🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are porous materials with various applications, resembling structures found in nature such as lungs, bones, egg shells, and butterfly wings. MOFs have different pore sizes categorized as micropores (less than 2 nanometers), mesopores (2 to 50 nanometers), and macropores (beyond 50 nanometers). MOFs are synthesized by combining metal systems and organic linkers to form extended networks, offering flexibility in design by changing metal and linker components. Key features of MOFs include high surface area, large pores enabling guest molecule diffusion, high stability, flexibility in design, and electrochemical activity. Example MOF (MIL-100) boasts a surface area of 7000 square meters per gram, illustrating their exceptional surface area compared to common structures like football fields. Synthesis of MOFs involves mixing metal and linker components followed by crystallization and structural analysis using techniques like transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Various applications of MOFs include catalysis, gas storage, chemical sensing, gas separation, drug delivery, and biomedical imaging, showcasing their versatility and potential in different fields. MOFs can encapsulate drug molecules for controlled release, target specific cells such as tumor cells, and mimic enzyme pockets for catalytic reactions. MOFs demonstrate color change when encapsulating substances like iodine or turmeric, illustrating their potential for drug delivery systems and experimental applications. Made with HARPA AI

Thank you for the presentation. Question..... To calculate the area of a Football field with 1 gram...... Are you simply counting the number spheres and multiplying by the Surface area of a each Spere within a MOF ? If so, how critical is that calculation for time release medical purposes? Thanks for any feedback. .

i thought when you showed the stadium, that you were demonstrating the convoluted nature of the MOFs, but if you simply compare the footprint of the stadium to compare that to the surface area of a mof structure, i feel like you should measure the surface of each seat and basically measure the entire surface area inside the stadium, it probably would be more comparable to the mof than just its footprint
