This is one of my favorite codec calls in the series, so I wanted to isolate this specific moment.
I might upload my own recording of it from the HD re-release of the game at some point in the future.

I feel like a lot of people in the comments are focusing a lot on the surface of this scene (a girl seemingly scolding her boyfriend) and not what makes this moment so impactful: This insight into Raiden's civilian life makes you realize that you have no idea who this guy is. Typically when playing a game we build up our own perceptions of who the character we play as is, what his personality is, what he does, what his routine or life might be like, and in doing so we identify with them more. As a character who serves as a proxy to the player (and due to him turning his back towards everything he doesn't like or that doesn't immediately reaffirm his worldviews) Rose's account of what happened comes as much of a surprise to us as it is does to him. When playing through the game, this scene suddenly completely shatters any perception or ideas you've made in your head about who Raiden was up until this point. Raiden wanting to avoid the conversation by excusing himself saying he's on a mission is not actually him caring about performing his tasks efficiently, but is in fact him desperately wanting to avoid facing reality, much as someone might play games for escapism.

It's pretty interesting how the player also wants the conversation to pass, so they can continue playing the game much like how Raiden wants to brush the conversation off to continue the mission. Given the situation the player is in, you might even gloss over the fact that the topic is unrelated to what is currently going on and you might even attribute Rose as being hysterical. Only when you really think about it more after the fact, you realize Raiden is a huge weirdo that's actually less relatable than you think.

Just realized that Raiden's room being only purpose built with no personality or individuality is contributed by the fact he was raised as a child soldier and can't adjust well to just living normally without actually fighting anyone.

i mean, one of the game’s main themes is deception. everyone lies to raiden, including raiden himself. rose and, by extension, her relationship with raiden is a representation of the game’s themes. she’s not just some naggy girlfriend.

Honestly by saying this we see how much you know raiden, raiden acts out alot but he NEVER hurts someone who he loves, mgr raiden almost lost it simply because wolfy didnt shake his hand, however snake more than pissed raiden off in mt4 and raiden didnt even raise a hand to him, raiden only hurts enemies, the most he'd do is ALMOST hit you but miss on purpose or hit everything AROUND you

Generally a room tends to show you a bit about someone’s personality. If you do that by choice then that’s a-ok, clearly you’re just someone with different priorities than decorating a bedroom but if you’re struggling to understand how someone thinks and they’re super secretive about what their room is like you’d expect there to be something, right? If there’s just nothing then clearly that nothing is the secret. In this context it reflects Raiden’s upbringing. No fun. No individuality. Just waiting for the next mission in a dark and empty room.
