You can absolutely do that with the Wormhole as well, I'm just using the balloons so I wasn't able to cheese with indoor/obstructed/flawless extractions.

And considering your call for potential challenge runs, would you ever consider a Jarhead run? Probably with a Nuzlocke like ruleset (maybe a limit of one fulton -> playable staff per area (i.e. 1 per village, 1 per checkpoint)) or maybe with a strict GMP/deployment limit. Either way, as long as it's high quality and provides us with a treat, we'll watch it. But seriously, I would love a full game Jarhead run. I don't know if you want to add your own spice to it (No HUD? No Reflex? DK Bongos only?), but a start-to-finish, strapped-for-GMP kind of challenge would be fun. I wonder if it's even possible to get S ranks or get all of the bonus objectives done. I'm not a tough enough dude to save the Presi- I mean to do that.

Alternatively, if you're interested in other games, perhaps trying to stealth through GTA V's story? I have no idea if that's feasible considering the AI, but who knows.

Sorry, I'm just noticing this middle comment right now. For the sake of variety, I'll have to do something other than Metal Gear next (discounting my usual GTA Online videos). And I've got something specific in mind that wouldn't be so much a "challenge" run, but rather a restriction on 2/3 of the gameplay at my disposal - which would be a perfect springboard for the rest of the franchise. When it comes to MGSV, I've got to admit, I never looked into Jarhead properly until earlier this year after I completed every mission for this run... and I never realised minus the loadout, this had similarities with the no Reflex, no HUD rules. But speaking of Presidents...

Now I regret cutting the Camo tutorial segment from Episode 1. In short; crawling through grass, in shadow, at night, will give you a huge boost to the hidden camo rating the game has.

Considering how much the boss emphasizes the importance of camouflage i think it would be ok for her to use as well, although the sneaking suits are amazing due to not making noise

Also the fact her sneaking suit is white seems to suggest she knew her and snakes final battle would be where it was, where it would be the best source of camouflage.

Funny thing about camouflage; I did record a 3 minute segment in Episode 1 (during the truck ride) where I covered the camo system in MGSV - which I cut for time/flow, but I kinda regret cutting for context. Because it dictated a lot of my movement on a beat-by-beat basis, almost awkwardly sticking to the shadows.

Sokolov is extracted via chopper in mgs3, same as chico and paz in gz, so, I thought your extracting method was always going to be chopper. Fulton sounds more BB imo

I was considering that, even during Episode 3. But when I realised just how many prisoners I'd sometimes have to rescue, along with having Fulton everything else anyway - animals, vehicles, containers - I felt as long as I was using Balloons and not the Wormhole, that would be an acceptable middle ground.

wasnt the game anniversary actually last month? dec 16 is only the japanese release, the game was firstly launched nov 17 in america, but i barely saw anyone talking about the games 20th anniversary until yeasterday, why did no one celebrated last month?/gen

You are absolutely correct. It released in America on November 17th, but Konami tend to treat the date it released in Japan as the date to celebrate, December 16th. Worse for Europe and Austrailia, they didn't get it until the 4th & 17th March of 2005. I myself never actually learned this until I missed the Nov 17th target date. Life got in the way, and getting it up on Dec 16th was a fallback plan I made up and only met by the skin of my teeth.

Had you been on PC, you could have used the exact same weapons as in mgs3 (using mods)

Indeed, it astounds me an actual Patriot never made it into MGSV, not even as an FOB Event Weapon. I wouldn't mind dabbling with cosmetic mods, just to get an aesthetic nudge for the sake of a video such as this. Though, I hope it's seen as a major plus when creating challenge run vids such as this using the vanilla game. Any non-PC players who watch and maybe want to give it a shot themselves aren't "left out" so to speak, or forced to settle for the best the devs could offer.

Can you beat Phantom Pain as MGS2 Raiden? Skin not allowed and must be look close enough as you did here, since Snake did help fight a jet in MGS2 the helicopter can be called in for support and the rest I leave to the people who know more about MGS than me

I doubt I'd do that one. Given MGS2's arsenal is already very similar to MGS1, I feel I'd be retreading familiar ground there having already done a MGS1 Snake run. There is another MGS2-centric run I've thought about however. But, thank you for the suggestion.

I'm confused, what was so game changing in the last mission where the bonus points only affect No Kills. I didn't understand, sorry

Throughout the entire run up to that point, I thought that every kill would be a points deduction. Because I thought that was the case; I was trying to do a No Kills run of Ep45. After countless attempts I finally got it done after 30 minutes... but the enemies were getting killed by their own tanks which negated the No Kills & Perfect Stealth bonuses, and combined with how long it took I was only getting A Rank. Side-note, there is a stealth mechanic to Ep45. Every enemy will focus their fire at your last known position - so if you sneak away, then get see elsewhere even for a frame, every enemy will shift their focus to your new location. So with No Kills essentailly off the table (at this point realising there's no deduction for every kill), I looked into the Time Bonuses. Getting it done in under 20 minutes with no deaths is pretty much good enough for S Rank. Meaning, if I went aggressive and wiped out the infantry in seconds, that would serious save time leaving no one running around that could spot me sneaking behind and up to the tanks to Fulton out.

Why did you use an A++ staff member instead of an S or higher ranked one? Just curious.

Primarily, I knew where to find Blonde Female staff members (Episode 23), and she was the first blonde one I had on hand. Secondly, just so that her health was as close to Venom's as possible. I forgot to mention, Pouncing Harrier has both the Distinguished Service for completeing 3 missions & the Medal of Honor for killing an FOB Intruder - Female Staff can't be awarded the Service Cross legit. Nothing to stop anyone using higher grade troops if you like. She may have been A++, but she did have a naturally higher Combat skill than Venom Snake, even before the boost from the medals.

It was in the base game, before Grades 7-12 were added - the only way to unlock it then was by developing the Grade 5 AM MRS-4LS. Alternatively, you can also unlock it by developing the Grade 7 AM MRS-4R.

I've played the one single save file for well over 2000 hours. It causes some serious glitching for that stat on the mission complete screen.
