@Steve M Hi Steve ... frankly, I didn’t know as much about sound and EQ as I did for my Mannic Distortion album . Michael Wagner taught me about mixing one day at lunch.... for Sleight Of Hand, I hand a Marshall I used for rhythms and a Music Man I used for solos... This album has a lot of mid-range... too much mid-range really... it was like start the tape and let me blow ...

I played the heck out of that. It was in my car cassette deck for a long time! I even got a few friends into it. (Clusterphuck seemed to go over well!) 100% interested in any back stories you have...quick story! I was a hospital cafeteria dishwasher on the weekends during high school. I met a guy who worked at the hospital who enjoyed music. We would always talk about music and how we enjoy musicians like Joe Satriani among others for example. He asked me if I ever heard of Guy Mann Dude. I had no idea. He gave me his copy of the CD and said it was too metal for him. Lol, I still listen to him today. Ever sense internet was a thing with easy access, I would try to look up Guy Mann Dude to see if anything new was happening. That's how I found this video.

Great to see you're still making music Guy, I remember your column in guitar school magazine. You mentioned that Ollie halsall from the band patto was an influence on your playing. I think he was an excellent guitarist, probably ten years ahead of everyone else and a big influence on my playing too. I read somewhere you were trying to contact Ollie for an interview before he sadly passed away. Would be great if you did as he didn't do many interviews and they ones he did he didn't talk much about playing and technique.

He had an awesome stage name , right up there with Amir Derakh (Rough Cutt I'm here to rock) I vaguely remember hearing some of the debut album. He was on MCA Records and MCA did not do much to promote any of their acts (Lillian Axe, Spread Eagle, Law and Order, Jetboy, the list is pretty long of bands that died on that label) This is a good subject for a "metal school" video. I totally had forgotten about his contribution to that SHOCKER soundtrack.

Rudy Sarzo was a member of Quiet Riot ( never recorded) , Ozzy Osbourne ( never recorded), Whitesnake ( never recorded) , but people who didn't see those bands on tour can checkout Rudy Sarzo's Bass playing on Guy Mann Dude's short lived supergroup that provided a song for the blockbuster smash hit movie Shocker . Here's some lesser known facts about Guy Mann-Dude, he studied guitar with Michael Angelo Batio in the 80's. He did great guitar work on singer Robin Beck's first album. And also, another top notch talent Jean Beauvoir contributed back vocal work in Shocker track.

Good Guitar Player, I have some news about him. If you watch 1st Mike Angelo Batio instructional video (Star LIcks), Guy Mann-Dude plays the background track for the final off-runnin solo (you can read it on the ending credits) and he's the rhythm guitarist in the live shows in the same video with the Michael Angelo Band. He plays in Alice Cooper's "Trash" album (Guy Mann-Dude - guitars (track 2, 4, 7 from wikipedia), in Robin Beck's "Trouble or Nothin'" album he played guitars but there's a Alice Cooper's Trash staff reunion (Cooper, Child, Warren).

I remember one of my buddies telling me about Guy Mann Dude back in the 80's. I think Mikey had just got back to Texas from Hollywood with a short stint in Sweet Savage. He said dude!! I just met a dude name "Guy Mann Dude" I thought it was a rather clever name.

I used to have a cassette copy of his first album, unfortunately lost it to a house fire otherwise I would still be playing the tape to this day.
