on the 2003 PC port. However, both the 2003 pc port and the new PC ports have terrible sound quality and controls, bugs and can crash from time to time. That said, I prefer playing MGS2 on PS2 or XBOX or better (e.g., PS3 or XBOX 360). P.S. MGS1 worked like a charm on that computer except for the Psycho Mantis boss fight.

Yeeaaahhh I discovered about a week after this video released, and I was like “DID I CAUSE THIS? LOL” That PC release uses a patched version, so it’s already fixed surprisingly- I bought and completed it. I’m still very sad 2 and 3 aren’t on there though, those are the best ones.

I really wanna see mgs on switch. I really think mgs should be on Nintendo platforms more since hes in smash and it would be cool. I think the HD collection would be great on switch and as an added bonus, they could also include an HD version of The Twin Snakes (YES I LOVED TTS AND THINK ITS REALLY GOOD, FIGHT ME) in it as well exclusively for the switch version. Kinda like how the switch version of the DOOM Slayers Collection includes DOOM 64.

Also I may be kinda biased bc it's one of the only games on a Nintendo platform and I just think that if a character is in smash then at least some of their games should be on Nintendo platforms. This may sound stupid, but idk. It just bothers me. I also feel the same way about MGS3 on the 3DS. And also I actually think it's the best version bc of the better controls. Crouch walking simply should have just been available from the beginning lmao. And I honestly dont care about graphics that much tbh. B) Metal Gear started on Nintendo and C) They haven't been ported to a Nintendo system that can actually play them well after the MGS remake on GameCube which is still stranded there. The only other port was the 15FPS version of MGS 3. Also, MGS outside of 5 does not have a PS4 version. PSnow doesn't count. Also, MGS4 is Stranded on PS3.

Probably not, unfortunately, GOG made it easier for Konami since it’s a site that usually has older games and can be downloaded by itself without having to download another program (DRM Free) I think Konami has no interest bringing this or the other games to Steam. BUT you can make it launch through Steam using the whole “add a non-Steam game” feature

@@kolakhan1795 no, it’ll only add there as a shortcut, so you could launch it from your Steam library as long as you have the files installed- but it won’t save to your account. Your friends will also be able to see you play it too, while listed as a “non-Steam game” and the title.
