The Graveyard was my first KD album, in a cassete copy format, and it's one of my favourites, the story is original and creepy, the 2 first tracks are up there to the best KD ever did... and some other standouts, his 90's best I'd say

I remember seeing King Diamond on the Abigail tour. The "white metal" band Trouble opened for them here in Denver and was really outstanding and professional. After their set, the crowd started chanting "Satan! Satan! Satan!" and kept it up for a long time until King Diamond took the stage. He had a cool theatrical show back then. He had the goat skull's horns wrapped in flash paper which burst into flames. He also had flash paper on the back of his black cape which was put into a shape so that when ignited it made an upside cross of fire. If you were up close you could feel the heat from those pyros. I saw just about all the main touring acts in 1984-1990 and nobody was half as memorable as this guy.

Holy shit man, thanks for reminding me of Trouble. Time to go through boxes of cassette tapes. I worked at a new and used music shop in Wichita Ks back in my teens . My dad wasnt a metalhead by any stretch of the imagination. He was a cabaret singer (bloody good one at that). Whilst i hated music in the 70/80s my dad had 3 albums which changed my life forever Motorhead No sleep til hammersmith, Cooper Schools out, Sabbath - Sabbath. Which i listened to sneakily every time i was on my own (i was 11/12 at the time (mid 70s). Then in high school i was introduced to saxon maiden and priest. My 1st gig was saxon 1982 at Glasgow Apollo and my life was complete then later i found the thrash movement in early 80s and The fate King Daimond is a total Legend in metal world. I will be watching more of your channel from this point forward. Keep it metal 🤘🤘

The first time I got to see him was in the DC area on a tour supporting Slayer. It was an awesome show but King's set was only around 45 to 50 minutes so I was left wanting more. Fortunately I had that opportunity to satiate my cravings the following year when I saw the Abigail 2015 tour in Atlanta GA at the Tabernacle. I attended in full KD makeup. @@JarJarBinks4ever "Interesting how the King Diamond falsettos can be easier for some poeple" Yup... Like for King Diamond himself. His non-falsetto isn't that tonal... for a reason. It's generally easier to lock and hold (maintain finetune over time) high pitches compared to low.

The man is a beast; he did a tour that included BOTH Merciful Fate and King Diamond, so he did two sets every night!!! However, the best concert I’ve seen from King Diamond was in 1990; the best lineup (except, that Mikkey Dee had just left the band, which I was really sad about, since he was my favorite metal drummer and perfect for King Diamond. However Snowy did a great job replacing him.) and they played the Them/Conspiracy story almost entirely. Singing was superb, playing was superb, and the whole fucking show was superb! King Diamond is a legend I seen him at the last Metal mayhem Metal mulisha in Tinley Park Illinois I think it was 2015 I believe he didn't have any makeup on because he had a eye infection and it was my first time seeing him on stage so I didn't get to see him with the makeup on but I knew it was him by his voice. It was still a kick ass concert . I've been a King Diamond fan since I was 5 years old 1985

I just found this channel last week, mainly thanks to Ramones mythos. I instantly loved your videos. You are literally the Heavy Metal Spoony. Your personality and mannerisms are exactly what made Spoony so popular long ago. Im just curious if others have made that comparison or by chance were you also a fan of his glory years. Either way, videos like this are pure gold. Thank you.

EDIT 11/5/20 King and company King or Fate have been incredible. Even when King was VERY sick in the 1990s every album had VERY good hits on it. Will continue to update this. The OP does us all a great service. Love him or hate him King has the greatest falsetto I still have ever heard. It took me nearly 30 YEARS to catch him live but finally saw him with Fate in Washington DC. It still blows me away that he actually sounds better LIVE than on media. It was a sell out crowd and one of the best shows I have ever seen. They sounded beyond perfect. Pro Tools is weak sauce. I really wish so many great acts that water their sound down with it would stop. RIP Timi Hansen

Agreed, The Puppet Master is one of my favorite King Diamond albums. It's the perfect blend of a compelling, tragic story of cursed love and heart-pounding music with some nice experimental departures from the usual fare like 'Emerencia'. Then in the vein of 'No Presents for Christmas', we get another holiday standard with 'The Little Drummer Boy'. 'The Puppet Master' ranks among King Diamond's best, imo.

"The Eye" was my favorite King Diamond album. "Them" #2 and "Conspiracy" #3. It was a great time to be a metal fan back then. All the now classics were brand new. I still remember putting a tape in the deck and pouring through the album sleeve, reading the lyrics as every song played, looking at the artwork (I really loved Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Death, Obituary, and most Death Metal bands for the artwork), and reading the liner notes (the thank yous and what not).

King Diamond and Mercyful Fate are so legendary, there overlooked by many that like Metal but his talent and the bands are unquestionable. I was a teenager in the late 80s and listen to all the heavy groups of that era but I never got into KD and MF. Seeing the, Don't Break The Oath, album cover on here took me back 20 years to a high school art project I did where I created the cover for a fictional magazine. My magazine was Road Runner Magazine with artwork from bands I liked under the Road Runner label. I put some Slipknot stuff on there, Soulfly, and of course the image from Don't Break The Oath. I'm pretty sure my teacher thought I was crazy but I got an A. Such a bad ass album.
