Never thought about it until now. The first lineup of Talas sounded a lot like Y&T.

Metal School cracks me up. Genuine lol's. Reminds of Circus mag (or was it Creme) when they would do these exposes with a hint of satire. Great stuff. Here in this video, by the time Udo got to the strip club, I was was cry'n. Funny stuff.

I guess the hardest part of writing a Tank song is finding a title, then you just sing it repeatedly.

My favorite band since I read an article about them in Cream magazine back in 1984. We (a communal effort of friends) bought Mean Streak and the rest is history. We lived in Nashville at the time and only got to see them 3 times as openers for Twisted Sister/Dio and I can't remember the other. Motley Crue maybe? I moved out to L.A. in 1986 and was fortunate to see them several times after Contagious and 10 came out. After the live album I thought they were done? It wasn't until about 2005 that I found out they were still around. I moved back to Nashville and have seen them about 4 times when they would do their annual tour. Their last stop or next to last was always Nashville before the Monsters Of Rock Cruise. Got to meet Dave several times after the shows and he was such a great guy to talk to. Y&T FOREVER!!!.

Like a lot of bands from this era it's there first two albums that are the best and the rest is meh. Those first two albums are mostly songs written when they were working the clubs and honing their craft. After that the record companies had too much influence trying to make them sound like what was the best seller at the time. Motley, Ratt, Twisted Sister etc.

I was a late bloomer and by late bloomer, I mean I first heard of WASP in Stranger Things when Eddie has the pin on his vest. I got curious, looked them up on KZbin and immediately fell in love with their Golgotha album. Miss you is my favorite song of theirs. Eventually I worked my way backwards, particularly enjoying Unholy Terror and Restless Children along the way. Then my buddy got tickets to their show in Boston last week and when I heard they were doing their entire first album, I gave that a good listen and was in awe over most of it. Totally irritated I waited until almost 40 to listen to them but they're easily top ten for me in terms of greatest bands of all time. Blackie is a musical genius. As for the show, Blackie still has it and it was epic! Wild Child was fantastic live!

It's Tom's versatility and his constant quest to bring something original to the table is what made him a real pioneer. I didn't really care for the direction he took with glam, but I'm glad he did things beyond that.

Having been a Priest, Maiden Motorhead guy, I picked up Meanstreak just off the album cover alone without having ever listened to them before. Meanstreak immediately won me over as a song, but the rest of the album felt underwhelming, and I still picked up the next few albums as well. Saw them live on In Rock We Trust tour-with Helix opening(Helix was awesome-Long Way to Heaven album support). IRWT with Tom Allom producing, I thought gave them the best production sound they'd ever had, and I also liked much more of that album...but alas they kept chasing the radio hit...and their hardness suffered, and they failed to actually reach the next tier of success with each successive album. Many bands of the early 80s kept chasing the radio and suffered from it. Some won fans back, some lost them forever.

I had no idea that these guys were making making 70's proto metal albums. Interesting how that mid-career fork in the road worked on so many industry bands. Something tells me, once they hit the big labels, they weren't being encouraged to find their own voice as much as to be like either Motley Crue or Bon Jovi. Who knows what would have happened if they had gone the Anthrax, Slayer metal circuit.

That original singer wasn’t very good I agree lol. He reminds me of the band Hyskos also from 1982 who had that one album and faded away pretty quickly. Killer riffs but kinda made less good by bad vocals

Had the Steeler album back in 83. Loaned it out never got it back. Had the KEEL right to rock as well. Have to say listening to it in my 50's, not so much into his voice. But will say his vocals seemed to improve with age. Yngwie made that Steeler album in my opinion.

That Beatles album with the babies almost looks worse than a Cannibal Corpse album. WTF is going on with that? What's the symbolism supposed to represent?
@MetalSchoolChannel4 күн бұрын
@@RobsMemoryLane basically, the American and European record deals back then were separate. For some reason, the American side decided to combine the albums Revolver and Rubber Soul into one instead of releasing them both in their entirety. So the Beatles felt their US album Yesterday and Today “butchered” two of their proper complete albums. Hence the cover

I met Leonard at the back entrance at a show many years ago. What a humble dude. His wife/girlfriend came out after a while and he was telling her about the shoes he was wearing and how they weren’t good to play in. It was a little funny but showed how human these guys can be. This band is definitely underrated and one of my favorites. It’s a cool memory, I think we sat there and talked for at least a half hour. He is in my top five drummers of the 80’s.
